Sara walked down the halls of her ship, surveying it, taking it all in. Staff along the way recognized and greeted her as the Captain. There were certainly worse days in her past. She drifted down the decks to engineering, deciding to check on the new Chief while she was there. People were busy, not an unwelcome sight. She stopped an ensign. “Excuse me.”
“Oh. Oh Captain. Good afternoon ma’am.” He stood extremely tensely, awaiting approval.
“At ease ensign.”
“How can we be of service today?”
“Take me to the Chief.”
“Aye ma’am.”

Sara was led to the new CE, who she greeted “Good afternoon Lieutenant.”

“Afternoon, Cap’n.” Rovans voice came from within a panel that had had the cover removed, and his top half was barely visible wedged into it while his lower half stood on the ground. “One moment!” Short seconds passed and a short, sharp zapping sound came from the panel accompanied by a bright blue light, and then the Ktarian extracted his torso and turned to Kiernan.

Handing the Ensign that had led the Captain to him the hyperspanner he had just been using, Rovan adjusted the creases in his tunic and let his yellow eyes come to rest on her. “Small adjustment needed to one of the relay conduits,” and he grinned, “it’s a good way to get used to the ship. See how she ticks. Down for an inspection Captain?”
