Shara pulled back and gazed at him, wide-eyed. “Wait, what?” She searched his face for the truth in his words and, finding it, felt a wave of shock flooding through her. “But… how? How will that work.” It was a tiny ship, but its mission profile was right up his alley, so maybe that was enough of an answer. The rest of her response had yet to properly percolate, but she could feel it under the surface wanted to be expressed.

Micah smiled and said “Well, I figured it like this. We just hitched and then you booked it on over here. So I figured you’d be gone a while… so… I can work from anywhere, you can’t. So if I can work from anywhere… how ‘bout I work from anywhere with you?”

For a moment she just stared at him in awe. It really was that simple, wasn’t it? Turning carefully in his lap to face him, Shara slipped her arms around Micah. “Well, I guess that means I should say welcome home. Though technically I guess that means you’re moving into my quarters. I’m sure Bethy won’t mind the extra neighbour, since we do share a lav.” He was here and he was staying. Was she okay with this mission and her role in it and how badly it was triggering her? Nope, not at all. But she knew Micah was her stable ground and with him here she could maybe breathe a little easier.
Gazing at him for a moment, Shara just let herself give into the other emotion: relief. Shara leaned in and pressed her mouth to his hungrily. Yes, she was home too.
