OOC: for Command staff

The voyage to Starbase 237 would take a week from Leviathan’s present position. Having just rendezvoused with a transport vessel and taken on two items of cargo. The first piece being the ruins, which were securely stashed away in Cargo Bay 1, and the second item being a blue orb, which had been taken to a containment cell, where the engineering and security department were currently at work making sure it was properly secured.

All systems reported normal on the Bridge, and by all accounts, it was completely normal shift. The long range sensor would begin to alert whoever was at the con that there was a vessel just at the end of sensor range, and Leviathan was headed right for it.

NE McReady was at the conn. Casela was sitting in her chair going over reports from her staff while she met her obligatory bridge time for the day. Fenrir was somewhere on deck 13 getting upgrades.

“Lt. Synthi-er, there is a ship on long range sensors right in our path,” McReady told her. She rolled her eyes to herself. She wasn’t in charge…really she just needed to take the bridge officer’s test. It would easer. =^=Cpt Cobb and Cmdr. Raauhl to the bridge. There is a ship on long range sensors right in our flight path.=^= She looked at McReady and nodded. That wasn’t that hard. “Now McReady what do sensors say about the type of ship it is, weapons capabilities, damages. Any hails coming in? Let’s get all the information we can while we wait for the Cpt and Cmdr to arrive.”
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

As was common on an uneventful afternoon such as this one, the captain had been in his ready room, compiling his monthly incident reports for ARU command. But at the sound of the hail, he buttoned up his uniform tunic, smoothed down his unruly hair and then stepped onto the bridge.

“What’s all this about a ship?” he asked the gathered crew. “Can we detect the registry or type?”

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Having spent the last few days submerged in paperwork and post mission debriefs Ryder was relieved when Casela’s voice broke the silence in his room informing him of what seemed a pretty routine problem. That being said he stood up and made his way hastily to the the command center, anything to get out of post-op reviews was worth paying particular attention too.

Rauuhk arrived just as Cobb did and heard him ask his question so he acknowledged the unduty crew whilst he waited for the answer.

The vessel was a Mjolnir class, registry number 90407. It was simply drifting toward Leviathan as it continued to it.

Casela looked at the readings that McReady gave off the sensors and looked at Cobb and Raauhl as they entered the bridge. Totally deadpan and as if they were discussing the weather, “Apparently we are looking at ourselves.” Hadn’t something like this happened before on another ship? Something about a temporal distortion. “Isn’t that glowing blue thing we have on board some kind of temporal anomaly? Maybe we should see if they have managed to contain it securely yet?”
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS (sticks her 2 cents in wanted or not)

Ryder nodded and said “Have team double check the containment levels, are we close enough to bring it up on the view screen yet? It could be just a sensory glitch” He hoped it was just a sensory glitch. Ryder had made it to the center of the room now, where he watched both the crew at work and the holographic disolay in the center.

=^=CIC to Manhattan. Do you have that blue orb contained yet? The Captain and Commander would like an update.=^=

“April Fool’s day was many moons ago now, Lt Synthi-er,” the captain grunted, sliding into his chair and quickly activating his own information readout. “This has to be some mistake. A spatial distortion affecting their warp signature, maybe? Information becoming scrambled in subspace? I mean, that ship can not be us. We are us. And we are here!”

She raised a single brow, again and in a perfect parody of her half Vulcan mentor, “Do I look like I would engage in such illogical foolishness?”

He got to his feet and approached the viewscreen, leaning in to better see the tiny pinprick of vessel against the vast canvas of space. The nausea came without warning, that loathsome, psychic herald of unavoidable and approaching trouble.
“I don’t like this,” he murmured as a trembling hand was dragged through starlit hair.

But the anxiety was quickly buried - present still, but forcibly diminished. He was the captain of this vessel and he needed to take charge.
“Bring us into communication range,” he ordered the helm. Then with a glance towards the Counselor, he added, “then hail them.”

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Casela nodded and moved over to the communications console. As soon as they were within range, she sent a general hail, all frequences and languages.
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

Raauhl watched the bridge for a moment’s longer before mirroring the captain’s movements until he was side by side with him, in a low voice he said: “What are you thinking?” There were a number of plausible explanations for this phenomenon however the Leviathan didn’t operate with the plausible. Cobbs own feelings brushed over Raauhl and he to felt a sense of anxiousness.
