Bethany sipped at the whiskey. She smiled, “Fair enough, Paddy.” She looked up as the doors opened and watched as two of her security officers, that she hadn’t met yet, came in. Tonneq and Vijack. They came in spoke to the other officers at the tables and made their way to the replicator. Water for each of them. They made pass of everyone in the room, even stopping by their table. “Cmdr.” they greeted. “Good evening En, Lt. How is everything?” A look passed between them, a silent conference. “Quiet, no problems, but all the departments are busy. Trying to get ready to depart.” Bethany nodded. “Have a good evening, Cmdr.” and they left. Bethy watched them a moment later and then nodded to herself before turning back to Paddy. “What did you love most about growing up near New Belfast, since you can’t show me at the moment.”

Offering polite nods to each of the Security Officers, making a mental note to make appointments for the two of them at a later date, Paddy turned back and smiled, “Well, the small area we lived in was like a small community, where everyone knew everyone, it really meant I could grow up with a large extended family.”

Bethany could totally understand that. That’s how Valle Crucis was. “Is that where you would go back to after Star Fleet? Or somewhere more urban?”

Gadi, CoS

“Maybe,” Paddy admitted, “Although I also know that I want to settle down somewhere with someone eventually. What about you Commander?”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

“Hmmm…I don’t know. I’ve never really thought about reaching retirement.” There was that one time she’d really though about it though. She’d thought about a lot then. “I’d go home, for awhile. Detox, get used to living again. Spend time with the people that are important to me. Whether that’s my family, friends, a significant other. Teach myself to be me and then decide.”

Gadi, CoS

“I look forward to welcoming you back with open arms Commander,” Paddy said with a grin, “Can I get you another drink?”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

Wow, Paddy didn’t quit. Well he’d said her bluntness wasn’t going to stop him from trying. “Just water. I have a surprise inspection to get up for in the middle of the night.” They’d talked back and forth over the course of the evening, Bethy having asked quite a few questions. Now she was content to let the quiet stretch for the time being and let Paddy lead the conversation.

Gadi, CoS

“So,” Paddy said after returning from the replicator a couple of minutes later, “What do you like to do to keep relaxed Commander?” Paddy was eager to not push his interest too far, but was also determined to prove that he was confident.

Bethy sipped at the water her smile still in place. “Old movies. Popcorn, soda, and old movies when I have the time to watch the whole movie. I also know several forms of meditation that I practice regularly.”

Gadi, CoS

“Are we talking early 21st century?” Paddy asked with a grin, taking another swig of what he realised was his third Irish Whiskey of the evening.

-Lieutenaant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

“Late 20th early 21st century. And before you ask, any genre. Depends on my mood.” Bethany watched him with a third coffee. “You’re gonna be awake all night.”

“Synthetic caffeine,” Paddy said, grinning and tapping the mug with his index finger, “Gives you the buzz, without the sleepless nights, came in handy during my Academy days during the sometimes four hour long psych exam finals I had to take.”
