Casela smiled at Luna’s question about Juliet, but didn’t answer. Luna needed to learn to make fair and honest evaluations of people rather than trusting in other opinions. Juliet was there, like the rest of them, as a Star Fleet officer, which meant they had been vetted by Star Fleet command AND ARU command as well. She watched Gen with Cobb and shook her head. One of these days Gen was going to REALLY scare Cobb. But he seemed to adore her and Gen had taken to him from the very beginning. Casela grinned turning her attention away from the influx of officers and listened to Surda. Great zero-gs. Maybe this was a bad idea, she didn’t need to puke all over her partner.

Jin’Lor grimaced, not sure he wanted to play this game, but shrugged. “It seems interesting enough to join.” He stated and glanced toward Jeane, who was standing there looking very uncomfortable.

The young winged teen was twiddling his thumbs. “I don’t know…I never played many games.” He said.

“Jeane, you don’t have to if you don’t want to.” Jin’Lor interjected. “Just make a choice before things begin. You can’t be indecisive all the time.”

“I know…” The silver haired boy said with a glance toward Cerenity and Gen. He did want to make friends. “I’ll stay.”

Gen had moved away from Cobb and walked around both Cerenity and this new boy a few times. Walked being the incorrect term, floated around a few centimetres from the ground. Which in itself was mildly rude as she was staring, yellow neon eyes glowing as she did. “It’s ok. If you don’t want to play we can always go see the fish.” She said still circling slowly.

Gen

Cobb watched the children silently. When he accepted the role of Commanding Officer of the most dangerous starship in the quadrant, it had not included any pledge to house or shield minors. But in spite of his own misanthropy, he could not help but acknowledge the current of humanity that accompanied minds so innocent and unsullied. Or, in the case of these particular children, at least more unsullied than the various adults onboard. In truth, their effect on the crew was a positive one, a visual and emotional reminder of their reasons for hunting anomalies. And a reminder also, of what lay at stake should the Leviathan’s mission fail…

Casela watched Gen out of the corner of her eye. Hoping she didn’t scare the young teen, but hoping she felt comfortable enough to be herself. But her main focus was on Juliet and trying to reconcile, find a solution, to their problem. Her father and Uncle Jo’nar used to tie them together and make them work together when they would argue. Of course they had loved it so much they would argue on purpose to get their fathers to do it. This looked like a very similar situation. She glanced at Surda and nodded her head subtly at Juliet. If she was lucky maybe Surda would stick them together.

“If everyone could place both hands in front of them and close their eyes, I will place your partner with you now.” Surda betrayed nothing in her body language, but she had seen, and agreed with, Casela’s request already.

She walked around the group, moving people into place beside their partners and attaching them to each other for the foreseeable future. Casela and Juliet, Jin’Lor and Akunon, Cerenity and Gen, Luna and Cobb, Anaya and Irida. She paused beside Jeane, tapping him to get his attention. “I thought you might be most comfortable with the person who has the key,” Surda whispered, “and I have a good feeling about your chances on this course.” She offered him the handcuffs to tie the two of them together.
-Surda, CoS

Luna tensed when the hand cuffs were placed on her an Cobb. She could not help that for a moment she was stuck in her past. Remembering the scientists started using sothhithing similar to control and help them move her from her room to the lab. Sje took a deep breath and shook her head. Cerenity because a little Anxious as well though this was more to do with not liking her wigs touched and the close proximity to Gen made that more likely.
Ensign Luna

Jin’Lor stared at the handcuffs for a long moment, an uncomfortable expression on his face, but said nothing. It was not much difference to him if he was attached to someone or not. Working with another had always been interesting over the years of his life. With a calm look toward Akunon, he stated, “This should be interesting.”

Luran nodded to Jin’Lor, seemingly not at all worried about the handcuffs. As long as she and Jin’Lor could work together, it would be fine, and Jin’Lor seemed a reasonable person. “I agree.”

Jeane gazed at Surda for a long moment before turning his lavender colored eyes to the handcuffs with fear. Memories of the person who had hurt him most swam through his mind and sent cold chills through his entire body. He took a step away from her. “I…I can’t wear those…” He murmured and tried to shake off the memories. This was not the time or place for a panic attack, despite what his mind wanted him to do. “I’m sorry…”

Narrowing his blue eyes, Jin’Lor was tempted to step forward and intervene but remember the cuffs and kept in place. It was obvious by the look on his face he was worried about Jeane.

Surda nodded and tucked the cuffs away, about to speak when she was cut off.

“Its ok Jeane miss. Sandra won’t hurt you and she has the key so you can have them removed at any time” she said from her spot. Luna smiled at Cerenity.

” Jeane your a winged human are you not its only natural for people like us to no enjoy being caged or chained up. Its ok im afraid of the hand cuffs. You can get past it i know you can. Just don’t think about it and have fun its a game after all” Luna added theee pair trying to encourage Jeane.

“Ensign. He is within his rights to refuse, as is Gen, as Cerenity would be.” She knelt down and offered Jeane her hand instead, speaking to him quietly. “We all have our demons. Are you alright with holding hands?”
-Surda, CoS

Casela nodded to Juliet, having her at her side like this was familiar and dare she suggest, comfortable? Her attention however was drawn to the conversation Surda was having with Jeane and Luna’s interjection. Surda seemed to have it well in hand and she gave her just a tiny nod. If it escalated, Surda just needed to call her and she’d help. Otherwise she trusted Surda to handle it. She turned back to Juliet. “It’s been awhile, but I think I remember.”
Lt. Synthi-er

Jeane looked to Surda’s hand and nodded slowly. “Yeah, I’m okay with holding hands.” He told her as his wings relaxed, the black and lavender colored feathers brushing against his sides. “I’m sorry if I’m trouble. I don’t mean to be.”

“You are no trouble at all,” Surda vowed, “and if someone onboard says you are, you can report them to me.” Her trainers had wanted tenacity and conviction, and she applied every bit of it to the protection of children.
-Surda, CoS

Jin’Lor’s tense state calmed down the moment he saw Jeane relaxing and he let out a breathe he had not realized he was holding. Any time he saw his adopted son in trouble he always felt as if he had to help. It was difficult to keep himself in check at times. He would have to thank Surda later for helping the boy.

Luran watched Jin’Lor’s reaction, hoping the teenager wouldn’t cause her partner for the game further distraction. But she kept her mouth shut and instead turned her attention back to Surda for further instructions.

Gen looked down at her partner and the cuffs. “Is it a race?” She asked Cerenity.

Gen

” I think so ether way I’m glad I get to do it with you” Cerenity said happly.
Cerenity

Jeane simply smiled to Surda, unsure how to respond at this time. The teen was still nervous, but really wanted to have fun. With a glance to his father, he knew they could only wait to see how things would go.

Casela rolled her shoulders, and as best she could, stretch her arms. They’d done this before too. She stepped in front of Juliet, facing her and moved her arms in mirror to Juliet. She lifted her feet, one at a time, behind her, and holding her ankle, stretched her quad muscles, and then flexed her ankles several times. She crossed wrists with Juliet as they continued to stretch, while Surda got everyone ready. Casela turned back to the course and wondered how extreme the differences in gravity were going to be, and wished she had time to get Dramamine-s from Knox first.

Cobb lifted his cuffed arm, unavoidably raising Luna’s own arm with it, and closely examined the cuff.
“Well, when you woke this morning I bet the last thing you expected was to spend the day chained to your captain,” he chuckled. Then, taking as much of a step backwards as their forced proximity would allow, he cast a glance along the length of Luna’s left wing before concluding with a wink, “I can’t help but feel you might have a distinct advantage in these light-footed conditions. Until my bulk weighs you down again, at any rate.”

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Luna smiled and shook her head. ” we have to be careful it’s very likely that I could brake my wrist or fook of you step on me. ” Luna said gently. But then smiled. She opens her wings the tips of flight fethers visible on the other side of the captain. And flight using my wings is out of the question we are to close to one and other the air is still her I would need to be able to mKe my wing tips meet on the down stroke to keep both of us in the air. Luna said as she closed her wing. “But we will have other advantages. For example im faster then most hopefully you can keep up. I’ll tell you a secret captain my entire style of fight is based around how fast I can move especially hand to hand. I don’t have the strength or waght to throw behind my attacks but I make up for that with stored energy from a run jump or dive.” Luna said.

“Now then, who would like to go first?” Surda looked around the group, surveying the pairs. There was one obstacle that would be easy for each team, but the course as a whole would be a challenge.

The course started with two balance bars set side by side, and also introduced the first gravity fluctuation. As soon as the competitor stepped on, the gravity would increase, making keeping their balance even harder.
The second challenge was an 8 ft tall wall, where competitors would have to boost one member over and then pull the other up from the top. The gravity would be slightly lighter than Earth normal, challenging the team to keep fine control when they were stronger than usual.
Next was the Zero gravity portion of the course, with rings at different heights attached to both the floor and ceiling. Going too fast would cause the team to spin out of control, but being too cautious would add more time than they could make up. The last ring was set into the ground, ensuring that the team coming out of the course section would not be dangerously high during the gravity change.
The fourth challenge was 14 pads set 4 feet above the ground. Both members of the team would have to jump and land at the same time to keep from falling off. The fourth challenge was at ship’s normal gravity.
The fifth and final challenge required the competitors to climb along two ropes, one above the other, to make it to the final platform, 12 feet above the ground.
-Surda, CoS, Obstacle Course Creator

OOC: Question on the fifth challenge. Is this like, walk along the bottom one and hold the other top for balance/safety. Or one walking lower and the other higher? And how much room is between the cuffs?
-Jenn

OOC: Walking on the bottom rope and the top is balance. There are around 4 inches of chain between the cuffs.

” Some of these obstacles require us to move in tandem we will need to camulicat clearly and quickly captain” She said. She had no desire to brake any of her bones. She was already looking at the course trying to come up with a strategy.

Jin’Lor grimaced in distaste, but did not complain as he looked to Luran. “As long as we keep good communication and work together we should be fine.” He stated, silently wishing he had not chosen to do this. As someone more accustomed to working alone, the geneticist was not comfortable with this situation or the course before them, but he would go through with it. It never hurt to try having fun every now and then, right? He only hoped his teenage son would be fine.

Jeane had a nervous expression on his face as he looked toward the course. “I hope I don’t break anything…” He murmured, thinking of his wings as they folded tightly against his back.

Surda laughed, not unkindly. “It would be very hard to break something on this course, my safety protocols are very advanced,” she assured him.
