Surda smiled slightly. No Knock Knock, Who’s there? If Juliet had turned around she wouldn’t see much of a difference except a faint flicker of amusement when she made her joke. Reminds me of the good old days. She made the comment absently, but she remembered the things she had done for a moment, then pushed them away. That wasn’t the sort of thing she’d show anyone really.

Juliet smiled despite the DH not seeing it. No, no knock knock joke. Though you aren’t the first to think that. Odd how some people perceive telepathy. By the way, you’re a natural. And if you ever want or need to discuss anything. I’m here for you as well.

Surda rolled her eyes. More like I have enough practice to seem natural.

She’d felt he extra walls as the ‘good old days’ comment had been made and ignored them. Well perhaps we can make newer memories and have these as good days as well.

Juliet had only paused a moment in one corridor intersection before continuing on towards Security once more.

Surda walked behind Juliet, trusting her to know where they were going. It’s more comfortable like this. Speaking standard is so incredibly clunky. Her handler had been a Lt. Neeina, and he had been horribly awkward in her head.
-Surda, CoS

I agree, Juliet said. As they rounded the last corner, she smiled. Speaking out loud once more. “I believe I passed this time.” She smiled and turned to pause a moment, leaning on the way still two corridor turns from security. “What exactly is it this ship does? I mean, I know we chase and contain, or dispose of, anomalies. But I sense there is more. I’ve mentioned the containment deck a couple times in passing and I get a cold shoulder like I shouldn’t be mentioning it. What’s there that I’m either supposed to ignore, not ask about or not know about? If I am going to be in security and RTF then I need to know. Or is it something the RTF head can tell me and I should go see him or her.” RTF hadn’t actually been on her check in list and she wondered if it was because she wasn’t going there if security didn’t clear her. Either way, now was the time to find out. If she hadn’t passed security then RTF was off the table and the conversation would be shut down here and now.

If she had passed, then she’d either be read in now, or the the RTF Chief. Either way, she wanted to know why everyone thought the containment place either didn’t exist, and shouldn’t be asked about, or a place people only went if they wanted to die. Because that’s how it was treated.

“It is…” She trailed off with a sigh. “Every ship has its superstitions, no? For most ships, there’s an unlucky pipe or a floor the turbolift never seems to stop at in a timely manner. Here, everyone avoids the containment deck unless they have to be there. I heard someone say there’s no point in tempting fate.” She shrugged lightly. “I certainly don’t spend much time there. You can find out more when you check in with RTF. There’s a briefing.”
-Surda, CoS

Juliet smiled and nodded. “I’ll be there. Do I need to seek him out before the briefing?” She turned and headed the rest of the way to Security.

Once there, she palmed open the door and stepped in and aside, to let Surda enter. “I’ll stay off the containment deck till I’ve been briefed and cleared. No worries. I’m not one to tempt fate either.” At least, not anymore, she finished privately in her own mind.
