SNIP

A second waitress brought over some hot green tea. The tea looked fresh and nothing like the replicated stuff. “The tea is complimentary service,” said the first waitress, as she put down the drink in front of Sara. “Anyone else would like something to drink?” asked the first waitress.

GM

Amber glanced at the tea. “Tea for me as well…” she glanced around the table to see who else wanted a drink. As she did so, she settled into the seat she was offered, her tricorder shifting to her lap as if it was the only place to politely set it. In doing so, she scanned the tea and the room to be sure there was nothing in it that would be an issue for them.

Lillian sat quietly in the corner then the waitress offered tea
“yes pls I could go some tea” Lillian said as the Doctor scanned the room.
“do you think they know there between two worlds?” Lillian asked as the waitress seamed unaware of there place in this world

“I’ll have a tea as well,” said the young NE.

The first waitress had left the table to make her rounds after Lane placed her drink order. The second waitress brought the tea immediately and placed it in front of the three people who ordered it and the drink that Lane ordered as well. They were left alone for awhile. The first waitress disappeared into the back after tending to the customers there.

“How could they not?” asked the NE.

It was 5 minutes later, the first waitress returned with some menus that apparently had been recently cleaned. “I am terribly sorry for the wait, but it has been awhile since we’ve used these particular menus.”

She handed over the 5 menus, which were written in English. “Thank you very much for dining with us. Please, take your time looking at the menus,” said the first waitress, “If you have any questions, my name is Masami Yasuda, I will be happy to answer them for you.”

“It’s in English?!” exclaimed the NE softly, after the waitress left, “These menus look old… and recently cleaned of dust. Sirs, I think she knows we’re different from her regular customers… Perhaps the polite thing to do is to order some food and see if the chef and Ms. Yasuda have time to speak with us.”

Amber nodded. “I agree. If they are aware, perhaps they have the technology to null the field around the ship, even temporarily, till we can get off the planet. Though I certainly wouldn’t bring that up right away. I don’t think it is a trap, but you never know. No point in giving away our vulnerability till we know if we can trust them or not.” She didn’t like the idea of ‘not’ trusting them. But it wasn’t just her she had to worry about. The entire crew, and their ship, were the main consideration.

“And I admit a bit of curiosity about the ‘in flux’ thing. If they are between worlds, is this the only world that can access this place. And if it isn’t, how will we be sure when we leave that we will return to the world we need to be on?” She voiced her largest concern and wondered if anyone else had given that particular thought a passing glance.

“Doctor, correct me if I’m wrong, but can you perform an RNA analysis with your medical tricorder to determine the quantum signature of the people here against us?” asked the NE, “I recall in my quantum mechanics class at the academy, parallel universes have different quantum signatures. What if this restaurant is Earth? The newspaper over there has the date of April 5th, 2014 – If it is any indication of technology sophistication, I doubt they have any technological means to assist us – other than perhaps securing a reliable source of food and information.”

GM

Amber glanced down at her tricorder and turned it sideways to catch one of the waitresses passing by. “I can… give me a moment. And while it’s scanning, I actually think the fact that this place is showing as 2014 and they are aware of the fact we are not ‘locals’ might actually mean they are the only ones with the ability to help us. Surely there has to be a way to make them sit on a parallel universe version of an intersection.” Her back to the door, she glanced at the others. “Keep an eye on the door, if you can. See if there is any change in ‘outside’ as folks enter. May give us a clue how many places have access to this one.”

She glanced at the tricorder as it took the scans of those in the room. She scanned the waitress and another client sitting at the next table.

The client at the table read that they were not of the same universe as the away team, and the waitress registered a different quantum signature from the client and the away team. The door’s flux registered both quantum signatures of the waitress’ and the client’s. A party finished dining and got up to leave, and as before, there was no change in their quantum signature. In effect, the door was a stable parallel universal wormhole… a portal, if they were to adopt the fantasy term.

GM

Amber shook her head in disbelief. “There are various quantum signatures in the room, but the door is reading like a stable parallel wormhole. It seems no matter where you come from, you get here. And your signature is what links you to your home wormhole to get you back.” She had such a look of awe on her face it was more than evident to those at the table as she lifted her eyes from the tricorder to look at each of the other party members.

OOC: I would like to clarify my previous post. Say that the crew members of the ship are group A, the customers of the world that the ship crashed on is group B, and the staff of the restaurant is group C. Group A does not equal group B, group A does not equal to group C, group B does not equal group C. In plain terms: The Asimov has crashed into a parallel universe. The restaurant also happens to be in a different parallel universe from the world that the Asimov has crashed on AND a different parallel universe from their own.
