“My sympathies, undergoing surgery is never a pleasant experience . My people have developed some pain relief techniques that may prove more effective than medications, please, if I may I would be happy to help in this regard?” Said Anaya, radiating both sympathy and concern.

Although, she thought, this will be of little use to the pain you feel inside my dear.

Casela raised a brow at that. “I had heard that before. I would be very interested in both the experience and learning.” Casela was aware of the sympathy and concern, and the contemplative look on Anaya’s face, if only briefly. She was skilled, but of course she wouldn’t be there if she wasn’t. Casela was not always the best counseling patient there was. She’d made the effort to be better over the years. Of course, allowing Anaya to ‘counsel’ her just a little bit, or maybe a lot, would give Casela hands on knowledge about Anaya’s skills and techniques and allow Casela to make sure those who could benefit from her expertise received it.

“Still,” she said, brightly “it is good to have something to look forward to afterwards, yes?” A mischievous spark showed deep within Anaya’s eye, her smile widening to a grin, her voice taking on a playful purr, almost resonating at a deep, primal level.

“So tell me Counsellor, what do YOU do for rest and relaxation hmm?”

Oh the allure of the woman. Deltan’s didn’t even know they were doing it most of the time. Casela’s training, and maybe the fact she was Betazoid and could sense peoples thoughts, emotions, their intentions, made it easier to over look. Poor Anaya was going to create havoc. Casela had a feeling Anaya’s schedule was going to be filled, and not for those needing counseling. “What do I do to rest and relax? Now-a-days, nothing. The occasional hour in the meditation room. My usual forms of relaxation make the command staff twitchy, and so I’m not allowed.” It made her laugh, most days. The argument was made that RTF training should be enough of a workout to let her relax. Teaching was not relaxing and that reminded her…She turned back to her desk once again, grabbed another PaDD, this time from the very far side of her desk and began working on it. She had to reassign training for the next two weeks. Niven could do a first aid refresher, Trainor some marksmanship instruction....she finished typing it up and then looked back at Anaya. “I apologize. Too many things to get organized before tomorrow morning. What about you, Anaya. What do you do for self-care?”
Lt Synthi-er, CNS

“I find a little time set aside for meditation and self exploration to be very beneficial. Before we can help and know others we must first help and know ourselves, yes?” She tilted her head slightly quizzically as she wondered exactly what forms of exercise could upset the command staff so.

“After all, do the humans not have an old proverb, ‘all work and no play makes jack a dull boy’ ?” Here Anaya lent back in her chair and crossed her long legs in front of her.

“You have a quick grasp of the situation. Hence the mandatory department down time. It is the nature of our work to be always be on call and to work even when others do not. I am truly grateful you were sent here, Anaya. With five of us on staff now, and your extensive experience we should be able to handle the stressed within our department as well as we help everyone else.” Casela was not the type to hold her patient’s hands and molly coddle them, but she did care for their mental and emotional well being. even if her other job seemed to point her in very different directions.

“I like to socialise and interact with others as much as possible, getting to know people on a personal level as well as professional one. It is important to open yourself up, to allow others inside yourself.” She unfolded her legs, running one hand gently down the arm of the chair.

“I also like to dance for both exercise and as a means of expression of ones inner self, it can be hugely satisfying, both by yourself or with another.” Here she smiled again, her grin somewhat impish.

“Or indeed as a group activity.”

Anaya - Asst Counsellor

“Perhaps you would could arrange an event for the crew around dancing. I know Lt. Surda is an experience knife dancer, and,” her voice dropped to a friendly whisper, old friends sharing secrets, “I’m an accomplished dancer, just don’t tell anyone. I have a reputation to keep.” Her voice was light. It was true, the whole statement. And she would rather no one know about that skill, but it was one she enjoyed immensely.

“Now, what can I answer for you. I know you have your other onboardings to get done today. I’m clearing you for duty. But I don’t want throw you to the sharks, as the saying goes.”
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

Anaya inclined her head in a gesture of both acknowledgement and thanks.

“Just one question if I may yes? I usually prefer to work fairly informally, do you happen to know the captains policy on uniform? I know every captain can be different in this regard and I am not wanting to appear too informal but I often have conducted sessions in civilian attire as I find it beneficial to my way of working.”
