The team materialized at the back of a dimly lit passageway. Emergency lighting was on, but there was smoke in the air. The sounds of yelling could be heard far off ahead… and the ship smelled of old body odor and some kind of bio-chemical. The display on their tricorders showed they were inside one of the large maintenance passages the Tellarites used in their vessels to more easily move equipment and facilitate repairs. According to the map, ahead was a single hatch that would put them into the main passageway leading to the bridge at one end, turbolifts at the other.

As they materialized, rifles at the read, and the tricorders started displaying data, Ridad and his team spread out moving towards the hatch. Ridad had his hand on the panel and two of his officers were ready to start the sweep as soon as the doors opened, two more behind them. “On your mark, Calloway.”

Shara gave a small nod and moved forward towards the bridge with silent steps. “We have to go ahead to the bridge. Ridad, once we’re in and we’ve subdued any crew we need to, you’ll open the seal on the cargo hold and we head back down this way. Anyone appears, shoot ‘em. We can’t take any risks here.” And escaping crew who could gather and mount a counter-attack would inly make this whole thing worse. She’s rather leave a trail of stunned bodies than have a shoot-out and actually kill anyone. They might not be able to avoid it, but she could sure as hell try.

Ridad nodded, “Yes ma’am.” He would prefer simple in and out without a fire fight, but he was realistic. Hopefully unlocking the cargo seal wasn’t going to be a problem. But he supposed that’s why they had Gadi sitting back on the Rabid Pelican.

Approaching the hatch, she aimed her phaser rifle and signalled to the person closest to her to open the hatch. Here went nothing.

The woman switched her grip and hit the controls and then hatch hissed as it opened. The rest of the team stood ready and began to pour through the hatch as soon as it was open, scanning and sweeping in all directions.

The passageway was empty of personnel, but voices could be heard from the right hand side, away from the bridge. “Damned if I know who they are! All I know is that we’re dead in the water and if we don’t get the shields back up the Captain will have our hides!” “How the hell are we supposed to fix the shields?!?! They just got blasted right off the hull!” The voices continued to argue but faded into the distance.

Pikelsimer stepped out into the passage and peered through narrowed eyes at the retreating voices. He then turned and moved to the left.

Soon the ‘pirates’ were assembled outside the door to the bridge. Pikelsimer attached a small device to the door and began counting down from five on his fingers for all to see. As he dropped the last finger, the doors made a POP noise and slid open forcefully. Inside was the freighter’s bridge… and seven crew members of varying species who all looked shocked and startled.
