Though she had returned to her new ‘uniform’, she hadn’t been in character today. It had been too hard a struggle to find that place again. Right now was no different. Tomorrow though, that was a different story. Tomorrow she’d be so deep in that all semblance of this Shara Calloway would have vanished unless you specifically knew what to look for. That was the game of characters. Truth and fiction mashed into one.

But that didn’t mean that they couldn’t have a little fun right now. She turned in a slow, circle ending so her back was to him. Shara glanced over her shoulder and down slightly towards the faux leather leggings that covered her lower half, before casting her gaze back up at him, her foggy blue eyes alit. “Well, I suppose now it won’t be spoiling things if you give this fine ass a healthy glance when we’re in public. After all, especially in this get-up I look good.”

“You’d look good inna burlap sack, and you know it.” Micah said with a grin.

Shara just winked.

Stepping forward, she held her arms up out and lifted them slowly as she sauntered away. “Drink it in, Pickle,” she said as she disappeared for a shower.

~Shara, Flirty Wife

“Like a man dyin’ a thirst, wife. Holler if’n ya need help getting those hard-to-reach spots” he called after her and watched the door slide closed. Pikelsimer chuckled and shook his head slightly before turning to the replicator and starting to get some food put together. Meats, cheese, and some crackers filled a platter; and from a cabinet he pulled out an actual bottle of wine and two glasses. Setting everything on the table, he tookoff his jacket and took a seat.

A sonic shower didn’t take long but it was a moment for her to collect herself and the fact that now the whole ship knew they ere married. Did she have a problem with it? Not really. But it was a risk, though like he said it was riskier trying to keep secrets. But try telling her head that. The issue with her being triggered right now is that her symptoms ramped up when people she cared about were in danger. And being openly married put them in a position where someone could take advantage of that.

Good thing the two of them were tough as nails and willing to give a beat down where necessary. It wasn’t normally her style, but on this crazy-ass mission anything went it seemed.

When she emerged from the refresher, Shara’s hair hung in loose waves and she definitely looked more relaxed, despite the fatigue etched into her features. She eyed the table and smiled. “Nice spread,” she said, moving to take a seat. A romantic little meal before curling up next to him? Sounded perfect.

~Shara

“What can I say, I press good buttons.” Micah replied with a grin and poured Shara a glass before pouring one for himself. He leaned back and looked at his wife and said “So? How are ya doin’ after yer shower, then? Feel any better?”

She inhaled deeply and let the breath expel between her lips. “A bit, yes. This isn’t… this isn’t like most of the ops I did. Even in a small team, I was the one deep undercover that passed information where it needed to go and a lot of the unknowns were dealt with by others. I was just the person gathering and passing. Even if the stakes were high, they never felt that way.” Shara paused to take a sip of her wine, momentarily wondering if it was a good idea after the hangover she had woken up with.

“This though, this is about as helpless as I’ve felt in awhile. Not like with Faye of course, but it’s bringing up all the same stuff. I’m becoming connected here Pickle. Regardless of how people here view me, I’m attached, in a way I’ve never been allowed to be. And that attachment makes this harder, makes doing what I need to, be who I need to be to keep this crew safe, harder. People I care about in danger if my trigger and I don’t know what to do about that.”

~Shara Calloway, CIO

Micah smiled a half smile and said “Nothin’. Ain’t nuthin’ to do about it besides use it. You and I both know that sometimes… shit is just what it is sometimes. Our job is to take that pile and try to make it somethin’ better, somethin’ useful.” and he laughed softly. “Like this damn Counselor. I swear the boy has bees for brains, but there is somethin’ there worth knocking into place.” and he took a sip of wine and then said “I know this is rough on ya, hun. I do. But don’t forget that you and I have somethin’ that we ain’t never had before on a job.” and he reached out and set his hand on hers.

“We got us.”

Micah

Picking up a cracker, Shara layered cheese and a cold cut on top with deliberate motions. “That is very true,” she said before munching on her bite. The crunch of the crackers felt oddly satisfying at the moment as if it might release micro-amounts of tension. As she considered his statement, she couldn’t help but smile. Right now smiling felt like a luxury, as did honest to goodness laughs. But as Shara took in her husband’s face all she could feel was this absolute adoration. It shone in her eyes. She had done a lot of hard things in her life. But the for the first time in decades she felt like it was easier.

Reaching her hand our, she found his and gave it a squeeze. “I’m grateful for you,” she said softly.

~Shara

Micah smiled a crooked smile and said “Naw… you’re grateful you got a ‘shine supply. The fact the runner is easy on the eyes is just a bonus.” and he grabbed a slice 9f meat and some cheese and popped it in his mouth.
