“Very normal. Dull even.” It was clear if he knew that was rude, Lucas didn’t care. “Do you do anything for yourself? Anything original?”

-Dr Lucas Calvin

“I… crochet?” Adeline offered, a nervous tone creeping back into her voice. She wasn’t aware that being… normal… was a problem. “Is that what you mean?”

Dr. McGill

“Crochet? Now. Is that your definition of wild, or is there a little adventure in you? ‘Cause someone blew up the Asimov-C. We need the extraordinary. You’re a doctor? You have 30 seconds, patient collapses and loses lower gross motor function. Go.”

-Dr Lucas Calvin

“Wha… what?” Adeline questioned, her eyes widening even more at the unexpected quiz. “If you doubt my medical credentials, I graduated with reasonably good grades and I passed all of my practical examinations…” her voice trailed off again.

Dr. McGill

“You know the medicine. Can you use it under pressure? Someone can die if you freeze. Die. I want you to understand that. You, as a person, are perfectly sane. I just need to know if you can handle being a doctor. Can you?”

-Dr Lucas Calvin

Adeline looked momentarily confused at the question. “Of course I can,” she stammered in response and then took a visible deep breath to steady herself. Her blue eyes darkened slightly in annoyance. “It doesn’t seem like you’re particularly familiar with the medical curriculum at Starfleet Academy and Starfleet Medical.”
