Patrick McMillan was not looking forward to this. Since his… mistake, he had only come across Commander Shara Calloway walking in the Asimov‘s many corridors. It was safe to say that the young counselor had not been keen to maintain eye contact with her for very long. But he knew that the time for the two officers to come together in counselling meetings would have to come eventually, so Paddy wanted to nip the negativity in the bud before it could start. Leaving his office, he started at a brisk pace to Commander Calloway’s quarters, took a few calming breaths and clicked the door chime.

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counselor-

For the time being her old quarters were serving as an office, something she didn’t actually have on this tiny ship. Yes, Micah had a good set-up in theirs but she had already set everything up the way she liked it and for now it served a purpose. No one was going to need the room until this whole thing was over anyway.

The chime surprised her. Mostly because anyone she would have expected probably wouldn’t bother with the chime, even if the door was locked.

Rising to her feet, she pulled her form-fitting grey leather jacket down and strutted over to the door, fully in character. Taping in a code, the door slipped open to reveal McMillian. Shara scowled. “What?”

“Good evening,” Paddy said, surpressing a nervous chuckle, “Do you mind if I come in?”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counselor-

Wariness touched her face before Shara stepped back to allow him entrance. “If you must,” she said simply.

Her old quarters were bare aside from obvious work stuff. A dual computer screen set-up was off and there was a stack of PaDDs on the desk. All of the personal items that might have been there had been moved to her and Micah’s shared quarters.

Folding her arms across her chest, Shara said nothing else and just gazed at him.

“First off, let me start by apologising for what I said during our pre-mission briefing, I totally misread the situation and for that I apologise, I already spoke to your husband to apologise to him as well… I think he took it well.” Paddy shuffled awkwardly for a moment.

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counselor-

Arms still folded across her chest, Shara gazed at him, though the hardness was gone. “Well, the fact that spoke to Micah and are still standing bodes well for you I guess.”

Drawing in a deep breath, Shara let her lungs fully expand. There was something reassuring about feeling the strain against her ribs and it allowed her an extra moment to consider what to say to this man. “I don’t trust you. And that’s a problem, especially given the issues I deal with. One I’m not sure how to go about fixing or if we can.”

Paddy remained standing, not wanting to aggravate Shara more than he already had, ‘What is it about me you don’t trust Commander?’
