As Mr. Logan starts on board and goes to the captain’s ready room. He then chimes the chime and waits for an answer.

Ensign Hawkeye Logan

At the precise moment that Logan activated the captain’s doorchime, it was ten-thirty five in the morning. Casela had been and gone for their daily breakfast meeting (well stocked by the wonderful Quinn with a huge platter of bacon, eggs, sausage and pancakes), Cobb had polished off his third Irish coffee and had just found a comfortable spot on the long window seat to stretch out and perhaps catch forty winks.

The doorchime quickly saw off that idea. From outside the door, were Hawkeye listening closely then he might hear a roar, followed by a mutter of, “Who the bloody hell is this at such a time, eh?” But as the door swung open, he would find his new captain already on his feet and hastily straightening his tunic, silver hair and beard smoothed reasonably back into place.
“Ah, erm…” Cobb peered into the young man’s face as the spark of recognition failed to ignite. Then, his eyes falling to the single collar pip, he added, “What can I do for you, Ensign?”

Cobb eyed the ensign curiously for a moment, then with a shrug replied, “Door’s open, isn’t it? Make yourself at home.”

Before him, the captain’s desk lay buried beneath a pile of breakfast plates, most now empty but a few bearing the odd leftover sausage, strip of bacon or a solitary pancake. With a nod, Zachariah gestured towards the food. “You hungry, lad? Help yourself if you haven’t eaten yet. My yeoman makes the best full English known to man, let me tell you.”

Still aching from his own feast, Cobb refilled his coffee and settled into his chair, then extended a leg and kicked out a vacant seat on the other side of the desk for his guest to sit down. While he waited for Logan to load up with breakfast if he chose to, the captain turned his attention to the PADD and began to read, before placing the thing to one side and fixing Hawkeye with an inquisitive glare.

“Your transfer notes are all in order. Your service record is fine. Standard stuff, really. But since I’m assuming you’ve been briefed already by ARU command then you’ll know the Leviathan is anything but standard.”
Reclining back into his seat, Cobb steepled fingers under his chin as he considered how best to proceed, before allowing a mischievous smile to spread across his lips.

“Hawkeye,” he mused, “that’s an interesting name. What’s the story behind it, eh?”

As he walks in and grabs some food and then he sits down. “Well sir sir the whole story behind the name Hawkeye is I know that a lot of things and that you’ll never know. I’ve always been like that. My parents named me after my mothers father. Her fathers name was Hawkeye Pierce. He works at starfleet medical and ever since then I’ve always growing with that name so that’s why I was named Hawkeye.” Said Hawkeye.

It pleased the captain to see another with an appetite as hearty as his own and, for several moments, he remained quiet and allowed the lad to enjoy his food. But eventually, the questioning continued.
“So, being Starfleet runs in your family then, eh? Mine too,” he nodded without further elaboration. “I like the name. It suits you.”

Cobb got to his feet and began to stretch his legs a little, although never straying too far from his desk and the easy reach of coffee.
“Why the Anomaly Recovery Unit?” he asked suddenly. “This is a singular, highly specialised and incredibly dangerous unit. And in my experience officers only come to us by one of two ways - either by choice, having experienced an anomaly in the past, or,” he ceased his pacing and fixed Hawkeye with an inquisitive glare, “or they’re forced here, as punishment for some past sin or transgression. So which is it with you, eh, lad? Do you have an interest in our work with anomalies? Or was this your only alternative to some godsforsaken penal colony on some godsforsaken rock?”
