Amber nodded. “Guess we’re going shopping. Want us to pick you up a luck charm or shrunken head, Kiernan?” She smiled to the XO teasing. “On a serious note, I’d still like to voice my opinion that letting too many off the ship and away from it at once is a mistake. But if it’s stable like you say, then I guess I don’t object to small groups.” She knew she was overstepping on her complaint, but she wanted it on the record she was still feeling a bit uneasy.

As a quick thought, she pulled out her tricorder and tried, surreptitiously to scan Lane just to be sure it wasn’t anything local that was making her feel bad. She just hoped the blasted thing worked in here.

OOC: Question, is the scan being done inside or outside the restaurant? I presume the good Doctor is doing it out of sight…

IC:
The tricorder indicated it was a case of awolitis. It was not easily spread, and not highly contagious, just it was very random how it struck random crew members.

“Noted and agreed doctor.” Sara said and she moved to lead those headed back to the ship.

Amber and the NE headed out with the group after a quick direction check from the waitress on the whereabouts of the magic shop. As figured it was the place they had suspected earlier. Amber took a deep breath and opened the door to step in. Moving to let her companion in as well, she glanced around trying to place half of what she saw into a context she could understand.

((So me and an NE are all that’s left on the team in town?… just checking))

OOC: Correct.

IC:

“Welcome to my magic shop. How may I assist you?” welcomed the store owner. The store was decorated with all kinds of items as it if was straight out of a fantasy holonovel. It kind of made both the doctor and NE want to utter, “Computer, arch” subconsciously to see if they were in a holodeck program. There were crystals of different colors that glowed with no apparent power source, tomes of books, and various magical ingredients scattered around the store in an organized fashion – books on one bookshelf, ingredients on another, scrolls on another, the crystals seemed to have its own dedicated bookshelf, and magical objects like orbs and staffs, and other magical weapons.

Amber did happen to glance over her shoulder as the door closed to see if the ‘ship’ appeared around its perimeter. A slight shrug at realizing how silly that was and her attention was back on the person who had spoken to them. “Oh, thank you. We are new here. I was curious. There is an amazing anomaly not too far from here. An island where it seems nothing works as it should. I was told you were the shop to possibly know about such oddities.” She was polite and smiling as if nothing were amiss and her entire family of crew wasn’t stuck in the ‘void’ of an island with no way to sustain themselves for an extended period of time. Since the restaurant had been so forthcoming, she hoped this place was as well. She honestly didn’t have another couple hours to beat around the proverbial bush.

“A-noo-ma-ly? What’s that?” asked the store owner in a very confused tone, “I am afraid I have no idea what you are talking about. We only sell magical items, magical tomes, magical potions and ingredients for magical potions. Oh, maybe you would like to have your magical aptitude tested?”

“You’ll forgive my traveling companion,” said the NE, “She sometimes forgets not to violate our order’s highest commandment of non-interference of other people’s beliefs and sometimes utters the most strangest things. It is usually caused by a lack of water… I don’t suppose we could impose on you?”

“Oh, not at all,” said the store owner. The owner pulled out an empty glass. “Imlt v apu!”

Out of nowhere, the glass filled with clear water. “Here you go,” replied the store owner.

OOC: Just so we are clear, the restaurant’s behavior is abnormal because they aren’t really part of the town in the truest sense, since we established they are from another universe. Since no one has yet to explore any other part of town other than the restaurant that stood out from the rest of the town, don’t assume the rest of the town is like the restaurant.
