Walking down the hallways of Deck 5, Gruck straightened his uniform and checked he had everything that he needed. Arriving at the door he pressed the charm and looked around the hallway whilst awaiting a response.

Paris heard the chime and looked up from the PaDD she was reading. “Come,” she called out looking up at the door.

As the door opened, Gruck stepped through into the office. “Lt Junior Grade Gruck Nawim, Reporting for Duty” he declared and looked at the Lt Commander.

“Welcome to the Asimov,” Paris extended her hand. “Please take a seat. Can I get you something to drink?”

Gruck extended his hand back to the woman, “Thank you and I’m fine thanks.”

Paris refilled her cup and then sat down looking at the PaDD. “Nawim, Gruck Lt. jg,” she read out his name as it was officially logged into his transfer documentation. “Tell me something interesting about yourself,” she asked glancing up at him. All the basics were in his documentation. “This is round two for you here. Bugs and neutrons stars were just not stimulating enough for you,” she asked.

Gruck sat opposite the woman watching her movements carefully. “So I see you have remembered me,” he responded shifting in his seat a little before continuing “Well, I don’t know what you’d consider interesting apart from the fact I made the jump from science to security.”

“It is a big change. Wanna share why?”

Lt. Commander Paris Carisi, COS

“Science bored me a little, I wanted to have a change and security just seemed right,” Gruck replied.

Lt. Junior Grade Gruck Nawim, Security

“Well since this is round two for you, so you know the basics of the ship. These are the security department rules and regulations you should brush up on,” she handed over a PaDD. “Aside from them relating to guns and not Petri dishes they are pretty much the same expectations I have of you as you had for your science officers when you were the CSO. You know the basics like showing up on time, request leave two weeks in advance, if you have an issue with a co-worker follow the chain of command,” Paris ran off the basics points. “I have already uploaded your duty schedule which starts tomorrow at 0800 hours sharp. We have PT daily at 0600 hours so you are expected to participate in that if you have the day shift or grave shift. If you are on Eve’s you can work out in the gym on your own. I am assigning you to the forensic team as a specialty division based on your experience with the sciences. Any questions,” Paris asked. This was a far different check in than typical. Gruck had been a department head and sat in her seat just in science rather than security. He would know what was expected of him as an officer and since he was fresh out of security training he knew the basics of the job.
