The display of space shifted, and a the image of the Leviathan bridge filled the viewscreen. Cobb saw himself, dead, in the chair, Ryder could make out his body on the floor, a massive cavity in his chest, and Synthi-er could see her limp and deflated body. The rest of the crew laid about bloodied and motionless. The image permeated the screen for about three minutes and then ended.

The view before her on the screen was horrific. She’d seen masacures before, up close and personal, but this, this was the Leviathan crew. Her face paled slightly as she watched.

“Lt Synthi-er,” Cobb murmured, his voice thin and wavering. “Scan for lifesigns.”

Casela nodded and began the scan. She also ran a diagnostic on the sensors to make sure they weren’t being tricked. She waited, hoping to find some sign that the whole crew was not dead.

This had to be an illusion. A trick. Was it remnant energy from the Sandman still throwing them into waking nightmares? Had the Andromeda’s Tomb artifact broken free from its newly-erected containment?
Moving back to his seat, Zachariah quickly contacted the containment shift leader.
=^=This is the captain. I want an immediate update on our newest anomaly. I also want all currently housed anomalies checking and re-checking and I want someone to do a full sweep of both Nakuto and McHarrie’s laboratories. You find anything at all that might be causing hallucinatory effects on this ship then you are to report it to me immediately via a secure channel. Understand?=^=

The contact terminated, he returned his attention to the gathered officers, each one appearing as uneasy as he himself felt.

Casela sent a note to her staff, waking the off duty officers up as well informing them of what had occured and to keep it quiet. No need to panic the whole crew, yet. She also ordered them to speak with Doc Fey about the possibility of needing sedatives on hand incase anyone had trouble sleeping, or had a mental break down of some kind.

“Crew,” his tone remained muted, cautious, as if the words themselves walked a precipice of control. “I understand how difficult that was for some of us to see. Right now we are unable to determine whether it is real or merely a trick. I ask you to put the wider implications of it from your mind and continue to perform your duties to the best of your abilities. Lt Synthi-er’s counselling team will be on hand for emergency appointments for as long as that might be needed.” A quick nod to Casela to confirm the order, although Cobb knew she had probably already requested it herself.

Then finally, turning to his First Officer, Zachariah beckoned him over to where he and Casela currently sat.
“I am open to every suggestion at this point,” he informed the pair. “Although sending an away team over will, for now, remain at the very bottom of the list.”

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

“Captain, I would suggest having Cpt Manhattan use his access to link with the containment decks there to ensure any anomalies are still contained. I would recommend Lt Cmdr GLaDOS, Lt Cmdr McHarrie, and Nakuto be ordered to do the same.” Casela was not going to suggest an RTF team go. And if they did she was NOT going. Nope. not. this. time. When the screen finally went blank, she was thankful. She looked at Cobb and at Raauhl to determine their mind state. It was disturbing, and she didn’t like it either, but were they okay enough to continue to be in the CIC. That was her first concern.
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

So unnerved had Cobb been by the sight of his own, lifeless body, that the containment units on the ‘other’ Leviathan had not even crossed his mind. But now, with Casela’s prompting, they did and with a force that turned his face white beneath the dark beard.
“My god, you’re right,” he whispered. “The anomalies!”

Leaping once more from his seat, Zachariah hurried to the centre console and sat down at one of the terminals, his hands scurrying with urgency across the controls as he punched in his command codes and attempted to interface with the other ship’s central computer.

A scan of the other vessel showed there was a single, solitary lifesign moving about its decks. It appeared to be heading toward the bridge.

Casela ordered the computer to run a detailed bioscan of the life sign coming from the other Leviathan. If it was a member of the crew, the computer would recognize the signature and identify.

Have digested the image and the reactions of those around him Ryder was unsure of himself until finally, his inner thoughts came out, “As much as I don’t want to but I recommend sending an away team directly to the bridge fully suited with a portable forcefield emitter. If we act quickly we could ambush the life sign on the bridge.” He turned to Casela as if to silently say get read. “I will lead the away team with Lt Synthi-er, Capt Manhattan and two other RTF officers, maybe an engineer. We should have security on high alert and go to red alert.”

  • Lt Cmdr Raauhl, XO

“Now, let’s not be too hasty here, Commander,” Cobb sputtered, surprised and somewhat alarmed at his XO’s eagerness to board the other vessel. “Do you not recall anything from temporal philosophy at the academy? How easily the balance of the universe can be destroyed if we put a single, inter-dimensional foot wrong?”
He shot a glance at the Counselor in an attempt to read whether he should be concerned at Raauhl’s current disposition.

“Prepare a team, Commander,” he finally conceded. “But you are not to leave until you get explicit orders to do so from me and me alone. Understand?”

Casela raised a silent brow in question. Really? He really wanted to take an away team over there? The last time they sent an away team without knowing what they were dealing with, they lost 3 officers. And like some twisted joke of fate, he’d ordered her to go. They needed more information, and she was good at that. “I would suggest, first, that we don’t know the life sign in hostile. Probable, but we don’t know for sure. I’m waiting for the computer to give me the person’s identity. Second, as far as we can tell this IS the Leviathan. Captain you could use your access codes to remotely control the ship and just as easily erect a force field around the person, or order the ship to drop shields and we can beam that person directly to the brig.”

“Additionally if you can do that captain, you can get us all the information we need. Status of the containment decks, life support systems, engineering, any ship’s system.”

“I am…trying to connect to them now…” the captain continued to pound at the terminal controls…

She pulls up the current duty roster, “For RTF I would suggest Lihew, he’s an excellent engineer, and Niven, she’s a brilliant scientist, and they are top notch RTF agents. Plus they aren’t occupied with dealing with our current problems on the containment deck and cargo bay. I’m sure Cpt Manhattan may have a better suggestion though. Should we summon him up here so he knows what is going on?” She was totally AGAINST going, but she had this horrible feeling in the pit of her stomach that they were going to have to go anyway.
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

“Aye,” Zachariah nodded, still facing the terminal screen, “Summon Manhattan. Oh and, Surda too. By now she should know the containment protocols better than most on this ship. Let us just hope that the other Leviathan has a similar configuration and set-up.”

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

“You know you don’t have time for this right? You’ve got less than six hours” William Hampton said, sitting in Captains chair. He was smirking. “You keep running around in circles you will never have a chance against that creature.” He chuckled. “But incompetence was always a hallmark of this crew.” He held up one of the Captain’s bottles of scotch, and took a sip from it. “I can’t say I’m surprised to see you are all quaking in your boots, disturbing stuff what I did over there, I’ll admit, but its not as if you all don’t deserve it.” He smirked and bounced out of the chair. “I could kill all of you right now with a thought, but that wouldn’t be fun, and I would be depriving your Hampton the same pleasure I have felt.”

Mr. Hampton

Ryder turned to see Hampton as he took a sip from a bottle, “Lieutenant Hampton” He growled somewhat but could sense something wasn’t quite right with the picture infront of him. He tapped his comm badge “Security to the bridge” he stood armed crossed, for some reason he had no doubt that whatever wss happening was about to get out of of control very quickly.
