A final thought struck Commander Idari - the chroniton readings from the anomaly. “One last question - when you entered the anomaly, what was the star date for you?”

There was something about the way that Zank was behaving that seemed somewhat off. Relations with the United Federation of Planets and the Ferengi Alliance were relatively normalized at this point, so much that some of Zank’s comments regarding how the Federation treated the Ferengi seemed a little bit… dated. Solit had done the switch-off to plenty of Ferengi before, and they had complimented him on his skill instead of being insulted at the distrust. That was not the case here, and Commander Idari had a small inkling as to why.

(Commander Idari, CSO)

“Stardate 52958.2, a few months after the Dominion War, Commander… oh no, no, no,” said Zank. He heaved a heavy sigh. “Well, Commander, I guess I have nothing to lose at this point or gain for that matter if you are asking me that question. I doubt I can return back to my own time period, and I’m guessing things have changed since Rom became Grand Nagus. I just hope that it hasn’t been that long since I’ve been away. What is the Stardate you come from, Commander?”

GM

Commander Idari considered this for a second. He wasn’t sure whether the truth would be fully helpful. In telling the Ferengi the stardate at the Asimov’s origin point, Solit would effectively be informing Zank that his assets had been seized and disbursed a decade ago, relative to Solit and the Asimov crew. Still, Zank had asked, so he would get an answer.

“Stardate 71400, approximately. In Earth time, it’s twenty three years from when you entered the anomaly.”

(Commander Idari, CSO)

“23 years? Whatever has happened on Ferenginar, I would have been long declared dead, and all my property already re-distributed through my corporations holdings to my family, I would guess, but I have no idea. I suppose my ship is my only solo possession, which makes it even more imperative that if it could be tractored out of here when your ship is operable, that would be the most desirable plan for my wife and I,” sighed Zank. “Anyway Commander, though my garden is sparse, and likely can’t feed your entire crew, I could provide you with some seeds and some food, if your ship requires it. I have not bothered to venture towards the mainland – my wife and I decided to isolate because we didn’t know what kind of diseases or anything we might encounter, and not being doctors or proficient in medicine, we decided to limit our exposure the planet’s native inhabitants. That and neither of us felt confident enough to get across the water safely.”

GM

Whatever effects of the anomaly were, they apparently had some kind of instability that somehow slightly altered the timeline. For once that stood a Lt. Cmdr. Wessley Tate, now stood at Lieutenant Piper Grant and at the same moment, the once Captain Natalie Greer had also disappeared from the crew’s minds, only recalling after the last mission that the Asimov was on, that Captain Greer decided to take a leave of absence, instead of embarking on shakedown cruise. The crew’s memories shifted as nothing was wrong, only that the Captain (OOC: yet to be named) was not yet located somewhere on the ship.

GM

“Commander… if you’ll forgive me for asking, what plans does your crew have to generate power?” asked Zank.

GM

OOC: Sorry for the long absence. Every time I got onto the site, right as I was about to post something (other than my last post in Command), I had to get off my computer. Anyway…

IC:
“Yet another question for our Engineering crew, I believe,” Solit replied. “For the moment, they seem to have managed to get one of our fusion reactors functional, but that’s only a short-term solution. I have no idea what else they might try. For all I know, somebody is building windmills and welding them to the upper hull of the Asimov.”

Commander Idari looked over at the Security officer next to him.

“I suppose that we should probably get back to the ship, unless there’s something you would like to ask of Mister Zank, Lieutenant?”

(Commander Idari, CSO)
Piper shook her head “I don’t have any other questions.” She said “And I agree we need to get back to the ship before it gets too late.” Piper said “We still don’t know exactly what’s out here.”

COS

“I do. There aren’t dangerous wild animals, this island is fairly isolated. We’ve lived here for months and haven’t seen anything dangerous,” replied Zank, “Safe enough that my wife and I take evening strolls along the beach.”
