Frustration was written all over Jin’Lor Venneroe’s face as he dragged Jeane along toward medical upon the USS Leviathan. They had recently arrived and were told to head to this way, which Jin did not mind much at all. Jeane, on the other hand, wanted to fight visiting doctors as much as possible. It was not his choice, but a requirement, thus the need to go there even if he had to drag the sixteen year old.

“I don’t want to, dad…” Jeane murmured.

Snorting, Jin continued to pull him along. “You’ve got to. It’s protocol.” He explained.

Upon entering medical, he offered a wave toward the medical officer. He silently hoped Jeane would not fight them.

NE Starling smiled. “Hi, how can I help you today?” She asked both casting a glance over the teenager and then the older man. “Let me guess boarding exams?”

She looked around and pointed to a pair of free beds. “Have a seat over there for a moment I’ll find a doctor to help you both.” She moved off into-sickbay leaving them to get settled.

NE Starling

Jin’Lor nodded to NE Starling and ushered Jeane toward the beds. “I know you don’t like being around actual doctors much, but it’ll be fine, son.” He told the silver haired winged boy. “I’m here to keep you safe if anything happens.”

Jeane only nodded as he sat upon one of the free beds and glanced around nervously. “Will I have to show them my scars?” He asked softly.

“Most likely. It’s only to understand what they’re dealing with, though.” Jin’Lor replied as he adjusted his coat. It was old and torn near the bottom, but he refused to replace the old thing. It was all he had left of his mother, after all.

“How long do we have to wait?” Jeane asked, looking as if he might bolt for the door any second.

“As long as we have to.” The geneticist sighed heavily.

Ensign Jin’Lor Venneroe

“In fact not long at all.” Said a calm cultured voice from behind the pair. Theo approached with a smile, his arms folded behind his back. He had forgone his usual apron look and instead had his normal uniform and a lab coat over it today. Smiling the doctor took in the pair and added. “I am Doctor Theodore Knox, the ships chief medical officer. Ensign Starling tells me you are both here for your boarding exam?”

He looked at the NE who was hovering nearby and tipped his head slightly. “Thank you Clarice, you may return to your duties now.”

Dr Knox

Turning to the doctor, Jin’Lor quickly grabbed Jeane’s arm before he could bolt for the door. The teen whimpered his displeasure, gazing at the man with a mixture of distaste and fear. “I apologize for my son’s behavior.” The scientist grunted and gently pulled Jeane back into place. “He was unaware of your gender…” With a sigh, he slowly released his son.

“I can see that.” Theo said watching the boys reaction with some interest. “Please don’t apologise.”

“You won’t hurt me, will you?” Jeane was quick to ask doctor, his fear of men very evident at this point.

Intriguing reaction, and ironic in and of itself. Theodore considered internally as he watched the boy and his guardian. Father perhaps? Externally he gave a reassuring smile.

“I will do my best not to harm you in anyway.” He answered kindly, sincerely. After all harm and hurt were different concepts. “Do you want to tell me how you feel being in sickbay? We can move somewhere else if you’d prefer.”

Dr Knox

Jeane just clung to his father’s arm, unwilling to speak at this point as he tried to put distance between himself and the doctor.

Slight frustration written on his face at his son’s behavior, Jin’Lor offered a forced smile. “My son is always uncomfortable around medical supplies and…men. Again, I apologize for his behavior.” He stated calmly. “I think it would be best if we moved to a more open space at least. It’ll give him room to move around better. We really just want to get through this pretty quick so he won’t have a panic attack.”

Ensign Jin’Lor Venneroe

Theo nodded. “Certainly. Where would you suggest.” He asked. “Or if you prefer I could ask a female staff member to attend to you both.”

Dr Knox

Jin’Lor grimaced, unsure how to answer. He wanted to get Jeane to face his fears and work on getting over his fear of men, but he did not wish to stress the teen out more than need be. “Perhaps…” He began, but Jeane inturrupted.

“It’s fine,” Jeane said with surprising confidence. “I need to get over that fear. Uhm…where is best to go so that I don’t smack anyone with my wings by accident.?”
