Pressing the doorchime to the Ship’s Counsellor’s office, Jazzin nodded and smiled at passing crewmembers. Soon he would count some of these people amongst his friends … he hoped.

This was his first psychological evaluation outside of the Academy. He wondered if they did things differently, here.

His exit evaluation had been sent to the Asimov’s Counsellor before he had even got to the ship.

It read:

‘Jazzin Lauren is an affable young man who I found to be friendly, enagaging, and very talkative. I found he did this most when he was nervous or excited, and he always seemed to be one of the other.

‘Jazzin came from humble beginnings. His parents owned a plantation and he had an idyllic childhood in a story-book kind of way. He often recalls playing with his brothers among the crops, helping out now and then, and many happy memories.

‘He noted he first became interested in medicine when his mother died from a genetically predispositioned disease (one I believe, he does not carry), and watched the practitioners help ease her passing. He stated that it was at that time he wished to help save lives.

‘The only thing of concern to me as a counsellor, if that he tends to form attachments to people very quickly, and is easily hurt when let down. If people do not immediately answer messages, or he encounters some unpleasantness, it tends to affect him quite deeply.

‘My recommendation is to help Doctor Lauren with these issues.

‘I look forward to hearing from Jazzin in the future and wish him the best of luck on his new posting.’

Commander Luka Santiago, Counsellor, Starfleet Academy.

Now all Jazzin had to do was wait.

Bump!

OOC: Thanks Alex. - Russell

IC: John-King had dozed for a few moments at his desk and woke to the sound of the chime of his office sounding. He rose to his feet, and walked to the door to the office.

Opening the door to the office, he saw Ensign Lauren standing there and said, “Welcome, welcome, I’m Lieutenant John-King McKenzie, Head Counselor in these parts. Enter please, Ensign, take a load off your feet and tell me what’s troubling you in that noggin of yours.”

There were a number of chairs and couches available, ranging from a luxurious faux leather couch that was reminiscent of the office of a high class (and very expensive) psychologist from the early to mid 20th century from Earth, through to a wooden chair that looked like it was picked up from a dumpster somewhere, judging by the look and smell. On one wall there was John-King’s psychology degree, alongside his important qualifications from Starfleet, including the “Troi Crash Course in Flying Starfleet Vessels” that Jazzin may have recalled from his time at the Academy as being a course that was both “essential for Counselor Students to pass and exclusive to Counselor Students at the Academy”. There was also an unusual plant on the desk in the office, one from Simus Prime. Despite it looking dead, there was a flower on it, a most unusual flower.
