One could use the word… disheartened. The science facilities on the Asimov, on first impressions, were underwhelming. Especially compared with what she had experienced on her cadet cruise. She eventually visited the lab herself, with the intention of meeting the Chief Science Officer. It was exactly as she had read about in the specifications. Though she acknowledged the usefulness of such a compact set-up, and it was necessary for the size of the vessel. Still, it was not very fitting of a Vulcan to visibly show such thoughts. So instead she quietly and politely looked around the lab before stopping and waiting to meet her new Department Head.

Ensign T’Mor, Science Department

Commander Idari entered the area and sighed. He had his suspicions regarding his transfer, but when he saw the Vulcan female standing in the room, he could not help but feel like the Asimov’s new crew was halfway for the purposes of optics. Given that he was a mix of Cardassian, Bajoran, Vulcan, Human, and dark-skinned to boot, he was a definite outlier for a Starfleet officer. The Asimov was technically a demotion - he had been the CSO on a Concord-class research vessel five times the size of the Asimov-D - but as the Asimov was a combat vessel assigned in Federation space proper, the CSO job was apparently supposed to be a prime position with few demands.

“Ensign,” Commander Idari said. “Welcome to the labs, such as they are. I trust that you have received your requisite emergency medical training prior to your assignment here?”

(Commander Idari, CSO)

T’Mor stood at attention and gave a standard Starfleet salute to here superior officer. Her surprise was very subtle, expressed only by raised eyebrows that quickly returned to a neutral position. Elements of both Vulcan and human she recognized, though there where other features she could not place. It was not in her nature, however, to inquire about the genetic heritage of someone she had just met.

“Yes,” she responded, “I have completed the training as required.”

“Good,” Commander Idari said. “I doubt that we’ll ever be called upon to use it, given our area of patrol, but still, we might as well prepare.”

The training she had received was not very in-depth, at least the way her instructor taught it. They had basically given the trainees a large instructional booklet, a slide presentation, and a test at the end. It resembled in that way some of her least favorite university courses. Though she did manage to learn a few things, it was not to her own satisfaction.

“You are Commander Idari, correct?”

Ensign T’Mor, Science Department

“Indeed,” Solit replied. “Apparently, there a three Vulcan females who have been assigned to the Asimov, so I’ll skip the guessing on my end and allow you to introduce yourself.”

(Commander Idari, CSO)

OOC: Bump. Apologies for my lack of promptness with my initial reply.
