Solit stepped into the area and noted the limited space available. The thought that some of his department might be working out of here was still difficult to grasp, but it did mean that he would need to be familiar with the Chief Medical Officer. If some members of the Science department were going to be cross-trained in medical skills, he wanted to have some say in when that training would take place, if his personnel did not already possess that particular set of skills. He had heard that one of the helmsmen on the ill-fated and miraculously-returned USS Voyager had served as a nurse because the medical staff had died on their journey to the Delta Quadrant. Cross training with limited crew seemed to be the way with Starfleet, instead of just making ships that could have an adequate number of crew members.

Commander Idari was certain that, were there any Medical personnel aboard, one of them would notice him soon enough.

Sure enough, a few moments after his arrival, a small woman with rosy cheeks and a mop of curly dark hair appeared holding a crate of equipment and supplies. Apparently the last for the new refitted sickbay. She smiled warmly.

“Hello…” she peered at his collar “…commander. Can I be is any assistance.” In truth she was new too, just assigned.

“It seems that I have come aboard relatively early,” Solit said. “I hope that my records have transferred over. I was hoping to get my physical handled - beat the rush, as it were, given the size of practically all the facilities aboard.”

Bailey considered him.

He eyed the crate, and once again the thought of short missions and limited supplies came to mind. He absent-mindedly stroked one of his neck ridges as a stress management technique.

“Of course, if Sickbay is not yet ready for actual medical procedures, I can return at a more convenient time.”

She smiled again. “I understand, i can have a look for you if you wish and of it is in I can do the basics boarding physical. If not, or you’d rather wait for the doctor then I can book you an appointment.” She went to the nearest computer terminal and logging in looked to see if the information had indeed been transferred.

Nurse

“I am sure you are a capable physician,” Solit replied. “Commander Idari Solit, transferred from the USS Cowpens.”

He eyed the Sickbay area a little more closely.

“It would seem that your rotations will be shorter than most, at least as far as staff actually present in Sickbay.”

Bailey nodded. “ I imagine you will be right, it’ll be a nice change for me at any rate.” She laughed and indicated a biobed. “Have a seat, I’ll get a tricorder”

She moved off to a cupboard and did so then returned, as she booted the device up she looked at him again. “So big ship you just came from?”

Bailey
Nurse

“Compared to the Brazen-class, practically everything is big, but Starfleet does have bigger ships,” Solit replied. “The Cowpens was a good research ship, but I’m well aware that the Manhattan-class vessels dwarf it. It seems that I may be one of the few individuals to transfer from a bigger ship to a smaller vessel - unless you, also, have come from a larger ship. One of my subordinates transferred from a Nova-class.”

Solit paused.

“As far as my medical history, have you treated individuals with four humanoid species in their ancestry before?”
