-USS Leviathan, Deck 11 between RTF Barracks and Cargo Bay 2-
(Snip)
=^= Copy, Chief Vonn =^= came a distracted reply from Cobb, =^= On my way… =^=

Luna gave Vonn a strange look. She did not say he simply call her Luna. She was Ensign Luna, she did not apresheat him calling her without her rank. She slowly dropped her hand and moved awY several more feet but she remanded corched at the strangers level. She had a sneaking suspicion that the attempt to contane him was not going to go will at all.

OOC:Split Thread

When Vonn spoke to Luna, Franklin’s head snapped up and his eyes fixed upon the breen. If a look could freeze the blood, this was that look. Dark eyes bright with fever and madness, set with an unholy fire of determination, he stared at Vonn. “What have you done to my ship?!” His voice began as a whisper but crescendoed into a scream of rage. “YOU KILLED THEM!” frequency fluctuation and the crackle of strange energy distorted his screaming voice as he flickered visibly, appearing one second on the deck, and the next on his feet. An aura formed around him, and he began to float off the deck slightly…

About that time the rest of the Black Devils came through the door. Derrick Trainor, the sharp shooter, having heard weapons fire, came in phaser rifle at the ready, but pointed down, as he swept the area. “Lihew!” Irida called. The big burly Klingon was their containment specialist. Irida started pulling what looked like pattern enhancers out of her pack and setting them around Franklin as Lihew took scans with his tricorder trying to pinpoint exactly what frequency Franklin was fluctuating at so that he could program the enhancers to keep him stable. Niven, Vulcan and the team medic stood outside the containment area, one hand resting on her Mark VII the other holding a med kit, waiting to see where and if she might be needed. She looked at Luna, “Are there any others in need of medical aid?” Uj’aw, another Klingon and the last of the team entered and began sweeping the rest of the area, looking for pockets of anomalous energy, survivors, injured, and any of a myriad of other threats.

IC: “There was a women in need of medical attention. But she phased out with the rest of his ship.” Luna said. She was not sure if the women was lost or if it was possible to get the ship back and save her.
Ensign Luna

Then as the Black Devils began to surround the area, he was launching himself at Vonn, hands outstretched as if he would rend the breen limb from limb with them. He looked for all the world like some spirit of vengeance from an ancient storybook…

Elsewhere, there were a handful of yet-living phased crew members, including the woman Luna had seen. They had phased further, following the molecular changing of the Augustine itself. They could be scanned for and found; if the right frequencies were used before they drifted back outside of the Leviathan.

Surda wasn’t concerned for Vonn. He wouldn’t have made it this far if he couldn’t dodge a half-crazed man in midair. Instead, she turned to Irida. “Talk to him. The three of us are less than conducive to feelings of safety, but you…” Human, Starfleet uniform. He was far more likely to trust her than a Breen, an Orion, or a winged woman. “Yell at him if you have to, just get his name, and get him to calm down.” She had seen it before, beings in a panic being snapped back to themselves the moment they received orders. A sort of conditioned response for high-stress scenarios.
-Surda, CoS

Irida was busy helping Lihew on the containment, but she heard Surda. “Слишком много поваров на кухне” (too many cooks in the kitchen). Honestly she liked Surda, and she was in charge of the containment decks, but she really liked Vonn. He had already done a lot to improve RTF and right now this was an RTF thing. Irida had no idea what the working relationship was between Surda and Vonn and she had no desire to be caught in the middle.

She saw Franklin begin to move toward Vonn and already being between Franklin and Vonn there wasn’t much more to do. She pulled her Mark VII and set the pulse to moderate intensity. If he didn’t stop he’d get the shock of his life. She held the baton out and one hand in a ‘stop’ gesture. She had no idea his name, no one had informed them nor had the creature announced it, but his pips indicated his rank. “CAPTAIN! You are onboard the USS Leviathan. A Federation star ship. You WILL act accordingly!” She wasn’t sure any of their uniforms would help. RTF uniforms, though similar, were not familiar to regular Star Fleet.

About that time Lihew grunted, “Got it.” He programmed the ‘enhancers’ to emit light waves to keep them visible and then sound waves to interrupt the phasing and keep him solid, and finally a forcefield to keep him there. He placed the last enhancer behind Irida. “Irida, move.” She dodged to the side as Lihew activated the field and held her breath waiting to see if it worked.

Surda winced internally at Irida’s irritation, resolving to apologize to her after. Perhaps with a nice knife.

As the screaming, maniacal figure covered in crackling energy flew at them, Vonn didn’t move. A few feet shy of crashing into the Breen, the field snapped into place.

The helmeted Breen stood motionless for a few moments, the visor aimed directly at the figure behind the field. Then the voice said “RTF. Continue the search for survivors. Containment teams on standby for other individuals in a similar state.” Vonn then took a step towards the field. The tall armored figure squatted down to where the man was and the helmet’s visor fixed on the man. Even with no face visible, the body language of the breen almost screamed That’s enough. Then the voice spoke.

” Captain. I am Chief Warrant Officer Kodek Vonn. You are on the Federation starship Leviathan. You will refrain from further attacks on this crew. Do so, we will aide you. Do not, and you will be dealt with. This is not a negotiation. You are in a position to demand nothing. I, on the other hand, am in a position to grant nothing. Do you understand, Captain?”

Vonn, RTF CO

Okay, Irida didn’t care what anyone else said, she was totally impressed by Vonn. Manhattan had a quiet way about him that reassured everyone, but it was more like the father figure. Vonn was more like the anti-hero that you can’t help but be drawn to. Lihew walked by and snorted, luckily the only one who could hear his next comment was Irida. “Move it Irida. He’d eat you alive.” She grinned and grabbed up her pack. It was the kind of banter between a well trained and familiar team. It didn’t detract from their work, it simply kept them in sync.

The Spectre bounced against the field with a flash and a cry of pain.

His attempts to exit the field caused wracking pain and shaking.

Here, Franklin pushed against the field, despite the pain and his shaking body. He pressed hard, still trying to get to the Breen. His eyes blazing with crackling energy.

“I never forget a face…” Franklin smiled in such an unhinged manner that one might actually believe he could see beneath the helmet.

He was about to say something else when his visage changed to an expression of terror. Something unseen was rushing toward him and he backed away in fear until there was a blinding flash and he screamed and contorted as a large section of ghostly wreckage collided with him and became a cloud of particles, mixing with his body, being absorbed and taken in like so much energy into a battery.

When it was over, he lay still on the floor of the enclosed area that had been created for him. Silent, but pulsing weirdly.

Luna just stared shocked she was use to nonsense but this level of nonsense was well not like anything she had seen. She quickly snaped about of it and looked to Niven ” Yes follow me” Luna said moving torhe spot where the woman had been trapped. ” There was a women here but she phased out with the ship befor I could free her. Is there any way to get her back and save her” Luna asked. This was science type stuff that she did not know much about. She know basic first ade ofcurse but these was way out of her scope of knowledge. She hated it fealing unless. She looked back up to the stranger then the Breen. She half stood. ” What is going on ” she said as the ship collided with the stranger. She half wanted to run over to containment to help bit know better and stayed put the women who was trapped her needed help now.
Ensign Luna

Niven followed Luna and flipped down her head set. She could still see the woman on the Gamma spectrum. “Lihew! Hurry up!” Lihew and Irida along with Uj’aw came jogging over all flipping down their head sets to look. “Alright, Niven, I’m going to errect another containment area but without the forcefield so you can get in there.” It took less than a minute with Lihew, Uj’aw, and Irida placing the enhancers, and Lihew already knew the frequency to use. And with a sudden buzzing snap everyone could see the woman. Niven moved in scanning her with a tricorder, Uj’aw close behind incase this woman became violent like the other one. =^=Niven to sickbay. Medical emergency. I need a surgical team down here on deck 11.=^= She sent the scans, showing the blood loss and the bulkhead punctured through the woman to sickbay. She placed a device on her forehead and then tossed the other to Luna. “Get this on her feet. I need to put her in a bio stasis field. I can’t reach her feet for the bulkhead and I can’t move her. Can you reach?”
MCPO Irida
Black Devils

” Right” Luna said as she caught the device and headed to the persons feet quickly abating it to her. ” Ok its attached can I try and get the bulkhead moved off of her? or would that desterb her to much” Luna asked. She wanted to get the poor woman free but did not know ow if that would make her situation worse.
Ensign Luna

“The weight of the bulkhead may be preventing her from bleeding out,” Surda murmured, standing slightly behind Luna. “Better to wait for the doctors.”
-Lt. Surda, CoS

Niven nodded, “That was my thought as well. Thank you En Luna.” She said politely as the security officer got the device placed. She tapped several buttons in sequence and the biostasis field powered to life holding the woman in suspended animation. Niven knew it was a long shot. Lihew’s containment was holding her in place but once they tried to move her outside the contained area, she didn’t know what would happen.

He found the RTF team by sound, his own phaser drawn for the approach. Apprehension tore through his frame like electricity, though whether the anomaly or the Breen were the source, Cobb could not quite bear to decipher.

“Chief Officer Vonn,” he announced his arrival once the familiar armour came into view, no desire to take anyone by surprise. “You requested me?”

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

The helmet turned to face at Cobb, and then slowly turned back to face the anomalous individual. “I did.” the voice said and then the right arm raised and pointed at the contained ‘man’. “You should see this.” was all Vonn said.

Vonn, RTF CO

The captain nodded, Vonn’s own lack of tension causing him to lower his own weapon as he stepped forward and towards the force field.
“By the gods,” he murmured, peering closely at the one trapped inside. “Is that a man? Does he somehow…live? Or do I merely look upon a trick of the light?”

Something in the man’s face was familiar to Cobb, the madness in his eyes communicating a tale that could have been his own. Confusion at the destruction of one’s own ship. Anger at the inability to save it. Hatred for the confirmation of one’s own impotency. Then guilt. So much guilt. For every component and every deck and every life wiped out in the fight.

“I am Captain Zachariah Cobb of the USS Leviathan,” he announced with as much gravitas as he could muster. “And I recognise a fellow starship captain when I see one. Your name, Sir? Your business on my ship?”

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Irida, Lihew, and Trainor continued to move about the area looking for more phased individuals, and setting up containment areas, and hopefully trapping any bulky items as well that were just floating and getting rid of pieces that might fuse and damage the ship. Uj’aw stayed with Niven incase her patient decided to cause any violent trouble like the now solid form of a star fleet captain over by Vonn.

bump

The breen had been before him, and he’d done his best to fight back, but this… cage? Something surrounded him and contained him, he couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe. The pressure on his body was immense, like being netted and wrapped in cords. He struggled to threaten the Breen further but was suddenly aware of… Augustine. She was coming back. He could see the ship, her pieces, every particle of her… All coming for him, seeking to rejoin what she had lost… to utterly consume him again. In his terror of being trapped in that timeless hell again, he screamed and screamed but it was too late.

It all crashed into his consciousness at once and there was perfect stillness.

This time, it was different. Clearer.

Clearer?

He saw everything from above.

His body, Leviathan, The Black Devils, the Breen, Cobb.

He saw his crew in various throes of living and dying, only they were part of him now.

He hadn’t been consumed…

He had absorbed them.

He knew he wasn’t there.

Wasn’t anywhere in the same plane of existence as these people.

Yet he was.

Part of him, his body, was contained there. Trapped.

Cobb’s words came.

The body in the containment field struggled and sat up.

Painfully, he got to his hands and knees.

Shakily, he stood up, bracing himself on the field himself.

The field glowed where his hands contact it, but it no longer pained him.

The madness was gone from his eyes, but the color as well had bled away to white.

“Captain Cobb…” He said, voice distorted by the field. “I’m Captain Joseph Franklin, USS Augustine.”

He looked around, seeing for the first time, the damage. Not just to his ship and people but to Leviathan. His eyes came back to Cobb. “You have to get this ship away from here. Now. This whole sector should be quarantined. No one can come here. Please.” He lifted a hand, looked at it in wonder for a second, and then gestured. “I’ll explain what I can once you’re clear, but tell them to go to warp now, it’s not safe!”

Then his face went into an odd detached expression as he let his body go once more and became aware of the outside…

-Franklin, Anomalous Individual

“Aye,” Cobb replied, as if in a dream, the vision of the man before him almost hypnotic in its fascination. Slowly, he found his own hand raising and reaching forward as if to connect with the other, a burst of energy hissing in warning as his fingers connected with the field.

It was enough to break his trance and, almost immediately, Cobb stepped back and slammed that same hand against his commbadge.
=^= Commander Raauhl, take the ship to warp and away from this location immediately! =^=

As he waited for his orders to be actioned, feet braced for the telltale rumble through deck-plating, the captain eyes returned to the other, still trapped behind the invisible field.
“Captain Franklin. I know of you and your ship. I heard the stories, this past year, of the disappearance of the Augustine with all hands lost. To what hidden location did you go? And how is it that you are now returned?”

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Franklin’s eyes focused again and fixed on Cobb. He shook his head at her question. “You don’t you see it, do you… I am not returned. In a way, I’ll never be able to come back… Neither will Augustine or anyone who was aboard.” He looked at his hands once more, examining them. “I’m here, but I’m still there with them. We’re still stuck between… I’m just the embodiment of whatever small parts of us were forced back through, but I’m not myself, Captain. Just a shadow held over from a place where there is nothing and everything. For us, Time is happening all at once, with no beginning or ending, no delineations or borders between moments or people or events. Incorporeal, totally non-linear existence. Freedom, real freedom. Yet, Hell and agony because we were not meant for such an existence.”

Then he laughed. There was no joy in, but the bitterness of true understanding. The valve of grief allowing tension to decrease, but doing nothing to actually stem the tide of pain.
