After a short break, which included refilling her mug with scalding black coffee and catching up on the next chapter of: “Death on the Nile,” Lissan figured it was time to give Agatha Christie a break and focus back on the purpose of the day. Scanning over the list, Grey’s name popped up next. It seemed like he would be her next victim for poking and proding the mind.

=^=Lissan to Grey, care to spare a few minutes to get a psych evaluation out of the way?=^=

Dr. Lissan
CNS

OOC: Fixing post, go confused by ship and Character.
IC
=^=Acknowledged.=^= A curt tone came over the comm. About ten minutes later the door to the counselor’s office chimed.

Dr. Grey - CMO

OOC: No problem!
IC:

Come in!” A mechanical voice responded from within the office. Lissan had been briefly reviewing the Doctor’s file, although she didn’t read too far into it. After all, a file was just the data, it didn’t exactly speak for the person.

Jack entered the room immediately. stopping a few steps in to look around “Lieutenant Zenobia?” He asked courteously “I’m Doctor Grey”

Dr. Grey - CMO

Pleasure to meet you, Doctor.” Lissan rose to her feet, offering a hand across the desk in greeting. “Thank you for meeting me today. Are you doing well?

Dr. Lissan
CNS

Jack took the offered hand and shook it, firmly but not hard “Yes I am, thank you” He smiled his courteous smile as he let her hand go. He took a step back, giving her telepathic transmitter a curious look “I understand that you utilize a form of telepathy to communicate through in an auditory manner but I’m curious, how do you ‘hear’ what I say” His eyes narrowed “As I understand it telepathy is not the greatest way to mass communicate, especially with non-telepaths.” He put his hands up and made a series of smooth movements. Andorian sign language “<I was="" not="" certain="" if="" this="" would="" necessary="" be.="" Did="" the="" learn="" fast,="" need="" work="">” His grasp of the basic alphabet seemed good but his wording was rough. However, it was clear from his mastery of the words themselves that he did speak Andorian, at least partially.

CSO

The transmitter also works as an amplifier, so that I can sense your speech centers greater than I can general thought. That way, I have a better understanding of what you’re saying over what you’re thinking. Unfortunately, it is still a work-in-progress, and there are bound to be mistakes. For which, I apologise in advance.” A small frown tainted her features, her sincerity in her apology evident. Raising her eyebrows, her antennae perking in interest, Zenobia was impressed to find the doctor could speak AnSL. “<It is="" not="" necessary,="" unless="" the="" transmitter="" breaks.="" Despite="" learning="" fast,="" you're="" quite="" good.="">” She paused, “<You speak="" Andorii?="">“

Dr. Lissan
CNS

Jack smiled at her question. He sat down then raised his hands to respond “<Yes, speak="" it="" weller.="" I="" like="" to="" learn="" new="" language,="" helps="" focus="">” He frowned slightly, clearly annoyed at his spelling “<Sign Language="" is="" just="" next="" logical="" step="">” He seemed more pleased with himself but not entirely “<Language is="" like="" math="" and="" history.="">“

CSO

Lissan watched as his confidence in himself seem to grow with the longer her spoke. “<It's like="" an="" equation.="">” She agreed, “<Put two="" unique="" pieces="" of="" different="" words="" together,="" and="" you've="" formed="" a="" new="" one!="">” She chuckled, “<It gets="" complicated="" with="" sign="" language,="" though.="">” She kept her words fairly simple, for both of their sake. “<Do speak="" anything="" else?="" Aside="" English.="">” Even she made mistakes here and there.

Dr. Lissan
CNS

Jack leaned back to consider “<I speak="" fluently="" about="" twelve="" Federation="" languages,="" six="" Earth,="" six="" non-Terran"=""> He paused once more to figure out the correct spelling “<Vulcan Basic,="" Andorian,="" Tellarite,="" Betazed,="" Basic="" Catioan="" and="" Gra...="" graz..="">” He finally gave up and said aloud “Grazerian, I met President Inyo when I was nine and I was so nervous that I learned the language before the meeting” He paused then raised his hand “<Turned out="" to="" be="" unnecessary.="">“

CSO

He must have been flattered to hear a boy speaking his native language.” She grinned, “<Did you="" set="" out="" to="" learn="" these="" languages="" in="" hopes="" they="" might="" help="" in="" the="" Sickbay?="" Or="" were="" they="" more="" of="" situational,="" like="" President="" Inyo--="" or="" just="" for="" fun?="">” Twelve languages, she was duly impressed by the range of linguistic aptitude the man had. Surely, he had a ready and able mind.

Jack finally sat down, his smile continued “I did not begin as Doctor. I first was Science man” He paused then said aloud “Xenobiology and Quantum Physics” He then continued his signing “My plan was, learn Starfleet, retire fleet become Doctor. Plans not go as… planned” He gave a slightly awkward grimace at his wording “I am what Earthlings call Genius, high IQ, learning is easy for me. Social cues were difficult. Before Starfleet. I learn languages because I get bored easy.”

CSO

Bump 2.4.

That is an effective way of satiating boredom.” She paused, “<Of all="" the="" languages="" you="" have="" learned,="" which="" is="" your="" favourite?="">” Zenobia hid a flicker of amusement behind a trained smile. She was not surprised to hear Grey had been a scientist before the world of medicine came crashing over him. Although, with great intellect came poor communication skills. Luckily, he seemed fairly competent. “<Do you="" have="" any="" friends="" here?="">” She asked, aware of the difficulties in finding companionship when social cues were hard to grasp.

Dr. Lissan
CNS

I think Vulcan, Language is very logical and surprisingly entertaining Jack then smiled at her question, he had in fact been anticipating the question ” While it is true that high IQ often correlates to low EQ in my case such is not entirely true. I do make friends, albeit slowly. To answer your question no I do not have any friends here but I have not been here long enough to get to know anyone” THis particular signing took him a long time, mostly due to his carefull wording.

CSO

Have your hands grown tired yet?” Lissan hindered a chuckle before it erupted from her throat. She knew a person could only sign for so long until the muscles in their fingers grew tired by the exertion. “Which is perfectly all right.” Lissan switched back to their conversation, “<Are you="" lonely?="">” She asked. She was, in no way, trying to offend Grey, nor was she making assumptions. She simply wanted to ensure he was stable and as happy as possible.

Dr. Lissan
CNS

Jack shook his head at being tired as he considered the question *”No not really, I mean in general I do not feel loneliness, I am quite comfortable being on my own but I do not dislike having company. I like my work and I stay in regular contact with my family, that is enough until I do actually make friends”

Dr. Grey - CMO

“<Any siblings?="">” She asked, “Or anyone in the family who can get away with nagging you like one?” His answers were steady, a certain confidence behind them. Lissan was growing convinced that Grey was perfectly capable of handling himself. Although obligated to the physical well being of others, Zenobia knew of the next Physicians had for themselves. Grey, however, didn’t raise concern.

Dr. Lissan
CNS

Jack smiled at her question “No siblings but I grew up very close with my two cousins Timor and Benjamin, they’re both Starfleet Officers, Timor is a Security Officer on the Scandinavia and Ben is CMO on the Athena” He spelled the positions awkwardly, positions were more difficult than names for him “I have not met Tim for a few years but I met Benjamin Just before his reassingment to Athena, we try to stay in regular contact. The three of us try to meet up on Earth when we can, Timor however has been pushing us to meet on the Oed Colony, his father works there and apparatnly has a quite pleasant house.”

Dr. Grey - CMO

From what I’ve heard, Oed is the place to be for a unique time. I’ve only been once, but their housing districts have architecture you could gawk at for hours. Depending on his father’s position, you could be looking at a state-of-the-art Villa.” Zenobia recalled her travels to Oed, where she’d met with a relative of her own. That experience, on its own, had been among the wackiest she’d had. “Perhaps you should schedule with them. We’re bound to have a shoreleave sooner or later. Plus, I’m sure you could use some time with family.” She winked, playfully.
