Bethany did a mental count, “Does it count if you were actually dying and then didn’t and said you did anyway?” That got a couple of looks but Kellin nodded, “Yep.” Bethany got up taking 3 pieces of candy. The officer working the engineering station pipped up, “Never have I ever drunk-dialed my ex.” He chuckled deeply as several of the other JOs grabbed the candy. The science officer scowled at him and hissed, “I told you that in confidence.”

Bethany remained in her seat. The joys of not dating.

There was a decided shift in the mood of the CIO as she moved forward and took yet another liquorice. She met no one’s gaze even as she smirked. “I’m losing now but there’s still time for me yet.” She popped the candy into her mouth and shuddered. She still had the others to eat as well.

“Never have I ever had a crush on a higher ranking officer,” Calloway said, feeling relief that at least time she didn’t have to take a candy.

Bethany started counting quietly on her finger and shaking her head, then held up a pointer finger like realizing something and then shook her head, “Nope…” Then she grinned hopped up and grabbed one stick and bit off a chunk and shuttered. “Worth it.”

The security officer, Ridad, Bethany’s right hand, looked at her and smirked, “Never have I ever woke up somewhere other than where I fell asleep. One for each time.” Bethany got back up from her seat grabbing 4 pieces.

Shara snorted. That was too easy, for a lot of different reasons. She grabbed two. A couple of the others grabbed one each. “You know Bethy, I think these kids might be taking great pleasure in our discomfort,” she said with a grin before working through the pile of candies in her hand. Just because her own rules said she had to grab them, didn’t mean she had to eat them all at once. That had not been one of the conditions. Details mattered.

Bethany smirked, “I’m sure they are.” But the antics of the young (did she really just think that? When did she become ‘not young’?) were easy to exploit.

Despite the terrible punishment that was eating the liquorice, Calloway had to admit that she was enjoying herself. It surprised her. Maybe because she was still finding her footing on the Asimov and because it was the first time in twenty years she’d been a part of an actual crew. Teams yes, but not a crew. Her last one had been in such a unique circumstance that she was almost wary of trying it again. But the beauty of a life as long as hers had been so far was that she could reflect on things deeply and allow ideas and feelings to percolate. She could react quickly to an urgent situation better than most, but her ability to play the long game was one of her biggest strengths.

“Never have I ever fallen asleep while on duty,” Shara said.

Every single one of them made their way to the jar. Bethany glared at Calloway. “That’s not fair, when you’re on 24/7 you fall asleep eventually, even with the really good stimulants.” Bethany got up and grabbed a candy. Sitting back down Bethany went for an easy one she knew would grab most of the JOs. “Never have I ever used the ‘forgotten’ escape hatch in Archer dormitory to sneak back in after curfew and gotten caught.” Every year the cadets thought they had found some great secret that no other class realized was there. What they didn’t know was that the faculty made sure the ‘information’ got circulated, and laid in wait on purpose.

The looks passing between the JOs made Bethany quirk a brow at Calloway and barely contain her laughter. “Oh and one piece for each time.” The looks of dread were too much and Bethany started laughing as they sheepishly tried to hide how many candies they grabbed.

Calloway actually laughed, a rare sound, especially in public. “Well, I never went to the Academy, so I guess I’m the only one safe this time,” she said with a wicked smile.

“Wait, you didn’t go to the Academy? But you’re an officer. How’d you swing that?” NE Nichols said, the frown deep set on his face.

She quirked an eyebrow and crossed her arms over her chest, right fist still holding the detestable candies. “Wow, please tell me I’m not the only one around here who pays attention to the rumour mill.”

Kellin shook his head. “She was on Voyager you twit,” he said with a smirk, giving Shara a nod.

It took perhaps a couple second too long for Nichols to piece the answer together, but Shara saw the unmistakable lightbulb go off. “You were Maquis.”

“Guilty as charged,” Shara said, studying the expressions. It was definitely notoriety but she kept an eye out for the rare person these days for whom that might still be a problem. “Never have I ever gone skinny dipping… within the last year.” It was silly because she was outing herself and forcing herself to take another liquorice (entirely not the point of the game), but that memory of being with Micah the day before they drunkenly eloped over subspace was seared into her brain in the best possible way.

She went and took a candy.

Bethany glanced around as well. Her mentor had been out there too, and had gotten a first hand account of some things, not everything. Bethany personally didn’t have a problem with the Maquis. If she’d been older, she would have been a staunch supporter, but that was she hoped a moot point. They were all in this together now. Bethany grinned, “Not me. I’ve not been home in…oh 5 years.” Most everyone kind of shrugged, then Ridad swaggered his way down to the jar, “I’m taken 5, not because I have to, but because it was soooo worth it.” It got laughs out of most everyone.

The helm officer turned around and eyed Gadi and then Calloway. They both had a reputation and rumors abounded. They had both helped them all make transitions for their new personas. “Never have I ever pretended to make out with someone.” The girl was pretty sure the two women had done a lot of things as part of a cover.

Bethany got up and snagged a piece. Ridad piped up, “Who?!” She glanced up at him, “Someone who can keep a secret, so we know it wasn’t you Ridad.”
