“Depends on what you want to know?” Paddy asked, a child-like grin crossing his face.
-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-
Oh so it was like that was it? Bethany took another bite of the stew and considered. “Well I know you grew up on a farm and your family used this lovely concoction,” she picked up the coffee, “to stay awake over night. And that you said you didn’t start out in counseling. So let’s start there, what did you do before counseling and why did you leave the family farm for Star Fleet?”
Gadi, CoSPaddy smiled fondly, “As a lad, I acted as junior engineer and maintainance man, tending to any of the farm tech that stopped working due to the extreme heat or cold. I was originally interested in becoming an Engineer in the Fleet, after seeing ships like the Enterprise on the FNN and wondering what it would be like to get my hands dirty on one of those lasses.” Paddy frowned, letting out a long sigh, “That was until my father became ill.”

“Oh Paddy, I’m so sorry. I take it you took over where he couldn’t?” Watching your parents fight illness and not be able to get better was such a cruel reality. Bethany’s parents, last she saw them, were well, and she counted herself very lucky that way. “Is that when you decided to go into counseling?”

Paddy smiled, “I started helping my father recover from his experience at the Battle of Wolf 359. Through that, my mother suggested I study a psychology degree at the University of New Belfast.”

“That must have been really rough, for all of you. It sounds like you were all really close though.” Bethany finished off the last of the stew and sat back with the coffee. “So are you happy with the change to counseling? I know from experience it can be a lonely position.”
