“You’re aware she is telepathic then?” He asked avoiding her own question with one of his own, command school certainly taught him how to be political. “Are you telepathic?” The Trill XO added as the question popped into his head, he looked down to the young girl expectedly.

Gen nodded, ”I think so. I don’t know…i wasn’t before. Now I can do things.” she said

This gave Raauhl pause, “What other things can you do now and for how long have you been in this… Situation?” He didn’t want to offend the girl but he would be silly to pass the opportunity to learn about her and how she become to be.

The girl shrugged as if it didn’t matter much, ”I duno…I was on the Phantom. Then the darkness…now I’m here.” she said. ”If you like her you should tell her you know.” she added again as she walked beside him, sock clad feet just off of the ground and no more. She smiled the sort of crooked half smile at him.

Deciding to leave the topic of her origin he nodded slowly, “I know, but I just don’t know how she’ll take it. She’s more likely to react badly and explode than to react welltg to the confession. All my insticts and experiences tell me to tell her but something is stopping me” He let out a long restrained sigh.

Gen tilted her head and considered. “You could bring her something to distract her then just blurt it out.” She said ponderously.

Now there was an idea, “I suppose that could work. What do you suggest? I don’t know what shed like as a gift.” Casela wasn’t your A-Typical woman and would like prefer a new selection of weapons than a bunch of flowers, but even that then brought in the question whether she’d appreciate it or not.

Gen seemed to consider that. “I liked my socks when she brought me those.” She said thoughtfully looking down at the fluffy grey garments she wore on her feet. “But I don’t think she would like that…”

“No I don’t think so either,” Ryder said a little glumly as they fell into silence, both pondering.

Silence for a moment as the teen floated along ponderous expression and eyes serious. “How about some hook swords?” She asked finally.

“Hmm, that would be something she’d like that’s for sure but I don’t exactly condone unofficial weapons on the ship.” Casella was certainly a conundrum, he was beginning to realise just how little he actually knew about her. “Maybe I’ll suggest a date?”

Gen considered. “If you give her them then they’d be official because you are officially official right?” she asked. “You could give her the swords, just for decoration and then suggest a date. But don’t take her anywhere lame.” she pulled a face.

He chuckled at the girls face, “Well perhaps you might divulge me into what would be lame, just so I don’t make that mistake.” the Trill wondered for a minute if Gen was on Cas’ payroll asking him for her weapons was definitely a Casela move. “I was thinking about a picnic or something, out in the forest somewhere plenty of space to walk around and see the wonders.” He hadn’t realised just how much thought he’d put into it until then.

Considering the girl seemed to be making a list in her head. She raised an eyebrow then shook her head. “I dunno but make sure it’s something she likes because if it’s not she will be upset. And if she gets upset…” she frowned and let the implied threat hang for a moment.

Then all at once she was grinning. “You should take bundt cake!”
