Mwezi stood in the doorway to the Counselor’s office, looking inwards with an odd Expression on his face. Honestly he wasn’t sure what to think of this tradition. On the one hand, having a psychiatrist/psychologist person or team on board a ship was an intelligent move. On the other hand, it meant he’d have to talk to a stranger about his mental state. He wasn’t entirely sure if he liked the situation. Regardless, with his arrival in this timeline, it was necessary. So… Here he was.

Mwezi, CTO

Dean sighed, two in one day. He smiled at the Lt standing by the door. “Good day Lt. Please have a seat. The Lt has someone in her office at the moment. Would you like a drink or something to eat while you wait. If you give me your name I will let her know that you are here.”

Dean of course was excellent at his job and knew this was Lt Mwezi the new CTO. He kept up with all the new crew assignments. It was one of the things he did to help the counseling staff. NL Watkins came out of her office about then and saw the Lt. “Oh Dean, I’m free, I can take the Lt. Boarding check in?” Dean nodded, “Yes Ma’am” Watkins chuckled, “You make me feel old calling me Ma’am, Dean.” Watkins walked over and offered her hand. “I’m NL Watkins. Come with me, and we’ll get you settled.”
NL Watkins

Mwezi glanced from one person to the other, focusing on the first one to have spoken. He had given a question, which was easy to answer. Well, relatively easy. “Ah, I’m Mwezi. I’m supposed to talk to a psychologist or something to make sure I’m mentally fit for duty? Ah, they didn’t explain it particularly well.” The Laleri male lifted a hand to scratch briefly on his furry neck, waiting for answers he hoped would come from either of these counseling staff.

Mwezi, CTO

Dean typed input his name into the computer and pulled up his personnel file and transferred it to PaDD and handed it to Watkins. She took it with a nod of thanks and turned to Mwezi. “Nice to meet you Mwezi. And yes it is standard proceedure for anyone serving or working at a Federation location to undergo physical and mental health checks when reporting to a new assignment. So, if you will come with me we will have a chat and see how you are doing mentally and emotionally.” Watckins waved him on and towards a door that opened into a small but very comfortable office. It was bright but the light was soft, a variety of chairs, cushions, and couches to choose from in a variety of ‘comfort’ levels.
Watkins, counselor

Mwezi followed the counselor into her office. “Yes, we do the medical thing. Did? Do?” He explained, then began to mutter, “Which is appropriate for an alternate timeline?”

“Hmmm well I’m not a temporal expert, but I would go with ‘did’ because it was something that occurred in your personal past.”

The lupine humanoid glanced around a bit, then chose a sturdy chair with an open back and minimal cushioning. “How does one begin this? I’m sure you know what you’re doing but I’ve never talked to a Counselor before.” Despite his non-human facial features, it was still clear that Mwezi was somewhat uncomfortable.

Mwezi, CTO

“We simply have a conversation. Do you want something to drink or to eat?”

“I’m sure this has been a difficult experience for you. What’s been the hardest to adjust to? What can we do to help?”
