JK entered sickbay, looking for a member of the medical staff to see to his boarding physical. He ran his left hand through his hair as he waited for a free doctor, nurse or medical orderly to see to him.

His medical history was up to date, a key item on it was his recent return to active duty following a prolonged stint of leave when he was overseen by Starfleet Medical on Earth. It related to a mostly redacted part of his service file which related back to his time of first being a Counselor on an Academy ship, the Discovery Class USS Columbia, some 11 years before the current day. He had suffered some serious medical and psychological problems from that resulted from a mission involving the mirror universe. The little information that was made available suggested that he had been taken captive and tortured for information, while his mirror universe counterpart took his place on board the Columbia. He was cleared of passing critical information to the mirror universe terrans, but he was always viewed with suspicion since then, firstly not being able to be promoted beyond the rank of Lt Commander, and then in time asking to be kept at or below the rank of full Lieutenant.
A little over 2 years ago, he was diagnosed with PTSD based on the events in the mirror universe, and perhaps the tragic death of his brother, sister-in-law and father. JK spent considerable time in recovery after this and knows he could relapse at any time, a condition for which he has taken both psychological and medical treatment.
Finally, JK’s left hand and arm plays havoc with technology, to the extent that he only uses his right hand to operate technology. Dr Addison, a CMO he served with on the USS Columbia devised a medical solution to the problem, one which he continues to this day. But this still has him overly conscience of the issue of his left hand and arm and he’s careful not to use them when using technology.

OOC: And yes, the left hand/arm and the mirror universe issues have been RPed in the club … the PTSD and deaths of his family members all played out off screen :)

John-King continued to wait patiently to be seen for his boarding physical and also began to whistle tirelessly as he waited.

On what was to be one of his first day’s aboard the ship, Ensign Frogue walked into sickbay not knowing what was going on. He had no looked at his schedule and thus had no idea the counselor was coming in. Seeing the CNS sitting there Frogue walked over, “Hello, I am Doctor Frogue, can I help you?”

Frogue

“Yes please Dr Frogue,” John-King replied, “I am John-King McKenzie, the new Counsellor. I thought I would come in, introduce myself and get my boarding physical completed in the one visit. Here’s my medical history, to save you looking it up.”

John-King handed over a padd to the doctor and added, “I think I may have been overly enthusiastic in the gym last week. My upper arms have been sore ever since.”
