With the thoughts of the previous days heavy on her mind, from the murder of that poor Ensign, to the possibility of the saboteur being amongst her own, Andromeda was somewhat relieved to be working such a late shift. Few disturbances were found in these early hours of the morning, where most were asleep, and the only people up were hopelessly in love, mad or lonely. It was only her, the rumbling of the ship around her in its sonorous orchestra and the few other engineers dotting the perimeter of the bay.

Quietly, to herself, she hummed the melody of ‘Lean on Me,’ a song that had been stuck in her head, like a broken record, for the past several days. Without noticing much of it, she continued running scans on the warp core, for annual maintenance checks.

“Coffee,” Paris said walking up to the CE and extending a cup. “I both loved and despised this shift.” Paris looked around and got a small smile on her face. “I may not be an engineer but on my cadet cruise, there was this officer. Akirel Ros and man he was some amazing eye candy on patrol.” She let herself get lost in the memory but then looked at Sentrya. “So how is the shift going. Long boring and nothing to report,” Paris asked.

Lt. Commander Paris Carisi, COS

“You’re a lifesaver,” Andromeda chuckled, graciously taking the coffee. Taking a sip, she rose an eyebrow. “Better than I imagined, thank you,” She smiled, setting it down where it wouldn’t be knocked over by one of her clumsy hands. “That’s the best part about those shifts,” She winked, “There is always someone looking fine, without even trying.” A laugh. “You hit about every note,” Drone sighed, glancing over the scans, “Everything’s about as active as a grizzly in winter. How about you? I don’t suspect you’re down here out of free will? Unless, of course, you have a thing for the warp core.” She smiled.

“Who doesn’t have a thing for a fast machine that can take you from zero to light speed in under ten seconds,” she laughed staring at the large cylinder that dominated the room. “Or a beverage making device that makes the counterpart of this,” she held up her glass, “but with a bit more kick.” Paris looked over Sentrya skeptically a bit. It was almost as if she was sizing up the other department head. “Do you know every part of this room like the back of your hand,” Paris asked inquisitively. Andromeda was right. She was not down here on her own free will exactly. Paris had gone to bed but for some reason woe up remembering an event from a few years back.

Lt.Commander Paris Carisi, COS

OCC: Okay I have a slightly silly story that might be fun. I am going to surprise you with it after your reply to me. It will take a bit of trust and maybe some leeway in the fun department about what people think should happen on a ship but we can try it out and see if you like it? If not we can “reset” from this point and start again. So feeling adventurous Trinity? and FYI if you don’t like the idea when I reveal it please feel free to drop me an email or leave an OCC. ~ Kate

OOC: Adventurous? Sound like fun! I’m up for whatever silliness you have in mind. Not to mention, the Asimov could use it. Lol! -Trin

OCC: Specs schmecks. Everyone has a hidey hole when they were a kid right? Change anything you don’t like or email me if you have any thoughts or want to change something I have written. You can break up any of my text if you want to add comments and I can adjust my dialogue if needed. ~Kate

“‘Okay follow me,” Paris pushed off the rain she was talking to Sentrya on. Leading the woman around the warp core, Paris opened a small Jeffery tube looked around and then crawled in. “Its a big awkward getting in but I am sure that is why no one every found this place yet.” Crawling about three feet, Paris stopped at what looked like a nondescript panel. Hitting it with her fist it popped open revealing a small space with a ladder attached going down. “Watch your head,” she said as she turned so she could lower herself feet first down the ladder.

Being an Engineer, there was no doubt to the curosity that plagued her mind at the prospect of where the Chief was leading. Of course, she was supposed to know every nook and cranny of the Asimov, as per the expectation of society. Although, she was under the assumption she was about to come face-to-face with an area of the ship she had never seen before. “Noted,” Sentrya nodded, following after her, the excitement growing with each movement.

At the bottom of the ladder was a rather large room. It had an ancient submarine feel to it as they went down, passing through a small tube and then into a space that was about the size of a small bedroom. It was roughly nine feet by twelve feet but totally open real estate.

Opening her hands she smiled widely as she announced, “welcome to the unofficial department head lounge…or it will be” she winked at the chief engineer.

Lt. Commander Paris Carisi, COS

“Oh, damn.” Sentrya rose her eyebrows, glancing past Carisi and into the depths of the small room. Pressing her hand against the walls, she noted its size, and tried to figure out what it was originally used for.

“I’m surprised I’ve never heard of this place,” She blushed, bashful to admit there was a piece of the ship she’d never heard of. “When did you find it?”

“The XO and Iiiiiiiiiiiiii....were doing routine inspections of the Jefferies tubes but that isn’t important,” Paris rapidly made suer she held her tongue so that less info was given than needed. “What is important is what do you think this place was made for? I mean it feels like a Egyptian tomb to me. Any ideas what could be around it before I start drilling into the walls.

Lt. Commander Paris Carisi, COS

“Right. Routine inspections.” Andromeda spoke with a smirk behind her voice, but she didn’t question Carisi on what these ‘inspections’ actually were. “Judging from the way you got us here, I would say we’re surrounded by Jefferies tubes. This was probably a storage compartment, one that might have got shoved out of the way during one of Asimov’s refits. At best, we’re looking at an old auxiliary room for engineering. I wouldn’t say it was meant for anything beyond support or storage, I mean.. it seems pretty oddly placed for anything important.” She studied the walls for any signs of previous uses: connectors, old ports, anything that would say it was of any vital purpose.

“Good, then I will need you to start making a safe and efficient source of fire so that we can start brewing our own craft beer. Once we get good we can start distilling whiskey. My friend Kate O’Neill had an uncle Jeb that used to make moonshine out in the back shed of her farm back on earth. It was the best damn stuff. I got the recipe from her but to be honest I don’t have the chemistry......buuuuuuut my roommate does,” Paris activated her comm badge.

“Whiskey, eh? I’m sure Command will be thrilled to see the Asimov has become Starfleet’s personal distilery.” Adromeda smirked, barely able to contain the laughter boiling beneath the surface. “I wonder what they’ll have to say about it.”

=/\= Seph I want to show you something. Lock onto my comm badge and meet me at this location. It is kinda like hide and seek so don’t go asking people for help just come here. See ya soon=/\= Paris said clicking off her comm.

“Seph is amazing. She is my ying to my yang,” Paris laughed, “or as Mason puts she is the physical form or my good angel.” Paris leaned back against the wall. “She will probably say we are crazy but what is life without some adventure on this tin can huh? So what do you need to build this,” Paris brought up a schematic of a whiskey still and handed it to the chief engineer. “I can get Mason to sign off on thins as we go but it might take time if we need a lot.”

Lt. Commander Paris Carisi COS

“I’m assuming Mason– Er, Black is the devil on the other shoulder?” Drome teased, placing a hand out to retrieve the schematic. “Oh, this should be easy. Copper is the better metal used for these stills, which I’m sure won’t be a problem to aquire. Although, there’ll need to be some explanation for why we have the copper, should anyone notice– especially if you’re looking for a fairly large still.” She paused, “..Exactly how big of a still are we talking?”

OOC: Just tagging the CSO, in case she didn’t see this. ;)

Seph was working on shift schedules when she heard Paris. =^= On my way, Paris=^= came the rather confused sounding response.

“Hide and seek? Really?” She murmured as she slipped on her tunic top and headed out the door of her room. She had gotten up to work on duty issues, not trapse around the ship on a hunt for her best friend and old roommate. Then both getting promotions allowed them separate quarters. Unfortunately, Seph still didn’t get much solitude or privacy. Paris was the equivalent to a human trouble magnet.

“The worst of it is, she enjoys it…” The CSO sighed she came around the corner to the coordinates Paris had sent. The winding, turning, convoluted location was one that made Seph look around a moment wondering if her spacial recognition was off. “Huh… Didn’t realize this was here. What’s up now, Paris?” The woman and in a voice that sounded like Mom answering the tenth “Mommy, why” question in the last five minutes.
