This wasn’t exactly the ship Luran had envisioned herself being on. But after three postings in two years, she hoped this would be the one that stuck. She had found early on that getting the check-in stuff done as quickly as possible was usually the best way to do things. So, more or less as soon as she was on board, Luran headed for the CMO’s office.As a Vulcan, Luran did not particularly care for emotions. She preferred the Vulcan’s school of thought, that logic was the best way to rule one’s life and emotions merely a distraction causing bad decisions to be made. Meanwhile, as a Betazoid, she had been so… fortunate as to inherit her mother’s empathic abilities. It had taken her some time to balance the two. After all, one could not suppress emotions which were not their own.
But, as she rang the buzzer on the door of the CMO’s office, her focus was on the meeting more than anything else, and since she wasn’t the best empath in history, the emotions of other people milling about weren’t much of a bother. She stood just outside the door, patiently awaiting an answer.

The door opened and a dark haired man with a slight beard and a black apron stood eyebrows raised in surprise at finding himself disturbed it seemed. He smiled as he took in the person before him and stepped back from the doorway to allow Luran access to the office. Flexing his black glove clad fingers slightly. “Good day.” He said pleasantly. “Won’t you come inside? how can I help you?”
He peeled off the elbow length gloves and set them down on the bench at the back of i his office where a sheet had been draped over something he had evidently been working on.
Dr Knox
Luran took in the appearance of the man, and then the draped sheet, covering something she had no guesses as to what it could have been. So, she returned her attention to the man. “You must be Dr. Knox, the ship’s CMO? I’m the new medical officer, Ensign Akunon, sir.” She pronounced her name as Ah-k-non, barely pronouncing the ‘u’ when introduced herself. Then, she stepped into the office, taking care not to be in his way.

Theo moved to his desk. “That is correct. A pleasure to meet you, please have a seat.” He indicated the chair opposite him. “Would you like something from the replicator.”
Dr Knox
“And you,” said Luran, sitting down. “A spice tea would be excellent.” It was a beverage she quite enjoyed on Vulcan, and so she still often chose it from the replicators.

Theo moved to get the requested beverage and then sat it in front of her before taking how own seat again. “Tell me, what is your field of speciality?” He asked as he himself brought a cup of dark cherry liquid to his mouth and took a sip.
Dr Knox
“Emergency medicine,” Luran replied, “I also study alien anatomy and physiology.” She took a sip of her drink. On her previous posting, the emergency med was quite handy. Here, she assumed both would be useful.

“I can imagine that will come in useful around this ship.” Theo said with a smile. “ And your trip to meet us, I trust it was uneventful.” He asked.
