OOC: I’ll leave the rules at the top of the thread in case anyone else wants to join. As provided by Surda/Leonora:

“Our first game has three parts. Number one, it is a teamwork game. Everyone has been placed with a partner, which you will find on that board.” Ant the wave of her hand, a board materialized. “However each partner team is also a part of either the red team or the blue team. You will have a small light that symbolizes which.” A pile of light-up pins appeared below the board. “Number two, it is a shooting game. There are no live rounds, and no weapons other than the guns I hand out are allowed. You can keep them on you, but don’t use them.” And now for her favorite part. “Number three, there is a point system. You do not have to last the longest to win. Lasting till the end gives you 200 points. Each successful shot is 30 points. Using an illicit weapon loses you 100 points, losing your partner loses you 50. Shooting someone on the same team as you loses you 60 points. There are bonuses, but I won’t tell you what they are. I will say some people are worth more points than others.”
The board was as follows: (As decided by a wheel)

  • Casela Synthi-er and Saler (Security NE)

  • Quinn Kindle and Juliet Anders (Neither are officially here, but I’m godfathering them in. They can take it up if they want.)

  • Surda and Zachariah Cobb

  • Irida Kovacenkov and Kit Larding (Also a security NE)

  • Luna and Jonathan Kirel (RTF NE)

-The Board of Doom™
Saler nodded. “Kit Larding. She is particularly excitable and probably won’t pose too much of a challenge. She has never excelled with guns.” He knew her fairly well and was often partnered with her for patrols. “I will leave the choice in your hands, but they likely will start moving soon.”
-Saler

She looked around and saw ladders leading up. She’d go up, it would give her a better view, but she knew from their little bar rumble, Surda would always go up, so she stayed on the floor and melted into the shadows in the room moving her way around and behind the other pair.
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

Irida looked at Kit, “We’ve got the wall to our backs, we’ll sweep forward, and won’t have to worry because we’ve already seen what’s behind us.” To Kit she would sound a little too sure of herself. Irida, was a little trigger happy, but after Dave had broke out she’d learned to wait to fire but still she turned suddenly at every perceived movement in the shadows of the room or flicker behind a blind.

Kit simply nodded, feeling a bit giddy at the chance to team up with such an impressive officer. She hadn’t made the cut for RFT, so the partnership was like a dream come true.
-Kit Larding

Luna settled into cover and watched quietly. She would wight for the fight to start. She never attacked first she looked over to her partner. ” let’s stay here and watch the fight start once there focused on each other its will be a little easier to get behind people.” Luna said. Her partner simply nodded.

Lacking the same measure of grace as his Orion partner, Cobb followed towards the closest ladder and then began to quickly make his way up, pausing briefly at the midway point when he feared his bad leg might give out on him. But he made it to the higher level without calamity and, were the gods feeling fortuitous, without drawing attention to himself or Surda.

The elevation provided him with a wonderful vantage point and, for a few moments Cobb lingered close to the edge as he studied the scene around him. All of the tactics on display were familiar to him, but the captain gathered a great sense of comfort and pride from witnessing the skilled and polished efficiency of his crew. At this stage of the game it was impossible to bet on a potential winner, but no matter the name, it would come as no surprise to Zachariah.

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Surda grinned and sat down on the elevated pathway. “We have to make sure not to shoot anyone on our own team.” There was an inherent obstacle for every pair, whether it was teamwork, a partner they had never worked with, or just not being well suited for the weaponry. “Other than that, let’s show off a little.” The room was near pitch black with the exception being little pinpricks of light from the buttons. There were tunnels on the ground level where people could hide from them, but they wouldn’t be able to stay for very long.
-Surda, CoS

Irida nodded to Kit. She was eager to find one of the higher ranking officers and get some points on the board. She was after Casela mostly. After Casela had snuck up on the entire team that first RTF training she’d been ready to pay the CNS back, and she’d done it every training session since. Irida thoughts she was good, but Casela being that good just irked her. “How do you feel about a standard 2 person sweep? That way cover each other’s backs. Remember we loose points if we loose our partner.” Irida looked around seeing shadows change and pointed, someone was moving around.
OOC: Are there just the 6 or other NEs too?
Opperative Kovacenkov, RTF
OOC: There are 18 pairs, 9 on each team. If you want to shoot some of your RTF NE’s I’ll show them and their partner’s name disappearing from the board, and you’ll get points for it.

Luna wanted to get into the air but in this kind of combat getting in the air could make her a big target and there was the no losing her partner part of the rules to contend with. She looked around from there hiding spot. ” hay look” she whispered to the ensign next to her there was a pair on the opposite team pined down by there team. ” let’s get them wail they are distracted.” Luna said they lined up the shots and fired at the pair befor moving further back into the cover of dark ness the moved slowly and quietly to the next avaliable space of cover.

Shifting into a sturdy, low crouch, Cobb peered over the edge and settled on a blue team member to try and pick off. Of course, a shot from the heavens ran the risk of also revealing his position to the other players. It would be vital that he fire only when his target was alone and, as much as possible, away from the other members of the team.

But if the Dominion War had taught Cobb anything then it was patience. Or maybe it was apathy…but they amounted to the same in the end. And so, he remained content to simply observe for almost a full ten minutes before finally spying his chance and, raising up on one knee, aligning his weapon and taking his shot…

OOC: Aiming for unidentified blue team member

Casela moved silently around the room. She saw Irida and Kit moving in a standard staggered sweep and nodded to Saler and pointed. It would be too hard to get them at the moment. She looked around and the dim light was bouncing off the feathers on Luna’s back but she was behind cover and no shot there. However there was an RTF NE directly in front of her, badge lit up blue not paying attention. She grinned at Saler again pointing and looked around for the NE’s security counter part. She’d let Saler take the RTF NE while she moved adjacent to the him and tried to spot the team mate.
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

Saler nodded and dropped closer to the floor, aiming straight at the NE’s back. He trained the gun on him carefully but waited for Casela’s signal.
-Saler, Sec NE

Surda nodded to Cobb and moved to the other side of the walkway and moved about ten feet down. She’d shoot when he did, and they could both pick off half of a team before they had to move.
-Surda, CoS

OOC: Did Cobb get a hit? Or are we deciding that for ourselves? He took aim at an unidentified blue team member.
OOC: If its an unnamed character you get to decide.

OOC: Okay then, I’ll throw Cobb an early bone, lol.

IC: It could not have been more perfect. All alone, separated from his partner by a thin, metal divider, the young man had turned at just the right moment to place his chest square in line with Cobb’s approaching shot. Bam! The man’s armour began to flash, his weapon sounding the telltale beep of a target marked out and destroyed.

“What the…” the man yelled, spinning around with his own weapon raised but unable to pinpoint the location of the shooter. Too late, at any rate, to begin the vain hunt for logic, as from the heavens came another, more powerful blow, the laser streaming into his target port and, with a digital shriek, deactivating his unit.

On their elevated perch, Zachariah turned to Surda and winked. “Good to see I’ve still got it, where it counts,” he commented, clearly very pleased with himself.

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Surda grinned at Cobb and nodded towards the board. Three teams were out completely, and two more were down to halves. After they had been eliminated, their value’s appeared next to their names. “It was an excellent shot, and he never even figured out where it was from. I think we can get a good group before they decide to gang up on us.”
-Surda, CoS

Casela snuck up behind her target, silently moving among that shadows, she wrapped one hand around the man and with the laser gun, placed right up against the man’s chest target, pulled her trigger. She released him and held a finger to her lips. “Shhh your dead now.” And then slipped away in the shadows of the room waiting for Saler to get his target and they moved on to the next team.
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

It was almost too easy. Up here, on the platform, Zachariah felt invincible. Untouchable. Below him, the games participants scurried like ants while he hovered over all of them like an almighty, crushing foot. It wasn’t right. This exercise had stirred something in him. A memory - of the excitement of battle, of the camaraderie found amongst ground soldiers, rushing into the fray on their own, aching feet.

With one final glance at Surda, Cobb winked and then made quickly for the ladder once more, climbing swiftly down and, in a breath, disappearing into the fray…

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Surda blinked in surprise but shrugged and followed Cobb with a grin. She hadn’t expected him to run right into the middle of it all.
-Surda, CoS

Luna grind as she saw the consuler sneeking up on people. ” we need to watch put for her” Luna said. She continued to scan the feald. Watching for an opening.
Ensign Luna

He had not expected the Security Chief to follow him, but produced a wide grin at the sight. Raising his own gun and nodding into the centre of the room, he called out over his shoulder “Let’s go cause some real damage, eh?” before slipping into the shadows that hugged the left wall…

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Casela and Saler continued to move around the room, they found a nice little blind to hid behind and take shots at those passing by. Saler was a much better shot than Casela so she was glad to let him aim for and take out the targets from farther away. Irida and Kit were moving past, and just to mess with her, Casela shot, close, but missed, making Irida dive for cover. After a few minutes, Casela motioned to Saler. She moved farter into the darkness and a corner, putting a wall to her back, to cover him while he continued to shoot, and she made sure to look up frequently to check above them as well in front and to all sides.
Lt. Synthi-er, RTF

Irida and Kit kept moving in a zig zag, alternating pattern around the room. She hunkered down next to Kit at the side of some obsticle in the room. She watched for a moment and nodded, whispering to Kit. “Watch at 2 and 3 o’clock. Give them a 5 count and they keep popping up.” She waited and counted to five, “see. If we wait we can get them both.” She settled, taking aim and waited. She had no idea who the two officers were only that they had red badges, and she and Kit had blue.
1..2..3..4..5 and the two figure popped up again and she and Kit fired.
Agent Kovacenkov, RTF

Surprising, how effectively such a large and usually powerful man could assume the mantle of silence when needed. For the past five minutes now, Cobb had been lingering in the shadows, his eyes trained on the enemy’s back. They had a solid strategy, of that there was no doubt. But while focusing on their own prey, they had seemingly forgotten to also watch for predators.
Catching Surda’s attention, Cobb nodded for her to take the individual on the left while he made a move for the one on the right. A second later and Irida would feel the nuzzle of a weapon pressing into her shoulder as Cobb’s breath tickled her ear.
“Nice shot,” he whispered. “Shame it will be your last.”

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Irida froze and a shiver of apprehension when down her spine. The cold touch of the muzzle of a ‘gun’ and the soft insidious whisper of her captain startling and scary. Who would have thought Cobb was so good at stealth? She cursed softly in Russian. Wasn’t Synthi-er always berating her for not paying attention to her WHOLE surroundings. She started to turn, forgetting what Casela had taught her, and instead of spinning out of the line of fire, she spun into it and got hit most spectacularly by her captain. Irida was a good sport and overly dramatic. She grabbed her side under her arm where she would have been shot. She gasped in fake agony, eyes going wide. “Be…trayed....by…by…by my…captain.....uhhhhhh.” and she collapsed to the floor ‘dead.’
