Mwezi considered it, then fiddled with his phaser for a moment, setting it to Maximum. “Give me a moment… Let’s get some target practice.”

He pressed up against the wall, then spun into full view of the trio, letting off three precise shots before ducking back into the shadows on the other side of the hallway. A moment later, there were three thuds as the bodies hit the floor. Mwezi grinned at Shara. “Guess my practice earlier paid off.”

There was a reason that his time as an officer had been in Security.

Shara smirked. “Come on Princess, let’s keep going,” she said to her captive. She was willing to just stun the woman if needed but for the moment she felt it useful to keep someone with them, even if it slowed them down a little.

“Let’s keep going, we’re still on the clock as it were.” Shara could fight like hell when and if needed, but she was best at other things and right now she just wanted to get to their target.

Mwezi glanced back at Shara and her captive, who had paled slightly at how quickly and easily her comrades had been downed. “So, still unwilling to talk?”

The woman glared at him, still saying nothing. “Maybe we should ditch this one and find a more talkative one?” Mwezi suggested as he slunk down the hallway.

She hated that he was right, but at this point they were running out of possible ‘aides’. “How many lifeforms are you detecting in the direction we’re going?”

Mwezi paused and took a deep breath, then paused a little more and listened. “I can hear the shuffling of feet in that direction, couldn’t give you a count though.” He gestured down one corridor. “And based on the smell that corridor is giving off, there’s at least one in that direction, although they’re being very quiet,” he pointed in the other direction. “A hint of fear from the one that’s alone.”

Mwezi, XO

“Sounds like a good target,” Shara said and then, knowing her weapon was on heavy stun, she let her prisoner go suddenly, took a step back adn then fired, catching her body as she fell. Shara laid her on the ground and said, “Told you I don’t kill unless I absolutely need to.”

“Let’s go,” Shara said quietly as she gestured for Mwezi to continue.

Mwezi nodded thoughtfully, although he didn’t agree with her reasoning. Then again, he knew the context of the program better than she did. Luckily, in the history the program was based on, the infiltration team had found the target. He crouched and proceeded towards the frightened smell.

Mwezi, XO

Shara moved along with silent steps, Following Mwezi as they carved a path towards a potential new hostage. Maybe this person would be more inclined to give up the information they needed in order to shorten this mission. Her whole body was attuned to the space and she let herself once again be on the prowl.

Mwezi carefully sniffed the air, honing in on the smell like a hunting dog. His fist gripped tightly to his serrated blade, he lightly gestured towards a door, waiting for Shara to get in position before nudging it open. Nothing happened, so he entered, trusting Shara to watch his back as he entered the room.

Weapon at the ready in her right hand, her other hand was on another concealed (but easily drawn) weapon. She nodded her readiness, her stance primed for immediate action if needed.

What he found was not what he’d expected.

Mwezi, XO

She stepped in behind him, weapon drawn and looked around.
