Patrick McMillan realised that as the Counsellor aboard the Rabid Pelican, using his skills as a people person would come in handy when trying to make friends, or possibly even enemies based the kind of people Agent Pikelsimer had warned the crew that they might encounter. Paddy had never really ventured much outside of Federation Space, and hadn’t had much of an opportunity to visit Deep Space Nine in his Starfleet career thus far, so to say he wasn’t sure wasn’t sure what to expect from The Cloud was proving to be a rather large understatement

Wandering around, Paddy came to a large centre square, several traders appeared to be either setting up for the day, or already in the process of selling their wares. Paddy realised there was no time like the present, and approached one of the closest stalls.

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

The stall was selling obviously second-hand tech: burned isolinear chips, shorted power relays, the odd worn and more-than-likely non-functional disruptor. The trader, a Bolian male, smiled at the approach of a potential customer. “Welcome!! Welcome friend to Myzat’s Exotic Wares! Whatever you can think of, I can find. If you don’t see what you need, just ask! I have inventory unlike any on the Cloud!”

GM

Paddy grinned, Showtime he thought, “I’m not sure I’m in the market for technology Mr - Myzat, is it? I’m new to the Cloud. I was looking to begin trading myself, is there anyone in particular I need to speak with?”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

The Bolian’s eyes narrowed slightly and a grin spread over his face. “Trade, is it? Well well well.. a fellow entrepreneur! My friend, you are speaking to exactly the right person! I have been on the Cloud for over ten standard years now. I know everyone… and they know me! I am happy to assist a newcomer, too! So tell me friend, what is your name? And what sort of ‘trade’ do you bring to the table?”

“I guess you could say my trade is… people,” Paddy said, his grin widening. “I am very good at reading people, the only human that can do it without any form of telepathic power, is that something The Cloud could be interested in?”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

The Bolian grinned and said “The only hu-” and he cut himself off by laughing. “The only human? My friend my friend my friend… this is The Cloud. NO ONE lasts here unless they can read others.” and they laughed some more. “Oh my… please, whatever you do, do NOT get in a card game here if you think that. You’ll be sold off as chattle in ten minutes.” and they laughed some more.

After a moment, they calmed down and fixed on the man. “Now seriously…” and his eyes narrowed, “… what trade do you have? Tech? Weapons? Drugs? Flesh? Whatever you have, I am interested. But if you were serious about your ability… look over your left shoulder. Two Denoblians and a Ferengi talking to a Anticancer trader. Tell me what yiu see, and what you suggest I do with what you see.”

GM

OOC: So sorry for going AWOL so long, time has been getting away from me!

Paddy grinned, “You know I normally charge for this sort of thing, but as I’m sure you seem like a reputable business person, the first one is on me.” Paddy tilted his head to the side and saw what looked like two rather stressed looking Denoblians alongside a rather agitated looking Ferengi. Paddy’s lib reading skills weren’t fantastic, so he decided that improvising would be his best course of action, “The Ferengi and the Denoblians are trying to sell something to that trader, but something about the merchandise seems… off.”

Myzat grinned. “Ok, tell you what human. You go to them, ask them what they are looking for. Regardless of what it is, tell them I have it. Bring them here. You do that, I give you ten percent of any sale they pay for. Deal?”

GM

Paddy grinned, “Fifteen and I bring the whole Cloud in your direction, business is business after all.”

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

The merchant’s eyes narrowed and he said “Twelve. And I give you a discount on anything you buy from me.” He then spit in his hand and held it out to McMillan.

Gm

“You drive a hard bargain Myzat, done.” Paddy spit into his hand and accepted the handshake, feeling that this contact within the Cloud could be both a blessing AND a curse.

-Lieutenant Patrick McMillan: Counsellor-

There was grin and then Myzat said “Deal is done. Now go! Go get them! bring them back here!”

GM

Paddy crossed to the centre of the Marketplace and waited for an appropriate moment to slide into the conversation of the Ferengi and the Denobulan, “Gentlemen, do you mind if I interrupt? I have a proposition for you.”
