Main Sim

OOC: A note about my sim approach for the Asimov. As the Asimov is a ship with longer posting requirements, I may write a lot more and leave <reply> blanks for the crew to fill in. Some of them might be “choose your own adventure” responses that are required, and some of them are, if anyone wishes, to be left to write your character’s action/reaction. Sufficient to say, to borrow from Doctor Who, time is “a big ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.” Basically, some of the events I write will be set, despite whatever your character does, because that’s the main actions in the sim. However, if I happen to leave vagueness in my writing, there may be leeway to change some of the course of action and end result. And, also, if I deem your post well written and well argued with logic, I might even void parts of my written parts to allow your well-written post to stand as is.

A note about my Gamemastering style:
There may be an occasion where I will allow your action, but effectively write around your action. (It happens, but doesn’t change anything) In those cases, I may be trying to direct a specific outcome of the sim to its eventual conclusion. I do ask that you try to be as creative and inventive as possible, and don’t be afraid to just toss ideas out there. The best way to pick my brain in the sim: Interact with NPCs and the computer. I try to ask that you be creative, inventive, and keep throwing ideas against the wall. I might allow some of them to stick, and I might not. I tend to view Trek from an engineering perspective, more of a puzzle-oriented type GM with open-ended questions. As a programmer, there are many paths to a solution, your answer might not be the exactly right, but it might get you close.

A title floated past the camera: “Stranded”

The camera pans and zooms on the center of it all: The Bridge.

<reply -- leaving space here for anyone who wants to roleplay the departure of the Starbase>

As the Asimov departed the Starbase for its shakedown cruise, the camera focuses on Engineering, where the Engineering crew was hard at work, double checking everything…

<reply>

As busy Engineering was, the camera pans to Sickbay…

New crew members filed into Sickbay, performing their medical evaluations. The staff was settling in, checking their inventory.

<reply>

An hour had past, and the line to the Sickbay had been reduced, but the staff was getting weary. All the sudden, the ship shook violently. The shaking was enough to knock off internal dampeners offline… and the majority of people on to the floor. Those who had sufficient security training or those who knew how to quickly react, remained standing.

<reply>

The camera pans to the Bridge.

<reply>

“An anomaly has just opened half a meter in front of us, bearing 000, mark 241!” said the Ops NE, “We’re being pulled in!”

“I can’t back out, sirs!” replied the NE at the helm, “The anomaly is accelerating us in!”

<reply>

The ship was sucked into the anomaly.

The computer would registered that they were being accelerated to Warp 9.9975, but the warp drive was not active. Nor was it responsive. The Operations NE did a scan of the anomaly but the sensors were not registering the internals of the anomaly, so there was no way to counter act the anomaly’s effects.

<reply>

What felt like 15 minutes had past, the ship exited the anomaly, into an unknown space. The stars were different, or so it seemed, but the sensors were only partial registering, as the anomaly had damaged long range sensors, and the short range sensors were only giving a limited output. They had exited into a plasma storm, but they were quickly passing through it. The plasma storm struck the ship directly, and damaged some of the critical systems… the primary and secondary computer had gone offline, half of the EPS systems ruptured from the plasma storm’s surge, which also damaged the replication systems too. The plasma storms damaged the shields, which were now at 17%. Hull integrity remained intact however. Weapons were operable, but the tractor system and defector system was offline now due to the plasma storm damage.

As the ship cleared the plasma storm, what was currently obvious on the viewscreen of the visual sensors was a planet was fast approaching… or rather the ship was fast approaching the planet.

<reply>

Both the Operations and Helms NE were in a panic. “Thrusters are not responding. Limited atmosphere manuevering is available,” said the Ops NE.

“We’re coming in too fast!” said the Helms NE.

<reply>

As they entered the planet’s atmosphere, the Helms NE tried to adjust the ship’s entry. Unluckily, the ship got struck by a bolt of lightning. The shields was reduced down to 7%, and more electrical systems across the ship got damaged. All but one fusion generator was working now.

“Captain, we’re coming in hot!” said the helms NE, “30 seconds to impact.”

<reply>

A tractor beam was detected against their ship, but it only operated for 3 seconds. It had adjusted the ship’s trajectory and had slowed the ship down slightly. The Ops officer was able to see that it came from a Ferengi scout ship, that had crashed, as it was stuck in a downward position, but strangely, had a tractor emitter at the back of its ship.

<reply>

The ship crashed, and all of the crew were knocked unconscious.

<reply>

10 minutes had past, and the stronger crew members and the not as heavily injured crew members awoken.

The ship was on emergency life support and power was running at a bare minimum. The consoles were all inoperative now. The comm system was also down.

The camera pans to an empty VIP guest quarters… and a tune played in that room for no one but the audience to hear:

Aboard this tiny ship.” ♪
