The team materialized at the back of a dimly lit passageway. Emergency lighting was on, but there was smoke in the air. The sounds of yelling could be heard far off ahead… and the ship smelled of old body odor and some kind of bio-chemical. The display on their tricorders showed they were inside one of the large maintenance passages the Tellarites used in their vessels to more easily move equipment and facilitate repairs. According to the map, ahead was a single hatch that would put them into the main passageway leading to the bridge at one end, turbolifts at the other.

As they materialized, rifles at the read, and the tricorders started displaying data, Ridad and his team spread out moving towards the hatch. Ridad had his hand on the panel and two of his officers were ready to start the sweep as soon as the doors opened, two more behind them. “On your mark, Calloway.”

Ridad

Shara gave a small nod and moved forward towards the bridge with silent steps. “We have to go ahead to the bridge. Ridad, once we’re in and we’ve subdued any crew we need to, you’ll open the seal on the cargo hold and we head back down this way. Anyone appears, shoot ‘em. We can’t take any risks here.” And escaping crew who could gather and mount a counter-attack would inly make this whole thing worse. She’s rather leave a trail of stunned bodies than have a shoot-out and actually kill anyone. They might not be able to avoid it, but she could sure as hell try.

Ridad nodded, “Yes ma’am.” He would prefer simple in and out without a fire fight, but he was realistic. Hopefully unlocking the cargo seal wasn’t going to be a problem. But he supposed that’s why they had Gadi sitting back on the Rabid Pelican.

Approaching the hatch, she aimed her phaser rifle and signalled to the person closest to her to open the hatch. Here went nothing.

The woman switched her grip and hit the controls and then hatch hissed as it opened. The rest of the team stood ready and began to pour through the hatch as soon as it was open, scanning and sweeping in all directions.

Ridad

The passageway was empty of personnel, but voices could be heard from the right hand side, away from the bridge. “Damned if I know who they are! All I know is that we’re dead in the water and if we don’t get the shields back up the Captain will have our hides!” “How the hell are we supposed to fix the shields?!?! They just got blasted right off the hull!” The voices continued to argue but faded into the distance.

Pikelsimer stepped out into the passage and peered through narrowed eyes at the retreating voices. He then turned and moved to the left.

Soon the ‘pirates’ were assembled outside the door to the bridge. Pikelsimer attached a small device to the door and began counting down from five on his fingers for all to see. As he dropped the last finger, the doors made a POP noise and slid open forcefully. Inside was the freighter’s bridge… and seven crew members of varying species who all looked shocked and startled.

Ridad and his team didn’t hesitate as the doors opened. Their weapons were set to maximum stun and they poured through the door, Ridad first already shooting as he moved to the side and dropped a knee. They fired at the bridge crew in a clean aimed shots taking advantage of the crews shock.

Ridad

Shara slipped in after Ridad, and fired off a shot, making contact.

Two of the crew dropped immediately, having no time to react to the burst of fire that fell upon them. The rest dove for cover and, to their credit, sealed the door to the bridge cutting the pirates off from some of their fellows.

The problem with taking a ship, even a freighter, was a crew’s willingness to fight, and of course their familiarity with the layout. With only two days to prep, the team had drilled and drilled, but it was all based off of supposition. Educated guesses. But they weren’t there to take the ship. Hitting the bridge only made sense for countering security measures and possibly accessing the cargo manifest, and having operational control over the ship.

The six person team pressed into the bridge in a classic dynamic entry with each side traveling along the walls attempting to create the L they needed by taking the points of domination, though the advance halted with Ridad taking a knee. They didn’t need to spread out too much, instead presenting a strong wall and a base of fire to get fire superiority. In such a tight space, most fights were over in seconds. Ridad, Calloway, and Pikelsimmer were the one, two, and three person’s through the door. NE Forbes was right behind them, moving with Ridad. Since his team lead took the knee, he shifted into High-Low position, with Ridad being the low, and shooting over his head, his knee practically in Ridad’s back and both able to feel the contact, feel how each other was moving.

His first couple of shots took down one of the crew, and he traversed to the next closest to his line of fire and let off another pair of quick tapping shots, four shots in less than a second, and for him, it was fast but controlled, about 90% of his max speed.

“Cover me,” Calloway said as she beelined for a console and began working the system, trying to identify where exactly they were keeping the key items they wanted to steal. Her rifle was slung from its holder and she could grab it quick, but she needed both hands to work as quickly as she could. She had studied the systems ahead of time too and was prepared to break in quickly if needed. She doubted she’d need much of her skills though. Meanwhile, her mind noted that the team simply acted and without hesitation. good. Maybe they’d get out of this alive and accomplish their task after all.

It was an intense thirty seconds, but four of the seven Tellerites were down. “WE SURRENDER!” one of them yelled and arms went up in the remaining three. Quick, and no casualties past some headaches in a few hours.

The three Tellerites stood up slowly as the firing ceased. Just as Calloway gained access and control of the ship’s systems and the door to the bridge slid open.

One of the Tellerites glared at the invaders and said “You have no idea the amount of hurt you have coming down on you, you filth. And I’m gonna make sure you all pay. I will do everything I ca-” and a shot of sickly greenish-pink energy blasted a hole in the forehead of porcine-faced speaker who crumpled to the deck… dead.

Pikelsimer took aim at the other two figures and said very slowly “Anybody else want to speak up? No? Ah, well…” and he lowered the Jem’hadar pistol slowly and menacingly. He then looked at the pirates and said “I think they got the message.” and chuckled.
