Jazzin materialised on the transporter platform of the Asimov. The young trill looked around, though all transporter rooms looked the same, he still gave a small smile of excitement at being posted aboard a ship like the Asimov; it was a dream come true.

“Welcome to the Asimov, sir,” the crewman manning the console said, who then looked at the bags surrounding the Trill doctor. “Would you like some help with your luggage?”

Jazz flushed a little with embarrassment, when he looked around. Four bags. And the look the crewman was giving him? He knew it was too much. He found it hard to throw things away, or have them replicated whenever he went anywhere. “I … erm .. well, I suppose; if you’re allowed?”

“Certainly, sir.” The crewman moved to help Jazzin with two of the bags. “Not many people bring this much with them on a new posting.” The man said, as they walked the corridors of the ship.”

The Trill was so excited he was nearly skipping along as they went. “Oh well, you know, replicated items just don’t feel … right. I prefer the originals.”

When they arrived at his quarters, Jazz gave the crewman a heartfelt thanks and promised to get him a drink if they ever encountered each other on down time.

After getting changed into his uniform and popping into place his single golden pip. He set off to meet his new boss and get his physical examination.

Stepping into Sickbay on deck 6, Jazzin flagged down one of the nurses.

“Hello, I’m Jazzin Lauren. I’m the new doctor here.”

The Andorian nurse gave him a respectful nod. “Welcome to the Asimov, Doctor Lauren.”

Jazzin hated formality, but such was life in Starfleet, and this was his first assignment from the Academy. “Thank you, Nurse …?”

“Tol’fa, sir.”

Jazzin gave a smile. “You don’t have to call me ‘sir’, Tol’fa. So, I’m not sure which was round I’m supposed to do things? Do I have my physical examination first, or do I see Doctor Vock? Or should I call him Lieutenant? I never know!” He cleared his throat. “Sorry, I’m babbling. I do that when I get nervous, sorry. So … which first?”

OOC: Welcome to the Asimov, Alex. In Sim terms you may well have arrived before the CMO, possibly while we were around Ferenginar maybe? He’s currently in the Hangar (main sim) unconscious so feel free to join that thread and help him out, medical will be needed. An easy explanation for this thread without changing anything, is that the ship would have listed Vock as CMO although he was still en-route himself. Perhaps James can do the check-in as one of his interesting NE’s? Have fun!

Ens. Tol’fa replied “I’m sorry, but Lieutenant Vock has not arrived on board yet.” the Andorian replied. Of course she stressed the rank, as Andorians would. So it was still ‘up in the air’ as to the proper terminology to use. “We expect him today. I can direct you to Ensign Shutters. She can assist you in your on-boarding exam… Doctor.”

Okay, they use rank in stead of position here … noted. He thought “Thank you, Nurse Tol’fa.”

As if on cue, a human woman appeared from around the corner of the central room, probably the CMO’s office. “Oh, hello Ensign. Sorry for the delay, we are getting ready for the new Chief Medical Officer’s arrival, and I guess he is running late. I can do your exam in the mean time.” and she pointed to an empty biobed. “Have a seat and we can knock this out in a jiffy!”

NE Shutters, Medical

The Trill gave a warm smile. “Thank you,” he said, doing as instructed and hopping up onto the bio-bed. “Guess I’ll have to wait to see what my new boss is like! I hope he’s nice. You hear all sorts of horror stories in the Academy. I’m Jazzin Lox … or Jazz …” he flushed a little. “Or Doctor Lox, or Ensign. I really don’t mind”

It was evident from his demeanour that this was no straight backed, rigid Starfleet officer. He seemed quite genuine, and maybe a little nervous. “I’ve nothing to report, health-wise. I will probably be a bit of a boring case, I’m afraid. Besides; what kind of doctor would I be if I didn’t spot anything serious on my own body, let alone someone else’s?!” He laughed a little.
