Sophie stood on her chubby feet, rather unbalanced but getting used to standing. Although barely three months old, she had the size and skills of a nine-month old human baby - a result of her Ktarian heritage. NE Araten sat on the ground, holding the baby up. In the couple months since their arrival on the Asimov, Allison had slowly accrued a little support group of Officers and Crewmen who would be willing to help take care of the babies for half an hour or so during their leisure time, giving Allison much-needed breaks where she could spend time in the holosuite, read in peace, or take a long, relaxing shower.
Currently she was somewhere relaxing. Xafer Araten didn’t mind. Xafer was a young Bolian male, an engineer who was looking forward to starting a family of his own one day. Xafer saw babysitting as both an opportunity to learn a little more about parenting as well as a chance to do a good deed for his Department Head’s wife, and possibly gain some good Karma with the boss-man.
Sophie giggled, and wobbled on shaky leg away from Xafer and over to Kasper, who was happily gumming his plastic giraffe. Sophie had a little blue ghost as her teether, while Kasper had the Giraffe. It was an odd selection of teething toys, but the twins seemed to enjoy them. Apparently it was supposed to be the other way around, but the twins had gravitated towards the other’s toy when they’d first been presented.
