At the tactical station, Cobb focussed on the various readouts in an attempt to still the nausea of panic threatening to swell within him. They were trapped. And they were dying. And there was not a damned thing that Zachariah Cobb could do to help them!!!

Or…perhaps that was not entirely true. The ship was still the Leviathan and he, Zachariah Cobb, was still its captain. Quickly he returned to his chair and activated his left-hand panel before punching in his command codes and transmitting an order to the other Leviathan.

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

In many stories, people often wonder what would happen in such an event as was unfolding at present, if the levels of panic, worry and negative emotions across both ships could take on a physical form. Apparently the answer was the form of a dark haired teenage girl, dressed in black leggings, an oversized grey jumper and socks who appeared as if from nowhere at Cobb’s side as he attempted to get help to those few that Gen had learned to trust and to hold close.

At the appearance of the Leviathan’s resident teenager, Cobb deflated visibly. It was his hope, always, to shield both Gen and Cerenity from the horrors of the Leviathan. So having the young girl appear on the bridge at such a desperate moment was just about the last thing he could have wished for.

To say the girl was angry would have been true but fall short of the mark. The energy coming from her was downright malevolent. She turned neon yellow glowing eyes onto Cobb and for once the innocence and warmth she held for the captain was gone, replaced instead with an icy glare.

“They are going to die.” The panels on the bridge hummed slightly as if they were vibrating.

The captain turned to face the girl, momentarily taken aback by the visible effect of anger on her usually sweet features. Her words, however, and the accusatory tone that carried them, caused Zachariah’s own defenses to rise.
“They are not going to die,” he snapped back while the panel at his right hand flashed a red warning message: =^=Command codes not accepted=^=

“You sent them there and they are going to die.” The vibration intensified.

Cobb closed his eyes. Drew in a long, desperate breath. He needed to think, to strategise, to weigh options with other officers. But neither the time for such debates nor the minds to participate were for the taking.
“Stop this!” he roared, his tone far more aggressive than he intended and yet the strength, in that moment, to mediate his response wholly depleted.

“Fix it. NOW!” Across the bridge the auxiliary engineering console exploded in an array of sparks.

Gen

“What the bloody hell do you think I am trying to do?!” he replied, locking eyes with the teenager and attempting to ignore the destruction of the CIC. “If you have any suggestions to make, lass, then I am open to hearing them because I am quickly running out of options of my own.”

Only now did he turn to the panel, a cloud of black smoke now rising from the ruined console. In another time, another situation, he might have been impressed by her ability.
“Maybe I should just send you over to deal with them,” he murmured to himself. Sarcasm, it seemed, was the only weapon he retained the strength to yield.

There was a sigh from behind Gen. It was Hampton, but this Hampton did not have the evil gleam in his eye or the grin on his face. His eyes had a new look, guilt. He simply shook his head. “I’m afraid the damage done by my evil counterpart cannot be fixed by Cobb.” He shrugged his shoulders with a frown. “I have a bit of temporal power left, but not close to the amount I’d to stop him.”

LT. Hampton

At the sight of the engineering chief, the captain rose to his feet.
“You have some nerve stepping onto my bridge,” he advanced on Hampton. “Hoping to save your counterpart a trip over and finish me off yourself?”

He paused. Turned and studied the almost empty bridge, its usual occupants either dying on the other Leviathan, or already murdered on this one. If this were to be the end, would any of this even matter? Would the captaincy of Zachariah Cobb become a footnote in history, or merely a joke too hilarious to forget?

“This is your bloody counterpart doing this, Will,” he sighed, collapsing back into his chair. “If anyone should be able to tell us how to stop him then it is you. So…what the hell should I do here, eh? Go over there myself? Believe me, if he would release the rest of the crew and take me instead then I will do it without another breath.”

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

The girl glared for all she was worth at poor Cobb then turned that gkare to Hampton. “Take me over. Bring a Doctor too. Cobb said I could go. You helped cause thus.” she growled slightly at Hampton “Now help fix it,”

Gen

Hampton opened his mouth to protest, but before he could say anything, external sensors began blaring, and the view screen would show a shuttlecraft departing from the other Leviathan.

The Klaxxon briefly quieted; and Durheim’s voice come over the comms - not quite as chipper as usual, though professional as always. =/\=Durheim to Bridge; two to sickbay, please. High priority. Please stand by for Ms. Surda and I.=/\=
-Durheim

=^= Aye…er…standing by =^= the captain offered a stunned reply to the unexpected hail. Then coming quickly to his senses, he fired off two rapid orders - the first one to Theodore Knox to have both alpha and beta sickbays prepped and standing by; the second to the current transporter chief to attempt a lock on the occupants of the incoming shuttle.

Then finally, Zachariah reopened the comms channel to the shuttle itself.
=^= What of the other crew, Mr Durheim? =^= he dared to ask. =^= Are you the only two that made it? =^=

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

=/\=Ah, I apologize Mr. Cobb; I was unclear. Ms. Synthi-er is in urgent need of medical care; and Mr. Raahul is currently in containment; possibly in need of care as well. Ms. Surda and I have not sustained significant injury, and the wayward Mr. Hampton is likely on the departing shuttle, though I cannot confirm. I will attempt to transport our casualties over shortly.=/\=
-Durheim

OOC: Wow, I completely read that post wrong, didn’t I! Sorry about that!

IC: Cobb exhaled a sigh of relief at the mention of both Ryder and Casela, although the tension quickly mounted again at Durheim’s suggestion of a transport.
=^= You need to find some way to drop those shields first, Mr Durheim =^= he replied quickly. =^= I would have transported all of you back over here in a heartbeat without them. =^=

Hampton looked over at the external sensor readings, “The other Leviathan’s shields are still up, you won’t be able to transport them through.” He looked over to Cobb. His eyes widened for a brief moment and his voice rose slightly “Cap-” He began, before he was cut off by the sound of laughter.

=^= Durheim didn’t make it to the shuttlecraft, but don’t worry Cobb, I did.=^= Hampton’s voice rang through the comms. =^= You quite literally have seconds to save your crew before the creature attacks. I hope you solved that puzzle before time is up.=^=

Another console exploded in the other corner as the feelings of sheer rage built again from the resident teen. And then with her fists balled so tightly the nailsmbit into the flesh of her hands she was gone through the floor without so much as a word. Not the normal exit and entrances she made but a fast shimmer that left the floor looking like a dropplet had fallen into it and caused a ripplemfor a few seconds before it solidified.

The shuttlecraft flew in the opposite direction of both Leviathan vessels. Sensors showed a buildup of power in the shuttle’s nacelles, indicating it was about to jump to warp. =^= I suppose this is good bye from me for now Captain, although I have a feeling our path’s will cross again.=^=

Mr. Hampton

Just as quickly as she had vanished Gen reappeared coming up through the floor dragging by the arm what appeared to be another person in teal. The normally carefully organised and neat Dr Knox coughed as if his chest had been squeezed on the way from what he had been doing, prepping the sick bay as ordered to where he was now.

“Captain?” he asked seeing Cobb and realising where he now was, seeming more like a man waiting for a bus than one who had just been for intents and purposes kidnapped by a rouge anomaly. A full medical pack was slung over his shoulder.

Gen however, wasn’t done. She didn’t fully let go of the Doctor instead she fixed her neon glowing eyes onto Cobb for a split second then turned to the version of Hampton that stood before them and said.

Take me across to the other ship. Now. Or I’ll break your neck.

Gen

Hampton stared back at Gen, he hated being threatened, and for a brief moment, the temptation to do what his predecessor had done entered his mind. His body glowed blue, with his fists glowing brightest of all. He shook his head, HE wasn’t evil, and he wasn’t a murderer, nor would he ever be. The fight that he and Gen could have would no doubt have been glorious, but it would not do anybody a lick of good, and more to the point, Hampton might lose it. All of those thoughts flew threw his mind for a moment, and then passed. All he did was scoff, “I’m not him, don’t threaten me.” And then in a moment, Knox, Gen and Hampton were not on the bridge.

Lt. Hampton

In the blink of an eye they were gone, Cobb left all alone in the CIC, the nearest terminal still raining sparks as a testament to Gen’s impressive anger.

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

The shuttle jumped into warp, and Cobb would watch it vanish in a flash. Seconds later, proximity alerts rang out on the bridge. A massive anomaly was forming between the two Leviathan vessels.
