Focusing on her again he dropped his hands and said “Any fevers, weight loss?” While he patted his pockets, looking for something on his person. Whatever he was looking for wasn’t there apparently and he sighed deeply as if this was the most inconvenient thing imaginable.

“No fevers, and maybe some weight loss. I don’t exactly weigh myself daily, Doc, but an increased exercise routine can do that. Of course that didn’t last long” She had to do something if she wasn’t sleeping, but that solution hadn’t lasted because that didn’t make her heart rate go down.

“Damn…no tricorder and no stethoscope. Bloody Klingons.” He muttered again. “Can I tempt you to visit sickbay? Or somewhere with a replicator so I can get some equipment.” He asked

“Well that leaves you two options, the Mess Hall or Sickbay. But the mess hall seems rather public.” Bethany waved down the corridor to the nearest left, “So why don’t you tempt away.”

“After you.” Ryley said stepping back and turning. He leaned on his cane a moment and set off back towards where he thought sickbay was at.

“Any other symptoms? And any treatments not revolving around breathing exercises and meditation?”

One of his recently healed ribs gave a pull and he made a slight face as they continued.

Bethany shook her head, “I am surprisingly healthy and minimal injuries considering my profession.” She pressed the call button and then stepped into the lift. “Possibly a headache. I have a burning headache. My head feels like it’s burning and being scalped, and then it’s gone. I thought it was from the lack of solid sleep instead of a symptom.”

Gadi

Ryley puffed air between his cheeks as he listened. “I tend to treat everything as a symptom until it’s not…”He leaned on the cane as they traveled in the turbo lift. When they exited onto sickbays deck he added “you’re betazed right? Any issues with your abilities. Have the headaches caused any feedback or distortion?”

Ryley
MD

“That’s why you’re the doc and not me.” She stepped off the lift after him, heading toward sickbay. “I’m only half Betazoid, and inherited none of those abilities from my father. Adolescence came and went, and no budding little telepath. He was rather disappointed.”

Gadi, CoS

Ryley looked mildly confused and disbelieving all at once. “Really?” He asked. “A mystery wrapped in an enigma…I like it.” He was smirking again. “Any family history of heart issues, palpitations etc etc and so on.”

Bethany shook her head, “Not that I am aware of. Though I’m pretty sure my great uncles probably have something wrong with them. They’re older than dirt, the body has to start breaking down sometime. They claim to be perfectly healthy and still work like they did when they were 50.”

As they reached sickbay he limped ahead of her to a replicator rapping a biobed with his cane while he passed. “Sit. Take off the shoes. ” He said and began tapping at the replicator for a few minutes. Removing a tangle of metal and tubing and a tricorder he made a face at it as he walked back over.

“Yes, Sir.” Bethany hopped up onto the bio bed and tugged off her boots letting them thud softly to the floor. She eyed the tangle of parts and smirked.

“Damn Klingons took my damn backpack. God knows what they did with it. Lost my tricorder.” He explained as he placed the newly replicated one on the biobed beside her and started untangling the tubing.

“This is a stethoscope, I’m gunna go ahead and assume you don’t know what it is. If I, wrong and you do I don’t care I’m gonna explain anyway, it’s ancient and I’m going to use it to listen to your heart. It needs to go on your chest.” He put the ear buds into his ears and rubbed the diaphragm slightly then held it up and waited for her permission.

“Really?” her eyes danced, “Doc this keeps getting better and better. Go right ahead.”

“Kiiinnndda gonna need you to loose the shirt.” He said.

Bethany looked at him, a bit serious, but with that ever present grin. “Jacket or shirt and jacket?” She unzipped the jacket and shrugged it off, draping it over the end of the bio bed. “I’m just not that kind of girl. You want the shirt too you’re gonna have to get us some privacy.”
