Madison exited her new quarters and walked swiftly towards the Chief Science Officer’s office. Her uniform was standard Starfleet issue with the well-known science blue coloration on her shoulders. One of the aspects that was nice about the Leviathan was that her quarters were located on the main science deck. On most ships her quarters would be on a separate deck all together. That advantage provided her with more time to herself every morning without having to travel across the ship to her main department every day. She greeted those that she passed down the corridor and provided them with a friendly smile. Her blonde hair was tied in a tight neat bun and her sky blue eyes scanned the door to the office. She pressed the notification bell to let the Chief Science Officer know that they had a visitor. Madison relaxed and awaited their response with her hands set at her sides.

Lazol was working on some spreadsheets, banking statements, more accounting work than science work but it was all important. He was not just the CSO, he was the man responsible for the profitability of the ship and he was going to make certain that he was making money. The chime sent out it’s perfectly calibrated tone and Lazol grumpily barked. “What?” As he waved the doors open putting down his PaDD and looking expectantly up at the officer before him. He didn’t recognize her but that wasn’t exceptionally interesting in and of itself, he didn’t know most of his staff. As long as the few that reported to him gave him good news and the others did their work he didn’t really feel a need to know their names. “Well?” He said as he gave her a slight glare. It was obvious he was annoyed that he was interrupted but he wasn’t overtly rude.

Madison took a look around the Ferengi’s office noticing the business paperwork on his desk. This was not at all surprising to her, he was a Ferengi after all. Afterwards, she looked downwards at Lazol as she made direct-eye contact with him and was not at all phased by his little attitude problem. Instead she attempted an ice breaker to brighten the mood, “Have you been turning any profits here on the Leviathan recently? After all, according to the 19th rule of acquisition, ‘A Ferengi without profit is no Ferengi at all’.” She grinned after her comment as she had been reading up on the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition ever since she found out that she would have to report to a non-Starfleet Ferengi as her Chief Science Officer. She also did this in an attempt to better understand the race as a whole and to help fine tune her approach in her future dealings with Lazol. Madison was not at all thrilled with the sentence of working under him, but she knew that she would have to deal with it until a transfer opportunity opened up in the future to progress further in her Starfleet career. Her high hopes of working under a highly regarded Starfleet Science Officer were dashed for the moment. She decided to keep things professional and introduced herself, “I am Dr. Madison Marsh and I just wanted to let you know that I will be working on the Leviathan as a Senior Researcher in Exobiology. I will be researching potential anomalies and will do my best to present promising investment opportunities for you in the near future.”
