Tapping her fingers against the hard surface of her desk, Zenobia briefly scanned over the PaDD before her. She had spoken with Jade before, upon her arrival to the Memorial, but she wasn’t certain how keen she was upon these evaluations. Shrugging, she chose to take her chances, tapping her badge.

=^=Lissan to Commander Jones, do you have a second to chat?=^=

Jade was in her quarters talking to her daughter on earth when the com call came in =^=I will be there shortly=^= Jade replied. Mia, Jade’s daughter looked at her strangly she hadn’t heard anything “It was our new counselor she speaks telepathically.” Jade said simply

“Oh that explains that” the 13 year half Andorian Mia said “I’ll talk to you again next week. Love and miss you” she added.

“Love and miss you to” Jade said as she closed the channel. Once the channel was closed Jade walked out of her quarters. A few moments later she arrived and the CNS’s office and rang the chime.

Cmdr Jones (XO)

OOC: Not gonna lie, that was a cute exchange between Mia and Jade!

IC: Surprised by how quickly the Commander had responded, Lissan glanced over at her monitor, pulling up Jade’s file for reference. “Come in!” She called, though her transmitter eliminated the exact vibrance she had intended by the invitation. Unfortunately, it was one of the many downfalls of speaking through a machine.

Jade entered the room. “Counselor how can i help you” she asked as she took a seat in front of Lissan “Have you had any issues settling in?” she added genuine concern in hr voice. Jade hoped it wasn’t anything to bad after all the counselor had just got here.

Cmdr Jones (XO)

None to worry, Commander.” Lissan assured with a dismissive wave of her hand. Her gaze was friendly, expressing a certain amicability intended to promote a welcoming atmosphere. “I only commed you to get your annual psych evaluation out of the way.” A short paused, “If that is all right with you, Jones.

“I see” Jade sad simply “Well seeing as I’m here. I guess we can get it over with now”she said respectfully. Jade wasn’t the biggest fan of evals. However she knew they where important and Jade was very late with hers.

Cmdr Jones (XO)

I take it you’re not to great a fan of these evals?” She observed, rising to her feet so Jade could choose if she wanted to sit on the couch or before the desk.

Jade had already sat down in front of the desk “Have you ever met anyone who is?” Jade asked “I know there’re essential but i just don’t like being examined. Besides I’ve had a couple bad experiences with counsellors, so I’m always apprehensive.” she said truthfully.

Cmdr Jones (XO)

Only fellow psychiatrists.. but they’re more concerned about trying to figure me out and vice versa. A word to the wise, Commander– never put two telepathic psychiatrists in the same room.” Amusement glittered in her grey eyes, as she let the comment fade away, focussing on Jade. “How can I make this easier for you, Commander?” She asked, truthfully.

Jade sighed “Lets treat this just like a conversation an not an Eval. Just two fellow officer having a chat, in an informal setting. That would help.” she said truthfully. Jade was one of those people who didn’t like evals not because she thought they where pointless, but because she felt that it was a waste of the counselors time. Time they could be spending on someone who truly needed help. To jade it felt like she was taking the time away form someone in desperate need. She didn’t like that, she had spent her career caring for those in need and knew how important just having an extra five minutes was,to those in need.

Cmdr Jones (XO)

<BUMP>

What a splendid idea!” Lissan seamlessly agreed. Even as a counselor, Zenobia did not always understand the significance of the psych evaluation. Of course, it was a way to determine the mental state of an officer and whether or not they were equipped for work. Although, she found there were much better ways to determine an officer’s status rather than sitting them in a room, usually against their will, to question them about their history, aspirations and regrets from the past. “So, tell me.” Lissan leaned back in her chair, clasping her hands over her stomach. “What’s up?

Dr. Lissan

Jade sighed “Not much really. Just the usual things. I guess the biggest issue is that I’m finding it hard to be an XO. I’ve been a doctor most of my career and I’m so used to it, that i forget I’m the XO. for the first week i kept heading for sickbay and not the bridge. It’s so hard to move on form one thing to another” Jade said. it was clear she was really struggling with her new position.

Cmdr Jones (XO)

<BUMP>

And that’s okay,” Lissan assured. “It’s hard shifting from one path to another, especially when they’re so different from each other.” She could see the struggle, which left her to wonder how she could help. “Has it grown easier for you since you began? Or is it still just as difficult as when you started?

Dr. Lissan
CNS

“Slowly. I’ve gotten better. But then we have an emergency and the Captain asks me to go to sickbay and get a report. Once in there i forget my place and rush to help whoever needs it. Often forgetting to ask the CMO’s permission. Next thing i know i realize this isn’t my job and I’m in the medical staffs way. I swear they hate me, always barging in.” she said resting her head in her hands .

Cmdr Jones (XO)

I’m sure they don’t mind too much. Adjustment takes time, some longer than others. Perhaps you could work something out with the CMO? See if you could spent a bit of time each week with the medical officers. That way you can continue helping out with what you love, while still adjusting to your newer role of being in Command of a.. much larger personnel base.

Jade shook her head “Impossible i have to mush work to do as the XO. I can’t just work in sickbay i have so many other duties to attend to. I have to spend all my on duty time doing the jobs my position dictates. The when i’m off duty the last thing i want to do is more work.” She said truthfully.

Cmdr Jones (XO)

Lissan glanced skeptically across the desk, but chose not to argue. Leaning back in resignation, she clasped her hands over her stomach. “What do you do for fun, Jones?” She asked, her voice dropping to a monotonous drumm.
