Casela had left McHarrie and Raauhl in Beta Sickbay and headed down to the counseling deck. She had several things she needed to collect before heading to Valkyrja to head for Delotha. She entered her office and palming the lock for the weapons locker behind her desk she took out her backpack and began to pack it. She opened several other hidden panels around her office. In addition to her weapons which went into hidden pockets of the pack this time, never to be seen, was also a dead type one phaser, small trinkets and toys and sweets. A spare set of clothes went into the pack as well. She removed the comm for Fenrir after sending him orders to answer to Manhattan while she was gone and to keep Gen company as well.

She moved about in an efficient manner, used to the need to move quickly and decide with a glance what she needed and what she did not.

“Are you leaving?” A quiet voice asked from behind Casela.

Gen stood, in her leggings and oversized grey sweater and socks as always. She held a small squeaky ball in her left hand.

Gen

Finding Gen had been her next stop, and it didn’t surprise Casela in the least bit that Gen found her first. The girl had a knack for showing up where she needed to be. She turned leaving the pack on her desk for the moment and walking over to her. “I am. But it won’t be long. Just a few days, I hope. I got a letter from a friend. They need some help.” Casela smiles down at the squeaky ball. “Still getting Fenrir to play fetch properly?”

Gen didn’t seem interested in the ball. She was looking searchingly at the woman before her as if trying to see deeper than just the surface. The expression was intense. Then after a second or maybe 4 it relaxed and she squeaked the ball.

“You promise you’ll come back right?”

Gen

Casela took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “Yes I promise. I’ll be back. Hopefully in a few days, a week at most. I hope. But I will be back. Leviathan is going to get us as close to where I’m going as possible. Then I’ll take my shuttle the rest of the way. Cobb and Fenrir will both still be here.” How did she explain about the orphanage. That if she took Gen with her she’d have to stay. She couldn’t do that to the other children. Bring a child with her that got to leave with her when she left. They wouldn’t understand, it would crush them. She wouldn’t be able to explain it to them either, that Gen was…she loved them all, she did, but Gen was different. Cas…she wanted, well if Gen was willing, Casela would adopt her in a heart beat. “I’ll be back soon, I promise. I tell you what, someone has to keep an eye on Cobb for me. So why don’t you pop in on him once in awhile. Not on the CIC though, right?” She didn’t like leaving Gen, but she had to go see what was going on, on Delotha.

Gen nodded slowly then smiled slightly, that same half curl of her mouth. ”Ok. I promise I’ll keep an eye on the Captain till you come back.” she gave a sort of step forward then seemed to catch herself and stood instead turning the ball in her hands.

Gen

Casela smiled softly. She was totally wrapped around Gen’s little finger, and she knew it. “Hey, come here.” She wrapped Gen in a hug. “You know I’m going to miss you. But I’m not going alone. Raauhl, McHarrie, Remington, Bog, and Polizzi are all going with me. So I’ll be fine. And Fenrir, Cobb, and Manhattan will all be here with you. So you’ll be fine too.” There was an idea in the back of Casela’s mind, but she wasn’t sure how Gen would feel about a new family. She knew that Gen still missed her family a lot, and Casela would never want to replace them. Gen had a way of making her thoughts and wishes known, so Casela left it alone. She also wanted to talk to Ryder first too.

Gen still was slightly stiff when a hug initiated but softened quickly. She put a hand up in a small gesture of returning it. She seemed confused for a moment and looked at Casela questioningly. “Will you bring me something back?” She asked.

Gen

Casela grinned. There were several very talented craftsmen where she was going, and she was sure she could bring back a large bag of things that Gen would enjoy and even cherish. She nodded, “Yes I will. It will be a surprise, but I will find something very special for you. Is there anything specific you might want?” Casela had the means to pretty much get anything. Even another shuttle if she wanted it. Thanks to Karra turning their income around they didn’t need for much. And there was a private anonymous donor that provided more than enough for the children. So Karra and Casela had quite a bit stored away.

The question seemed to confuse Gen as her brows came together. “Want?” she asked but then shook her head. “No. Just come back.”

Gen

Casela would have to pick something to surprise her with, but she would bring something back. She gave Gen a firm squeeze. “I’m coming back. I promised, didn’t I?” She stepped back to get a good look at Gen. “You know, Gen, you’ve been with us awhile now. While I’m gone, I want you to think about what you want. If you want to stay here with m…with us, or if you want to something else.” Gen didn’t talk about what had happened much, and she was always so quietly contemplative. She always seemed…scared that something was going to happen. And Casela really couldn’t blame her after what happened to the Phantom. Casela could often hear and feel what was weighing on Gen’s mind, but she didn’t know how to voice what she wanted, and Casela was never one to pry like that, not with a child. Casela knew, deep down, what she, herself wanted, but she also knew it would stay a deeply kept dream of hers; a hold over from childhood. Not only was it a near impossibility given what she was, but Gen having gained some telepathic ability, Casela did not want to influence her thoughts or her feelings. “I’ll be back, a week tops. You keep them in line, okay?”

Gen nodded and looked at the ball. “I better go…i left Fenrir outside.“ she said somewhat cryptically and began to phase out through the floor, feet just dipping in as if it had suddenly become water. She gave a small wave as her hand disappeared leaving the floor as solid as ever and was gone.

Gen

Outside? Gen did you leave him floating out in space again? You better get him before we go to warp. Casela’s mental voice followed the girl as she phased through the floor. Laughter carrying with her thoughts.

She turned back to the bag she was packing and then, when done, she headed out of her office and toward the shuttle bay.
