“One hundred and nineteen. One hundred and twenty,” Jessie said grunting as the sweat dripped from her braids and down her forehead into her eyes. Pushing herself back into a standing position, she rubbed her moistened hands onto her trousers. A nurse stood directly in front of the crewman, arms folded across his chest, frowning and tapping his foot impatiently.

“This isn’t the gym Crewman. And doing push ups is not required before a medical exam. Will you please go inside or move out of the way. You are blocking the door,” the nurse said not hiding the irritation in his voice as he pointed at the door to the medical department behind Jessie. As he tapped his foot faster, Jessie shrugged and moved inside the medical bay. Scanning the room, the found the closest biobed and headed towards it. Stopping at the foot of the bed, Jessie spread her feet apart and began jumping up and down, clapping her hands over her head and spreading her feet in opposite directions from the motions of her arms. The nurse rolled his eyes as he passed the bed and drew a curtain around the Klingon.

“Doctor, we have another check in for you,” the nurse called as he headed towards the back of the medical department. Under his breath he added, “think she should have gone to the counsellor.”

The Doctor laughed at the nurse, “This is why you are medical and not a Counselor because ‘THAT’” she gestures toward the crewman, “is light work for a Klingon. Be glad she didn’t decide to greet you with a challenge and a headbutt.” The doctor approached the Klingon crewman and gestured to the biobed. “I’ve got to do some simple scans to start off with, think you can do some flutter kicking for a moment so you are more still for the scan?”

  • Doctor Fey Kastil

“Sure!” Jessie said as she laid prone onto the biobed. Holding her legs up and her arms straight out in front, she began kicking her legs and moving her arms up and down. Exercise was almost as important to the young quarter Klingon as mating. Well, that was exercise too, and maybe even more enjoyable. After about five minutes of thrashing around on the biobed, Jessie stopped, hopped off the bed and readjusted her ever creeping coveralls back into a better fitted position. Finally the young woman sat back onto the bed and appeared ready for her medical exam. The records and scans would show she was in excellent health with all the double amounts of organs functioning correctly and in appropriate places. “Petty Officer Jessie Polizzi reporting for medical evaluation as ordered, sir!”

Crewman Polizzi, Science

“At ease Petty Officer, I am Doctor Fey Kastil, I will be conducting your exam. I’m glad that unlike most of the crew, I have your medical files already. That will make the whole process easier.” The Doctor used her tricorder to do the basic scan to make sure everything was in place still and that Polizzi didn’t have anything unusual going on. “Excellent specimen indeed, I may need to call on you later to help with experimentation but only if you’re willing to volunteer for it. I don’t work with unwilling subjects, I’ll of course give you full explanations as to what it is you are testing so you can make an informed decision. In fact, one of those tests will be really quite harmless, I just need a sample of your healthy genetic structure. May I take a sample?”

  • Doctor Fey Kastil

“Why are you going to clone me or something?” Jessie raised her upper lip in a half snarl and creased her heavy brows together. Actually, having another one of herself wasn’t half a bad idea. The Klingon relaxed a bit and the bent over with a deep laugh, and raised back up and titled her head back still laughing. Yes two Jessie’s would be ideal. She could make the other Jessie clean out the tribble cages. “Go ahead, take your sample. I am an excellent genetic sample. You are correct. What kind of experiments do you want to do to me. Will it involve how much pain I can endure or my physical or prowess? I can assure you with the appropriate female my skills and endurance are excellent. “

Doctor Fey laughed with the Crewman and shook her head, “As much as I would love to clone about fifteen of you, I don’t think the Captain would overlook that. No, I plan to join your genetic sample with a quantum paired substrate. This way if something happens that alters your pristine genetics I can theoretically use the paired chemical to correct the irregularity and return it to the state it is in now. If this works, then I can really go above and beyond the limits of normal experimentation because I can always return you to the original state.” The sample was easy enough and painless to retrieve so the Doctor could add it to her next experiment. “With that all done and your scan complete, I hereby authorize you for duty. Is there anything else I can assist you with before you return to your training?”

“That’s actually not a bad idea. Transporters always making me a little nervous and sick to my stomach. My biggest fear about them is being melded together with a Vulcan. Could you imagine? Passion of a Klingon with a Vulcan who is scared to raise their voice. Think it might be an instant explosion,” Jessie said as she hoped off the bed and began doing jumping jacks. The science officer really did have far too much energy constantly needing to be burned off. After fifty quick jumps and flailing about her arms and hands, she smiled at the doctor. “Thanks Doc! I am studying to get a PhD and some of my studies have a crossover with genetics. I need to come up with a topic for research but feeling a bit stumped. It needs to involve some ecology and evolution too. Really hoping to make it tie in with our missions and anomaly studies. Any suggestions?”
