The briefing with Roebuck had been difficult, the prospect of leading his crew into such a hostile and mysterious environment one that weighed heavy on the mind and on the soul of Zachariah Cobb. He needed some air, artificial though it might be, and some space to stretch his legs. A walk along the promenade, with its unique, forcefield-enclosed ‘patio’, seemed desirable. But for the first time in too many solitary years, he did not want to walk alone.
It took approximately thirty-seven minutes for him to summon courage to tap at his commbadge.
=^= Yeoman Kindle, ah, I mean, Miss Quinn. I…well, I was wondering if you might be willing to accompany me on a stroll along the station’s promenade? =^=

During the briefing since she wasn’t needed, Quinn had taken the time to rearrange her quarters yet again, the main colors in the room were cerulean blue and crimson with royal blue throw pillows and her favorite ruby red sherpa and velvet throw blanket. She was looking over the crystal figurines she had when her combadge chirped, hearing Cobb’s voice made her smile, as she replied, =/\= I would be delighted to join you, which section do I meet you at or do you think I could get away with a site to site to join you now?=/\= while she waited for his reply she got to her feet and walked briskly to her room to get a pair of shoes on, since on her own she walked around her quarters barefoot.

=^= Shuttle escorts only from the dockside, I’m afraid =^= Cobb replied. =^= I’ll send one over to you now and meet you in the main bay in five minutes. =^=

Upon arrival, Quinn would find Cobb already waiting on the exit ramp. His uniform eschewed in favour of customary black t-shirt and jeans, his uncomfortable shuffling suggested a slight measure of anxiety. Or perhaps nerves?

Quinn smiled up at him as she got closer, dressed in a black t-shirt dress with numerous colorful dragonflies all over it, the left side had white lace and there was white lace trim along the bottom hemline of the dress, she wore rainbow styled tie died black leggings and black and white sandals. Her hair was pulled back in a braid with black, cerulean and white ribbons entwined in it. “Are you alright?” she asked softly, Quinn had seem him in a lot of moods but this was not usual for him.

“All the better for seeing you,” Zachariah managed a brief but genuine grin, before crashing back into his malaise. “Our meeting with the Admiral was…even worse than I expected. I need a drink. Let’s go grab a drink, eh?”

Offering out his arm, Cobb led the way from the docking bay and into the station wing proper, which to him recalled historical images of the markets and souks of ancient Morocco. Brightly-coloured and neon-lit shops and stalls lined each side of a wide, metal-floored walkway, offering all manner of foods, drinks, clothes, hairstyling, relaxation treatments and many other things unfamiliar to the Leviathan’s captain. Their final destination was already chosen - the main bar with its legendary ‘outdoor’ patio. But although the promise of whiskey served as a powerful lure, the prospect of discussing his meeting with the Admiral was an almost equal repellent. And so Zachariah made no hurry as they strolled along the promenade, content to browse wherever might catch Quinn’s eye.

Quinn walked beside Zachariah, keeping pace easily, having her hand on his arm, that he had offered her so gentlemanly, allowed her to note his strides and keep pace. The shops of the station were set up like none she had encountered before, she was taking it all in and noted he had passed by more than one bar. He seemed to have a specific place in mind, so she enjoyed the ambience as they walked. Though one shop they were passing by made her turn her head, it was a stall of various yarms. Vibrant colors and looking extremely soft, the stall on the left of it was actual books and games of all types. “I know where I am spending my money later.” she murmured before she looked up at Zachariah, “See anything you’re after acquiring for your collection?” her eyes twinkled with teasing light as she spoke lightly.

Zachariah followed her gaze to the hobby stall, then with a wide grin spreading across his face, made a beeline for the yarn.
“What’s this for then, eh?” he chuckled, lifting a ball and unraveling the end a little. “You planning to herd tribbles with this rope?”

As he replaced the yarn, an elderly woman with a rainbow-coloured braid and round silver glasses hurried over and, with an irritated eye roll to his back, tidied the wool back into place. Then, noticing Quinn, she offered a welcoming, if somewhat sympathetic, smile.

But Zachariah’s attention had been fully caught by the games, he whistling excitedly while attempting to extricate a large box from the middle of this jenga tower.
“Gloomhaven!” he roared with raw delight. “As a young lad, this was my favourite game in the whole world!”

Quinn laughed softly, “I don’t think I have played that what type of game is it?” she asked avoiding answering his question about what she intended to do with the yarm, her cheeks pink, “How many players do you need for it?” she figured the more questions she asked the more likely he would forget her interest in the yarm at least for a short while. Besides she loved playing games even if they were old games.

OOC: Sorry, with your mention of games I couldn’t resist bringing one of my favourites into the post, hehe!
OOC: Love it gives a chance to learn a bit more about his likes besides good whisky and scotch. :)

With the box cradled in his arms like a precious artifact, Zachariah rejoined Quinn and held out his prize for her to inspect.
“Four players is best,” he informed her, before adding with a lamentatious edge, “although it can be played with just one.”

His hand thrusting into his pocket, he withdrew a fistful of credits and presented them to the store keeper. “For this. And also,” he turned to flash a smile at Quinn, “for whatever yarn my lady here would like.”

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Quinn grinned cheekily back at him, “Are you sure you want to do that?” A good crocheted project could take as many as 10-20 skeins of yarn depending on the stitch pattern and thickness of the yarn in question. Though she wasn’t great at it in any case she kept trying though. Though if she was careful in her selections she could easily mix it with what she had left in her quarters. To come up with a vivid creation of numerous colors without clashing with the hues.
