OOC: Foremost Fleet Report - December

Posted Jan. 11, 2021, 5:17 a.m. by Captain Zachariah Cobb (Commanding Officer) (Sharon Miller)

Hey crew,

December’s fleet report is ready for you to peruse on the command board here: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/command/command/posts/116056/

Highlights, spotlights and awards below and congratulations to everyone who earned a mention!

CO Thread of the Month:

As always, the writing this month has been amazing across the board, but two threads in particular have been wonderful to read:

The Leviathan’s newest crewmember, security officer Luna, was accompanied onboard by her rather precocious, and definitely mischievous, daughter, Cerenity (both played by Christina Crafford). On a forbidden nightly wander through the Levi’s dark corridors, the child was apprehended by our Orion security chief, Surda (played by Leonora V). What followed was a very sweet and wonderfully creative thread where the CoS attempted to occupy the little girl and teach her a few things about life in the ARU in the process:

Jennifer Ward has delivered some incredible writing and world-building, in the telling of her tale of the planet Delotha and the tragic orphans who live there. But particularly enjoyable this month was a thread co-written with Brian Richards and cross-posted on the Ark Angel, where Brian’s character, Tabris, gives some of the Delothan orphans a new forever home:

CO Spotlight:

Back in June 2020, when I first began working on the idea for the Leviathan, the first player I reached out to was J Ridgley. At the time I was on the Ark Angel with Jake and had been really impressed with his writing and his characterisations. At the time he was still relatively new to the club, but when he offered to be my X-Fleet XO I didn’t hesitate for a second. And since that moment he has delivered everything I could ever want in an XO and a hundred other things on top - in the initial weeks of the Levi’s existence he made huge contributions to our development of the ARU/RTF framework, created all of the graphics for the MOTD and recruited 75 percent of our initial X-Fleet crew. He was also the first player to step up and run an anomaly encounter, the success of which was instrumental in me deciding to stick with the self-simming model when we moved into the main fleets. And since then, he has remained a consistent and unifying presence on the ship, delivering some fantastic writing and roleplaying, particularly leading all of the Leviathan’s away missions to date. But for me, it is behind the scenes where Jake has truly been invaluable - he handles all of the AWOLS (that one job that all command players hate) and our OOC community (including our gaming events) have all been run by him. And then there are those special little touches, like his wonderful holiday message:

It is for all of these reasons and so many more that this month’s, and my year end, spotlight, goes to the incredible J Ridgley!
