But Marcus was finally happy to make it to his new home. After a quick breakfast, he headed down to engineering to meet with is new boss, Chief Engineer Sentrya. It took but a moment to get his bearings and soon he found himself infront of the chiefs door. : : Marcus touched the pad on the wall to signal his arrival and waited to be let in. : : -Ensign Rizman Sentrya found herself busied by the tasks at hand, more specifically, regarding the current nature of the ship. She was not pleased to know the recent issues in Engineer had been caused by a saboteur, and was more upset at the idea that it could have easily been one of her own engineers. Though, she pushed these thoughts and speculations away, once the chime of her door rang. “Come in!”

The sound of distress and aggravation in the commanding voice caught Marcus’ notice. When the doors whooshed open, he cautiously moved his way into the chief engineers office, “Ensign Marcus Rizman reporting for duty,” he said calmly while he stood at attention.

Ensign Rizman

When the man came in, he would find that the Chief Engineer had a neat appearance to her uniform, but the same could not be said for her hair, which looked like her fingers had been run through it, several times. “Welcome to the ship, Ensign.” Andromeda quickly caught herself, wondering if that had sounded as snippy as it did, in her own head. Sighing, she cleared her throat.

“Sorry, I didn’t intend for that to sound so rude.” The woman regained herself, pulling her hair back into a neat ponytail. Brushing off her uniform, she offered her hand to the Ensign, sporting a calm smile. “Welcome to the ship, Mister Rizman. I am Andromeda Sentrya, if you didn’t already know.” She remarked, “Can I get you anything to drink? Water. Coffe.”

“Nothing for me thank you,” Marcus replied, “And no worries on you tone chief. I’ve been in many a situation to recognize someone who has something bothering them.” He gave her a warm smile back, “On second thought, I will have that drink. A tall glass of lemonade on ice. We’ll have a seat and you can tell me what is bothering you chief.”

“Last time I checked, Ensign, you were my new Engineer, not my counselor.” She chuckled, turning to replicate the lemonade over ice, as she got herself Blackberry Iced Tea, a staple where she was from. Moving over to the desk, she set the glass in front of the chairs, placing her own next to where her hand generally was.

Marcus slipped onto one of the chairs in the room and graciously took the drink Andromeda offered him. He took a long cool swig as he listened to her.

Ensign Rizman

Andromeda took a seat, crossing one of her legs over the other. “I trust you should be aware of our current situation, if not, already.” She began, clasping her hands on the table. “We have experience severe stress to the conduits, which elicited an explosion of several of them. In this regard, Engineering and Security looked into the issue, determining the severity of it.” She paused, to make sure that Rizman was following along, “Upon further analysis, Security submitted that the conduit explosions had not been by accident, and instead, were sabotage. Does this make sense, so far?”

Andromeda felt the Ensign should know, a San It did concern his department and the ship he had just embarked upon.

Marcus paused in thought. He was not fully aware of the issue on the ship before he boarded, for his thoughts were elsewhere at the time. “Do we has a report on which systems the blown conduits have effected?” he asked. “Also do we have a time table on how long the systems effected will be down?”

Ensign Rizman

“The conduit explosion affected power systems, causing engineering to be —for lack of better term— dead in the water. Currently, we have been able to repair majority of the damage cause damage by the stress on the conduits. With that being said, we are doing our best to prevent further damage to them, as not to risk another explosion.” Andromeda explained, “However, our biggest concern is who did this, and how we can stop it from happening again.”

Sentrya

“And how many people know that this was sabotage?” Marcus asked, “If it still is just a few people, say you and some of the security, then you have the upper hand on finding your culprit. He or she was looking to cripple this ship for a reason. My guess is if this reason has not happened yet and you have brought your systems up sooner then you saboteur may have expected, then you could set a trap for said person.”

“Maybe announcing a stress test to the replaced conduits which means transferring all power to vital systems to an alternate conduit while the other conduits are under testing could bring your saboteur out to try and hit the one conduit being used to hold all other systems up during the test. Just possibility,” Marcus took another sip from his drink, “However, that could be a long shot.”

Ensign Rizman

“Chief… Ensign Sakamoto hasn’t reported in for his shift. I’ve tried to raise him on comms, but he’s not responding,” said NE Whisper.

GM

“When was the last time Ensign Sakamoto was seen or heard from?” She inquired, wondering how long it had been since he last reported for shift.

Marcus raised an eyebrow and looked up from his drink, “Well that might just lead to something,” he said. He got up from his seat and looked toward the chief, “Shall we have a look see to our missing Ensign?”

Ensign Rizman

“Mm.” Andromeda seemed to consider this for a moment, rising to her feet, as she set down the PADD within her hands. Nodding to them, she motioned for the Ensign to continued.

“NE Whisper, please show us to Ensign Sakamoto’s room.” Marcus asked.

Ensign Rizman

Andromeda shifted her attention to NE Whisper, awaiting his response.

“Aye ma’am,” said NE Whisper.

Moments later, they found themselves outside of the quarters of Ensign Sakamoto. They rang the door. There was no answer.

“Computer, where is Ensign Sakamoto?”

“Ensign Sakamoto is in his quarters.”

“What now, ma’am?” asked NE Whisper.

GM

“In his quarters, but not responding.” She rose an eyebrow, “Either he is incapacitated or is ignoring visitors.” She thought for a second, “Do we have any way to verify whether or not the Ensign is in there? After all, a computer can be manipulated. Perhaps a scan?” She spoke while she thought, which was a trademark of hers.

“I’m not detecting a lifesign ma’am. Either you can overwrite the security lock as the department head or call security down to do it for you,” said NE Whisper.

GM

“How odd,” She mused to herself, but there was not ebullience about her words. Stepping towards the panel, she quickly worked to overwrite the security lock, so they wouldn’t have to contact security for something so petty. Raising a brow, she waited to see if it worked.

Marcus watched as the chief worked on the override. “Might I suggest we call security as well,” He said in thought of what they might see inside, “Just in case we find something not savory to the eyes.”

Ensign Rizman

The door opened. They found the quarters a mess, as if there was a struggle that had taken place. Lying on the floor face down, was Ensign Sakamoto… Dead.

GM

Sentrya rushed forwards, quickly kneeling beside the Ensign, pressing two fingers to his neck, confirming the death by the pulse. “Rizman, contact security, now!” Sentrya tapped her own badge, in order to comm the Captain. After all, those were the two groups that needed to know. =^= Sentrya to Captain Greer, come in, please.=^=

=^= I need security to crew quarters on my locationon deck fourteen, =^= Marcus continued, =^We have a crew member dead in his quarters.=^=

OOC: Merely tagging security in this, in case thy wanna have a go.

Several Security NEs showed up with scanners. A medical NE also showed up to scan the body to help find the cause of death.

“Commander, Sentra,” Paris said entering the room. She had heard of a crew death which meant security had to evaluate the situation also. Crew deaths in a mission were not unheard of but the state of the spoke to more than a depressed suicide. Since the medical team was here, Paris waited to get thier report before speaking.

The medical NE announced, “Poison. Slow acting. Ensign Sakamoto died in his sleep… and unfortunately, it’s far too late to reverse the effects.”

GM

Stepping into the room, Mason looked around and at the body on the floor, in time to hear the last comment. “What was he doing on the floor if he died in his sleep?” he asked, and then nodded to the Security detail to set up a perimeter outside.

“He rolls a lot,” paris quipped although her comment was not needed. It was said more as a reply than a response as she took in the room.

“I am detecting a sleeping agent as well Commander. I believe he was drugged asleep and the poison acted on it’s own accord,” said the medical NE.

Paris’ mind had jumped to the first logical conclusion that foul play was involved. It also backed up her earier conversation about a sabateur on the ship.

“Give me a report” he said to his people, looking up at the Chief Engineer, “what exactly is going on?”

-Cmdr Mason Black, XO

Andromeda glanced up at the Commander. “In efforts to determine further information about who might have been causing all of these issues with Engineering, we sought our Ensign Sakamoto, seeing as he was said to have not been on time to his station. Upon further investigation, the computer said he was in his quarters and scans claimed otherwise. Overriding the security procedures, we found ourselves here.” She gestures to the area where Sakamoto was, “Otherwise, nothing else is known.”

GM

“The man was drugged and poisoned, and that was after a struggle?” Mason looked down at the body and shook his head. “All leave is cancelled, immediately and I want the computer to log the location of every person on this ship during the time frame this event may have taken place, I want to know who else has been in these quarters and they are to be interviewed. Medical will find out what the poison is and how long it had to act, Andromeda, I want you to find out if anybody came into this room unauthorized or if they were let in. Report back to me as soon as we know anything.”

Cmdr Black, XO

Momentarily caught off guard by the use of her personal name, Andromeda inclined her head, with a quick: ‘Aye, sir!’

“I can only tell you what my tricorder readings tell you, Commander. His body has no marks of a struggle, however, though the room seems to contradicts that,” said the medical NE.

GM

“What if there wasn’t a stuggle but someone tossed the place looking for something,” Paris walked over to the replicator and requested a set of latex gloves. “Can you scan the room for DNA,” she asked the medical officer.

Lt. Commander Paris Carisi, COS

“Yes, of course, Commander,” said the medical NE. The medical NE swept the room. “I’m sorry, Commander, I am unable to detect a suitable DNA sample to indicate that someone else other than the persons in this room currently.”

GM

Taking one last glance at the room, she rose an eyebrow. “Lieutenant? Will your officers have any information on the authorization, or rather thereof, in and out of rooms?” She asked, “If so, is there anyone specific I should go to? Or shall we just leave it up to the Computer to inform?” She figured the Security Chief would be the more competent person to ask, as the computers were not always entirely accurate.
