It was a quiet enuff morning Cerenity was happily in her little lab she had planted the four flowers Sandra had given her and looming at the slides of the plant cells under the microscope. When the shadows appeared. ” Hello, little bird. Did you think you could escape us” they said.

Cerenity stared at the corner of the room where they were. To her they appeared as a twisted mass of nonsense. ” you know you can never escape little bird.” Thay said. Cerenity burst into tears and let out a blood-curdling scream. Anyone walking by would have heard it. ” go away leave me alone she cried. Forcing herself as far back into a corner as she could. ” no one is coming to her you little bird your mother is at work and you’re all alone. ” they taunted. ” No I’m not ” she screeched at the corners where the shadows were.

Cerenity continued to cry as the shadows continued to torment her. ” someone help make it stop” she whimpered. The shadows laughed at her, ” no one is coming to help your are even human who would want a half-wiled thing like you” they said. Cerenity screeched again =/\= Computer Help please get someone to help me=/\= she whimpered.
Cerenity

The Computer had flagged Cerenity’s plea as a Security Request, and coming from a child, Surda had responded near instantly. She arrived in Cerenity’s lab barely 3 minutes after, calling for the girl before she even entered. “Cerenity? What’s wrong?”
-Surda, CoS

” Help” Cerenity whimpered. When Surda entered the lab she would find only Cerenity curled up in the corner of the room crying. For Cerenity she could see the shadows in the opposite side of the room hear them laughing at her. ” make them go she whimpered someone help me please” she whimpered.
Cerenity

Surda looked towards the wall but found nothing. She frowned for a moment, shifting her weight uncertainly. “We’re leaving,” She announced to the room at large. “and no person or thing is coming with us.” She crossed to the girl and picked her up easily, holding her against her chest with one arm. Surda turned in a circle, looking for any sign of them, and still finding nothing, walked back out the door with Cerenity.

The shadows moved twords Surdar though she could not see them. ” good job little bird now we will eat this ignorant adult. ” thay said. Cerenity screeched ” No you won’t, Surda get out of her quilt they will eat you” Serenity screeched. As they left the room all Cerenity heard was the laughter of the shadows. She barred her face into Sandra’s shoulder aand cried. ” They followed me they followed me from the Viking” she said in between fits of crying.
Cerenity

Surda shifted again, uncertain. She might be used to things a bit more unusual than the average security officer, but invisible assailants that didn’t seem to be truly attacking anyone were somewhat outside of her usual range. “Let’s go find Miss Casela, alright?” She spoke soothingly, in the voice she always used to calm victims. “While we’re walking, can you tell me more about them?” She turned towards Casela’s office, hoping that the other woman could offer a more certain viewpoint on what had happened.
-Surda, CoS

” they they are from the Viking they caught daddy and Kara” she whimpered holding on to Sandra tightly. She burst into another fight of crying. “They want to kill eveyone. Mommy Doesn’t think they are real no one believes me because they can’t see them” she whimpered. ” and its all my fault eveyone is in danger because they followed me” she cried.
Cerenity

Surda hummed soothingly as she thought and navigated the halls, keeping her steps even to avoid jostling the girl. “Some cultures believe only children can see certain entities. That adults have become too close-minded. Perhaps, if we can’t see them, we can find someone else who can.” She stopped outside of Casela’s office, pressing the chime with her free hand.
-Surda, CoS

As Surda walked she would feal something wrap around her ankle and squeezed. ” Leave her alone” Cerenity screeched panicked that the shadows had tried to take Surda. The fealing of sumthing wrapped tightly around her ankle was gone.

There was no answer from Casela’s office. In fact, looking around Surda would notice that the deck appeared to be empty. Upon closer inspection she would see a sign on the main desk, ‘Counseling Deck Closed Today. No appointments available. In the event of an emergency Lt Synthi-er can be paged.’ Today was the staff’s mandatory down day for self care. Command had approved a scheduled day off every two weeks for the counseling staff to see to each other’s needs, in order to keep them healthy enough to help the rest of the crew. Casela could be paged using the normal comm system.
Lt Synthi-er, CNS

Haran.” Surda cursed softly, at both the sign and the strange thing apparently stalking her. =/\=Lt. Surda to Lt. Synthi-er, we have a situation on the Counseling Deck.=/\=
-Surda, CoS

The entirety of the counseling staff was in the holosuite 7 one deck up. This deck was very quiet and the only other thing on the deck was crew quarters. As the page came though the whole of the group groaned. “Emergencies! Only emergencies, really that’s not so hard. 1 day in every 14, come on!” That was Dean. They all grinned, some laughing, at the overly dramatic arm movements he was employing. Casela got up from her lotus position on the large over stuffed floor pillow. =^=On my Lt.=^= “Awww come on Lt. You don’t have to go. One of us will.” That was Ziecest. He knew how much Casela needed this time. The last year hadn’t been kind to anyone, but the last 6 months of it had had it’s own trials aimed right at Synthi-er. “It’s alright Ziecest. It’s Surda, she wouldn’t call if it wasn’t important. I’ll be back, and if not, well…you’re a bunch of hooligans anyway.” They all laughed because she was most definantly the ring leader. What had started out as an attempt at group meditation had quickly fallen into what could only be described as a teenage co-ed slumber party. Broughous leaned over and loudly whispered, “Yeah if she doesn’t come back she’s gone home to the Cmdr while Gen’s busy with her ‘studies.’” Lots of guffaws followed as Casela slipped out the holosuite door and took the nearest turbolift down one deck. She came out from the far aft turbolift and made her way toward her office. She could feel the anxiety and concern from Surda and the total terror of Cerenity. Cerenity was always into something, but she was 4 and it was to be expected. She was defiant and head strong, and prone to tantrums when she didn’t get her way, again she was 4. But she was not prone to fits of terror. She remembered when Luna had first arrived they had talked about the shadows that had plagued Cerenity and the utter terror the memories invoked. She’d offered Luna to work with Cerenity about it, but Luna had never brought her back. And Casela was strict about parent permission when it came to children. It was the terror and Surda’s obvious alertness that had her increasing to a slight job as she neared her office. She came around the corner to find Surda holding Cerenity, who was sobbing, or had been, it was hard to tell from her vantage point. All the joviality of a few moments before gone as Casela did a thorough visual sweep of the area. “Surda?”
Lt Synthi-er, CNS

Cerenity was indeed still crying. What ever had tarified her had really upset her. It’s was not at all like the 4 year old to be quite this upset or cry this much. The shadows were enjoying it however. ” another one to eat” they said to her. ” No you leave them alone” Cerenity screeched. Casela my get the vague sence of another talipath near by and it was not friendly. ” Casela Sandra you have to get our of her please it’s going to eat you like it did daddy” Cerenity sobed.

” I got your mother too no one on this ship is safe from me ” it said. Cerenity’s eyes went wide. ” your lying , no one have ever beaten mommy” She screeched now she was angry. But as the shadow who was unseen by the adults aproched Sandra again that anger devolved in to Terror once again.
Cerenity

Casela could feel the sickly oily feeling of an evil mind. She was familiar with it, and perhaps because of her recent trauma her mind was more childlike as it healed, she could pick up on the voice. She couldn’t exactly hear the words it was more like a whisper from another room. But Cerenity’s fear was more than enough, in fact had already convinced Casela weeks ago, that he shadows were real. She palmed open her office and then palmed open a locker and took out her extra Mark VII and rail gun fro RTF. She wasn’t cleared yet, but she still had them. Quietly, using the key pad she set the lights in her office to full brightness, and lowered the lobby to half light, creating plenty of shadows. She turned and looked at Surda with a nod she would hear Casela’s voice in her mind. ‘Go in my office and once the door is shut use the site to site transporter to get Cerenity to Luna. I’m going to get Vonn and RTF down here. Do me a favor find Gen and keep her away if you can. Let the cpt and cmdr know too.’

Once her office door shut she tapped her combadge, =^=Synthi-er to Vonn. We have a possible anomaly on the counseling deck. Request assistance.=^= Then she turned to the shadow lobby with a wicked grin on her face. Her mind reaching out, come out come out wherever you are. She watched the shadows anything that seemed to move was going to get blasted by a very bright light from the end of her Mark VII.
Lt Synthi-er, CNS

” No don’t stay here you will get hurt you can’t see it. You can’t fight it” Cerenity cried.

“All will be well. Trust in us.” Invisibility was no protection from a determined woman, and Surda knew none more determined than Casela.

As the other two left the shadow refused to reveal itself. I’d did however camunicat one thought. ” I’m after the child not you” was all iy said speacking directly to Casela then seaming to disaper hiding its mind from her. It was still on the deck but now completely invisible to her.
Cerenity

Surda swept Cerenity into Casela’s office, not at all minding being relegated to childcare. =/\= Lt. Surda to transporter room. Beam Cerenity and I to Ensign Luna’s location. =/\= She attempted to reach back to Casela, somewhat clumsy, but noticeable nonetheless. Where is Gen most likely to be?
