There was still pressure in her chest, but her breathing had evened out the longer he held her. “I’ve been having the nightmares every night,” she said quietly. “I’m tired, Pickle. And I know it’s a part of why I was even in a place to have a flashback. But… I worry about what happens if I’m triggered n this mission. That I’ll get someone or myself killed by a moment of inattentiveness. When I say I don’t know how to do this, that what I mean, that’s where my fear is. We don’t have the time for me to go back and do all the therapy I need to. I need to be ready now,” she said, her torment evident even to her own ears.

Micah squeezed her and said “You need to be ready soon, not now. And as far as therapy goes, maybe I can add a bit of a salve to the wound. ‘Cause I’m not just here because of the mission, Sha… Im here for you.” and he paused and smiled.
“I’ve been assigned to the Asimov permanently. FedSec Advisor and Liason officer.” he said quietly.

Shara pulled back and gazed at him, wide-eyed. “Wait, what?” She searched his face for the truth in his words and, finding it, felt a wave of shock flooding through her. “But… how? How will that work.” It was a tiny ship, but its mission profile was right up his alley, so maybe that was enough of an answer. The rest of her response had yet to properly percolate, but she could feel it under the surface wanted to be expressed.

Micah smiled and said “Well, I figured it like this. We just hitched and then you booked it on over here. So I figured you’d be gone a while… so… I can work from anywhere, you can’t. So if I can work from anywhere… how ‘bout I work from anywhere with you?”
