…clunk…clunk…clunk…“You alright back there Lt?” the young shuttle pilot asked. “You seem more nervous than a first year cadet?” He added, looking back at the young Haliian woman with a sparkling new pip on her collar.
Lari sat chewing her fingernail in the back of the shuttlecraft for a moment before she noticed the pilot staring at her. “Hmm…?” She replied, still not used to being addressed at Lt. “Who me?” She added as she stopped tapping her boot against the bulkhead.
She quickly sat up in her seat and straightened her uniform. “Yes, sorry, it’s just I’ve been away for a while…I’m fine…” she mused as she glanced out across the stars.
The official reason for her sabbatical and subsequent transfer had been listed simply as personal but Lari still felt uneasy and somewhat embarrassed about how her first assignment had unfolded. It seemed like such a long time ago now and she had grown up a lot since, besides, everyone needed a crazy ex story. Lari was finally ready to get back to doing what she loved as a doctor.
As they approached the Asimov, Lari snapped out of thoughts of the past and looked towards her next chapter, a new start she hoped. She quickly smoothed her hair and instinctively brushed the creases out of her uniform as the shuttle pilot opened the comm.
=^= Shuttlecraft Samsara to USS Asimov requesting permission to dock with a Lt (jg) Larian Naktal. =^= his all business voice rang through sub space.

Natalie was on the Bridge working with a new communications officer =^=Permission granted Samsara. Welcome aboard.=^= She said and the directed the young officer on how to close the comm link “Always, always always remember to close that comm link.” She said “Diplomatic incidents have happened over an open comm link. ” She said patting the young man on the back. “You’ll get the hang of it.” She assured him.

The pilot gave a quick nod to Lari as he replied.
=^= Acknowledged Asimov, commencing docking procedure. Samsara out. =^=Lari took a deep breath as she looked out at her new home for the first time. She quickly gathered up her bags and did one last straighten of her tunic as the shuttle came to a stop and the pilot gave her a wink. “Welcome home Lt…” he said with a smile as the shuttle hatch began to open. Lari gave a warm smile back and nodded as she tentatively stepped out onto the deck and had her first look around.

A pale man in command red with light coloured hair stood waiting, his hands clasped. Behind his back. He glanced at Lari. ”Doctor Naktal?” he asked And held an icy pale hand out to her. ”Commander Kaida, ships first officer. I’m here as your welcoming committee so to speak.” he said with a grin.
