Blue walked the passageway to the CNS office after the meeting. He preferred to get questions and concerns addressed as quickly as he could. They were asking a lot of this crew, and he wanted people to be able to make as informed a decision as possible.

He made it to the office and pressed the chime.

GM

“It’s open,” came the voice of the Asimov‘s Counsellor, Lieutenant Patrick McMillan. As the doors slid aside, the Irishman gave a polite smile and said, “Ahh, Agent Blue, come in, can I get you anything?”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

“Oh, no thank you.” Blue said as he entered and took a seat. “But please don’t let that stop you. I don’t mind if you dont.” And he chuckled. Looking at the doctor, he said “So… how do I alleviate your concerns about my mental health then, hmmm?”

GMT

Paddy couldn’t help but grin, “Straight down to business, I can appreciate that from someone in your field.” Stepping over to his desk, he took a swig of the Irish Coffee on his desk and said, “So, without giving away any classified details, what can you tell me about your career with Intelligence so far?”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

Blue smiled and said “Its been long… and hopefully effective. Not without it’s frustrations and… well… incidents.” He reached up and tapped his fingertip against his right eye, and it let out a distinctive tink-tink-tink… as if he was tapping on glass. “These are a recent addition. A gift of necessity thanks to the organization we are going up against. But thankfully, other than that, my career has typically been more… administrative… in nature. And I’ve made some good friends throughout it’s course, so that’s a plus.”

GM

“Really?” Paddy replied with an arched eyebrow, “I assume you’re not allowed to tell me how you got the new… additions?”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

Blue shrugged. “I can tell you that it is a result of prolonged physical and psychological torture. Very prolonged. But I was saved, brought back, and treated with the best medical and psychological help available. And I have had no small amount of rehabilitation. And if you want a less partial opinion, you can ask Agent Pikelsimer. He’s the one that extracted me. Been with me almost consistently since, as well.” Blue’s tone was simple, straight-forward, calm, and professional. There was a certain tenseness in his posture, indicating the results may be more recent than in the past.

GM

“I’m sorry to hear that Agent,” Paddy replied, keeping his tone in a similarly straight fashion, “How long have you been an Intelligence Officer?”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

Blue smiled and said “No apologies needed, Counselor. You didn’t do it, after all.” and he chuckled softly. “As to my tenure in Intelligence, well that is something I cannot something I can discuss, really. But I can tell you its been more than a decade.”

GM

“Of course,” Paddy said with a light chuckle, “In that case, why choose the Asimov for a mission like this? Unless you know something I don’t?”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

Blue chuckled. “I didn’t pick the Asimov, actually. Admiral Hallsley did. But I will say I am quite pleased with the selection. Smaller ship with a smaller crew contingent means easier to pull off the deception. I am curious, though, how many will take the option not to go.Its an odd caveat, I know. But I and Agent Pikelsiner insisted.”

GM

“I will admit,” Paddy said with a sly smile, “I’m not normally one for cloak and dagger missions, but I’m willing to adapt.”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

Blue looked at the Counselor and then leaned forward. “This is… and I cannot stress this enough… a mission of paramount importance. You want to know if I am psychologically ready for this? If I am being honest, and I will, the answer is ‘no’. I was kidnapped, replaced with a duplicate, and tortured for I don’t know how long… including having my eyes cut out of my head… and left in the dark with no hope of rescue because no one knew I was gone. I am scared, angry, and I have little to no idea of what I am getting ready to walk into. But if I don’t… if we don’t take this opportunity… then I cannot even begin to fathom how much damage will be done and how many will be lost. And there isn’t a single other person who can do this. So I am going. But I am not about to drag an entire ship blindly into quite possibly the singularly-most dangerous circumstances they will ever be in. So while you may not normally be one for cloak and dagger missions, my good doctor… you are right at the start of the cloak and dagger operation to end all cloak and dagger operations. If you want to adapt, please do so quickly. I am quite certain you will be needed to make this work.”

Blue leaned back and gave the Counselor a small smile. “I may not be able to tell the whole truth most of the time… but I do my best to be as honest as possible.”

GM

“I… appreciate the honest Agent Blue,” Paddy said softly, “I… look forward to working with you.”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

Blue nodded and stood up. “And I you, Counselor. I don’t envy the work you have before you… or when we return… but I can say I think the crew of the Asimov’s mental health is in good hands.” He extended a hand to McMillan and then said “And I really would suggest you speak with the FedSec agent. He may be able to give you a bit of perspective I cannot on this endeavor.”

GM

Paddy smiled and accepted the hand. “I will take you up on that Agent, you know where my office is when you need me.”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

“And I’ll take you up on that.” and Blue released the hand and walked to the door, pausing as it slid open. Turning slightly, he said “And Counselor? Thank you. More than a few have never bothered to even ask if I was ready. That tells me a good deal about you.” and he turned and left.

GM

“And I know all I need to about you Agent.” Paddy said quietly as the door closed, then deciding to continue on with his meetings, tapped his combadge, “=^= McMillan to Pikelsimer, can I see you in my office please? =^=”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

There was no reply, but a few minutes later there was a chime on the door.

As the door slid open, FedSec Special Agent Pikelsimer came walking in. He was older, late fifties, with salt and pepper colored hair cut in the style of the Fleet Marines. A metal hand extended from the cuff of the red Command Uniform he wore. He walked in and said “Heya, Doc. You wanted ta see me?” and he flopped down in a chair and crossed his legs at the ankle and he stuck them straight out.

Pikelsimer

OOC: I did not realise you were both, my bad! xD

Paddy was taken aback by the sudden appearance momentarily, but then gave a polite nod and said, “Good to meet you Agent, can I get you anything?”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

OOC: Not a problem! LOL

Pikelsimer waved him off and said “Nope, I’m good. So what can I do ya for, Doc? Happy to answer anything I’m allowed to.” and he grinned and gave him a wink.

Pikelsimer

Paddy smiled, “Down to business is it? Ok then, how have you been feeling since you came aboard the Asimov?”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

Micah grinned and said “You do know I don’t need an eval to be here, right?” and he chuckled. “But in the three hours I been on board? Pretty good. Its a nice ship, crew seems solid. Lookin’ forward to seein’ ‘em work.” he said with a distinctive drawl to his words. He looked intently at the Counselor, his grin never slipping.

Pikelsimer

“Not an eval Agent Pikelsimer,” Paddy returned the grin with an arched eyebrow, “Just a chat between colleagues.”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

“Colleagues? Hmm. Okay. We can it that. So… colleague… is theer something else you wanted to know besides how I’m settling in? Or is this somethin’ else? If so, I’ll have ya know I’m a happily married man.” and he laughed good-naturedly.

Piklesimer

“I must admit,” Paddy said, “You don’t seem like the kind of man who has a dark and devious career in Intelligence, how long have you been in service?” The counsellor sipped at his coffee.

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

“Let’s be clear, now… I don’t work for Intel. They’re far too shady fer me, if I’m bein’ honest. No, I started off Marines. Then some genius thought I’d make a good Star Fleet officer and they forced a commission on me. After that, I was a detective with the San Francisco Police. Apparently some folks liked what I did there, so I was brought into the Federation Security fold. So all in all? I’ve been doing the job fer… what… forty-five years now in some form or fashion? I like this role, though… no real boss and much less red tape. I chose to help Agent Blue on this because it needs to be done, and its far too important to leave to a bunch of spooks.”
